It was 9:40pm as Leo drove along the roads. He just had a rough day and he was feeling a little grumpy.
"Blame it on that snitch", he thought
All he knew was that he was tired and he just couldn't wait to get home and have a good rest but unfortunately things don't always go the way you want do they?
On his way he received a phone call from his dad telling him to head over to the old house immediately. He knew it must have been an emergency he could hear the urgency in his father's tone. So with a groan he turned the car around and headed straight to the old house.
At a luxurious penthouse Cassie sat on a couch reading through some files. The penthouse screamed "money" as one could easily see from all the luxurious and expensive furniture inside.
Cassie sat with the files in her hand not really studying them as her mind was occupied.
She finally sighed got up and walked to a drawer and pulled out a simple necklace that didn't look too fitting for a woman of her status to have that must have been because it wasn't hers. It was her mother's. As she held onto the necklace she felt really sad. She sat down as she recalled the incident that happened from the meeting with her dad earlier today.
*Flashback*
Earlier today at 1am she had set out for the Royal Restaurant downtown which was where she had told her dad to meet her. She remembered the hesitation she felt when she stood outside the restaurant's door. Knowing that behind the door was a past she had tried so much to forget.
Pulling herself together she opened the door and walked in her eyes searching for her father. She soon found him at the farthest corner of the restaurant. She could barely recognize him as he looked even more scrawny than the last time she saw him at her company.
"Ah", she sighed "Here goes nothing" as she swiftly made her way to were he was sitting. As soon as he saw her he waved to her. She went and sat in front of him with an expressionless face.
For a while no one said anything and they just sat there looking at each other. Each having different thoughts running through their mind.
For Cassie so many questions kept running through her mind like "Why now?", "Where have you been?", "Why did you leave in the first place?" and so much more. But she sat there expressionlessly waiting for him to speak.
Her father on the other hand kept waiting for her to say something, to ask him questions. But when he saw her just seating across from him without an expression on her face he was baffled. Baffled by how much his little girl had grown, and how cold she looked right now.
Realizing, Cassie wasn't planning on saying anything he decided to break the ice.
"You've grown so much, pumpkin"
"Pumpkin", that name kept ringing bells in Cassie's head. That was the name her father used to always call her when she was little. "He remembered?", she thought.
She kept looking at him without even a slightest change in expression even though her heart was a mess right now.
And this saddened her father a lot. But nevertheless he continued with a small smile on his face
"It feels like just yesterday when you were running around in the backyard making small sand castles and...."
"Why are you here?", she interrupted him
He looked at her and replied "Because I wanted to see you pumpkin. It's been so long and I missed you......"
"You missed me huh?", she finally smiled a little but it wasn't a pleasant smile rather if anything it looked like a devilish grin and this scared her father a little.
"Yes.. Pumpkin.. I...I missed you"
"Fifteen years. It's been fifteen years since you walked out of my life without looking back and you only just realized you missed me??!!!"
"Look, I'm sorry pumpkin I really am. I know I made some bad choices but please... Please forgive me pumpkin hm."
"Stop calling me that!!!", she raged at him.
At that point Cassie had finally broken. Sitting there across the man whom she had loved and adored so much. Who had walked out of her life without looking back and shattered her mercilessly, she broke.
"Please Cassie please listen to me. It's not what you think. Let me try to explain", her father begged
"Explain? You mean there is actually a logical explanation for abandoning your family like that? I was fifteen when you left us!! You were our pillar and you left!! Without even an explanation without even a goodbye"
"I... I", her father was dumbfounded
"Hah", she smirked "That's what I thought"
"Don't ever look for me ever again. You daughter, your pumpkin is gone. You made sure of that", she stated as she grabbed her purse and walked out leaving her father kneeling on the floor.
He had looked at her go. She wasn't willing to forgive him. At least not right now. How could he ever explain to her that he has did what he did to protect her and her mother.
* End Of Flashback*
As cold as people thought she was, Cassie had feelings no matter how hard she tried to suppress them they were there. And today she was feeling a whole lot of things pain, regret , anger, sadness and loneliness. Holding the necklace Cassie crumbled to the floor, curled into a ball and cried her eyes out. Something she hadn't done in a long time.
48 Hours before"Hey bro, what's up?", Edgar asked a very tired looking Leo."Hm", Leo acknowledged his presence without even looking at him."Woah. You look like quite stressed out", Edgar noted."You can't even begin to imagine. With dad away settling the investors overseas and also working on something secret I don't know about, I have to take care of everything here and many other major issues. It's taxing", Leo replied."Too bad dude. See this is why I would never want to be you.""Of course. You are better off just being irresponsible and childish", Leo fired"Hey! That hurt you know?", Edgar said pretending to look hurt."Whatever. What do you want this time? Why did you come?""Heol! Are you trying to say I can't come to see you without wanting something?", Edgar asked pitifully"Yes", Leo replied blankly. "What did you do?", he asked"Nothing! Ah you really don't have much fate in me. Well for your
Knock knock. "Enter" "Miss Turner, the interview will begin shortly." "Alright. You may leave.", Cassie responded. She sighed before trying to call Sarah again. Beep Beep. The sound of the line being disconnected came through on her phone. "Once again there was no reply", she sighed again before putting down her phone. She couldn't really blame Sarah, she was a bit too harsh to her last time. Cassie sighed again before standing up from her chair. She put herself together and headed towards the room where the interview was going to take place. Today they were holding an interview for the post of Assistant to the Marketing Manager. The last one was fired due to his incompetence. And to prevent that from happening again she wanted to oversee this interview herself. She wouldn't be the one conducting the interview. She would just sit on the sidelines and watch the procedure noting down some important things or anyone who pa
"Who came to see you?", Leo asked with his brows raised."Miss Lee, Miss Turner's friend I believe", Edgar replied nonchalantly"Oh? And what did she want?", he asked relaxing on his chair."She wanted you.""What?!", Leo nearly choked on his saliva."Oh?", Edgar raised his eyes to him"I didn't mean it that way. She came asking about you.""Asking about me?""Yeah. She wanted to know your information."Leo thought about it for a while before he slowly asked in a low voice,"Well.... was she asking for herself or did she say someone sent her?"Edgar eyed his friend for a long time. Looks like Leo's feelings for Cassie ran deep. He clearly wanted to know if she was looking for him. Could this actually be a good thing?"She said she was there for a friend." Leo's eyes sparked"But I don't exactly think Miss Turner actually sent her, if that's what you wanted to know"Leo raised his eyes.
Minetti MansionLeo sat in front of his father. His father had been silent since he arrived and honestly it was beginning to get on his nerves. He was not in the mood for whatever mind games his father wanted to play with him, he thought as he sighed wearily. He glanced at his father again.Growing up, Leo couldn't exactly his father was the best father. Heck! His father wasn't even a normal father much less the best. At a very young age Leo was already being trained for when he would take over his father's position in the Mafia. At age 7, he was already being trained in martial arts. Age 10, and his father already thought he was old enough to use a gun. He remembered on his 12th birthday his father had gifted him a gun as a present. "Definitely not a normal father", Leo smirked. But then again his family wasn't a normal one anyway. But regardless of how weird Leo's father might have been, he had loved his mother. And that was one thing Leo respected about him. He had
"Nothing?", Cassie asked as she looked at Sarah. "Yes nothing. I couldn't find a record of any Leo around either Lucian Santino; which was quite understandable at first because it seemed they weren't too close but with Edgar Monroe? I was expecting to find something since they seemed really close but I couldn't find anything. It's almost as if such a person doesn't exist around them.", she replied. Cassie fell into deep thought. It's either Leo was no one significant which seemed very unlikely because they should at least be able to find something about him if he was ordinary or he wasn't an ordinary person at all. Then who was he? He was acquaintances with two very powerful people and now they couldn't find anything about him. "Anyways I think maybe I didn't dig deep enough. Maybe I should try...." "No don't", Cassie said "What? Why?", Sarah asked her dumbfounded. "No need. I shouldn't focus myself on finding some man anyway. It's not my way.
"He's here! Everyone to your stations!". These were the shouts that rang through the precinct as the police officers readied themselves for the arrival of one of the most important figure in their entire State Security Department. He walked in with a powerful aura. Calm yet powerfully he headed straight for the Chief's office ignoring all the people who had lined to greet him."Woah. Who is he?", one of the younger policemen asked an older one."Sealey", the older one replied."Detective James Sealey. One of the most brilliant detective in our entire State Department if not the entire country", he continued in awe."Woah", the younger one responded surprised."Then what is he doing here?", another young officer asked."I heard he was recently transferred to our District on Special assignment", the elder one replied."Really?", the officer responded as he looked towards the Chief's office where the man was currently shaking hand
