Caleb turned around. Ember was standing not far away with arms folded, looking at him indifferently.

“My apologies for making you wait, Mr. Lane. You’re still waiting for the divorce, aren’t you? I’ll make it quick.”

Caleb didn’t even think twice. “No. I won’t agree to this.”

Ember scowled in confusion. “What? It has only been a few years’ worth of pain and you want me back already? Or maybe it’s better to say that you’re alright with Ms. Penelope being a homewrecker?”

Caleb knew that he was wrong, and almost choked on her words. He scratched his nose and changed the topic. “Em, let’s not talk about the past, okay? Come back home. Come back to my side.”

His tone was unusually serious, and it was the first time he had gazed at Ember so affectionately.
