Maria's POV

"Oh fair one, we worship you. Please bless my daughter so that she can get a good husband!" One of the women knelt before me as she begged.

This was the situation that I had been plunged into ever since the attack on the community. My eyes were heavy and it was almost as if I had nowhere to hide. Ro was getting better but even seeing him now was proving too hard a feat to achieve.

"Can you get everyone to go away for some time? I want to see Ro and I don't want to do it with the crowd" I whispered to Zak as I made my way to the makeshift clinic, which was just all that was left of the former clinic before the attack.

"Alright. I will." Zak answered me curtly and barred the crowd from coming along with us inside.

"You have become quite the legend. I guess all it took was a little light" Victoria took a snipe at me but I didn't budge. Ever since the attack and my sudden elevation in status, she has been taking secret jabs at me. It was almost as if she were jealous, wis

  • Veil Of Destiny   93: The Birth of the Newborn

Maria's POV ONE MONTH LATER My whole life has changed here and even though everyone worshipped me and treated me well, I was still confused. I had a lot of questions that I needed answers to but wasn't getting them. Roy was out now and he lived with me. Having him around greatly improved my mood and unlike the other adults that I have had to deal with all my life, Roy was an amazing child. "So, are you really leaving?" he asked me for the umpteenth time, and I knew that he was just as nervous as I was. "Tomorrow. It's already late, you should go to sleep" I said to him, trying to cajole him to bed. "I don't want to sleep yet. Let me stay with you for a little while longer" he said as he knew that I had been keeping late nights for over two weeks. Eliot had traced a side of my mother's family to the north and today was the day that I had decided to move forward in my future by knowing what is in my past. Even though the decision was tough, I had to make it for my own good. "Alri

  • Veil Of Destiny   92: Drums of War

Leo's POV "Are you trying to tell me that you all were unable to get the location of the bright light?" I demanded from the men who stood in front of me, not able to meet my gaze. They had a whole week to comb the entire pack for the silver wolf, but what they were telling me now was that they couldn't find him. I was livid. They were being incompetent because I was sure that they should have been able to find him easily. "My king, they all agreed to have seen the light and felt the aura of the silver wolf's power but no one knew where it came from" one of the men spoke to me. I looked at him for a long while, unsure of what to do as the anger had reached its boiling point. "Is that what you think I want to hear? What if the packs are covering him? What if they are planning a coup and he is the secret weapon? What sort of carelessness is this? So you all thought that you could go on an assignment for me and come back with no solution? You think that I cannot do anything to you all

  • Veil Of Destiny   90: The confirmation

Sophia's POV I was having a hard time sleeping. I kept tossing and turning on the bed until I couldn't take it anymore and got up. My room was empty of another soul, even though I clearly remembered going to bed with Leo last night. He has been kind to me since last week. I had complained to him about how he was treating me, and I could see that he was doing his best to be better. Mother had tried to reach me several times to know if we would later go to where I had told her we were going to find the location of the silver wolf. There was no way that I was going to tell her now, that all that plan had come to nought. I fought the urge to go to Leo's room, I was the heir to my mother's lair and the only thing that would make everyone happy now was to see the end of the wolves. Suddenly, I felt myself painfully pulled to a different realm. I closed my eyes to bear the pain that shot through me as I was being pulled by terrestrial forces. I cushioned my head to bear the impact as I wa

  • Veil Of Destiny   89: Lost, but Found

Maria's POV It has been another long but beautiful week. Life was so unproblematic here, and everyone genuinely cared about the other. You didn't find anyone who had the tiniest bit of negative interest in another person. I finally felt at peace and at home in the one place that I didn't think I would ever have. I had promised Ro that we would have a picnic date today. He was the only friend I had and that alone had covered my feelings since I got here. The chef always found an excuse to send me food, one of which was that I was pregnant and entering the final phase of my pregnancy."Mareeeyaaaa!" He screamed my name as soon as I got to the open field that had been cleared for the purpose. He smiled so brightly at me that everything I had ever gone through just to meet him made sense for one brief moment. "How are you, my favourite boy?" I asked him as he tried to run into my arms but stopped midway to hug me gently. I knew he was taking care, so that he wouldn't hurt the baby. "I

  • Veil Of Destiny   88: Lost cause

Leo's POV Nothing had worked. Everything we had put in place to find the silver wolf had come to nothing. Sophia and I were drifting more apart daily. Even though it seemed as if I could not do without her, I didn't want her anywhere close to me anymore. "You haven't stepped out of your study in days. Is that how much you are avoiding talking to me or seeing me now?" Sophia asked me at the end of the third day when I hadn't stepped out of my study. "No, I just needed some time to clear my head. The guards returned a few days ago with bad news, everyone that knows how I can find the silver wolf is dead. I just have to wait for the wolf to accept their nature before I know" I said and drew a tired hand through my hair. "I understand that but still, you can't because of that start neglecting everything else," she said and I didn't understand what she was saying since I had been functioning well. "What do you mean? I have not neglected my duties to my people as the alpha" I said and
