Chapter 1

The night was perfect, the full moon casting its gentle glow over our Moonlight Pack's territory. The air was filled with the comforting scents of roasting meat and fresh pine, and the sound of laughter echoed through the trees.

It was a night of celebration, a night to honor the moon goddess, Selene, and the bond we shared as a pack.

I stood among my fellow pack members, a warm sense of belonging filling me as I watched them enjoy the festivities.

The bonfire roared in the center of our clearing, casting flickering shadows on the faces of those I held dear.

I glanced over at my father, Alexander, our beloved Alpha, and saw the pride in his eyes as he watched me. He knew, as did everyone else, that I was destined to become the future Luna.

I had worked hard ever since I was a child to meet up to the expectations of my father and our people, to show them that I could be a worthy leader, when the time comes.

And this celebration would be the last lunar ritual before I'm handed over the title.

Finally,

I walked through the crowd, and stopped when I saw Sarah,  our pack's healer. Her silver hair framed her wise, kind face, and her gentle blue eyes sparkled in the moonlight.

"Eva, my dear," she said, "you're growing into a fine young woman. Your mother would be so proud."

A bittersweet smile tugged at the corners of my mouth as I thought of my mother, who had passed away when I was just a pup.

"Thank you, Sarah," I replied, my voice thick with emotion. "I can only hope to be as strong and loving as she was."

"You already are my child,"

I gave her a smile and kept walking through the celebration, watching everyone to make sure they all had what they needed and that nothing was amiss.

"Eva!"

Turning, I gave my best friend a smile as she approached me, her eyes dancing.

"You should sit down and enjoy the party. Go dance or drink. You don't have to keep parading, let the fun go through you" Lily said with a mischievous grin.

"I am enjoying myself," I responded, "I just have to make sure that everything is in check and that nothing is going wrong,"

"But you don't have to. This is your last Lunar Ritual as a free woman. Ooohhh, you're excited about your future oh dear Luna?"

She bent to a dramatic bow wiggling her eyebrows.

I laughed,  excited and nervous at the same time at the thought. "I am, but it's also a huge responsibility. I just hope I can live up to everyone's expectations."

Lily playfully punched my arm. "Hey, don't worry about it. You're going to be an amazing Luna. I mean, just look at your father; leadership runs in your blood."

"Yeah yeah. I sure do hope so,"

"Jokes aside, I believe I speak for everyone when I say that you will be an excellent leader darling. You already are, you always have been. Title or not"

"Yeah well, the title makes it official" I said and she smiled.

"I will catch you later. Make sure you join the fun before the night is over okay? Love you"

"Love you too," I called but she was already running away.

I sighed, taking in everything before me.

Well it seems like nothing is going to go wrong so I'll just take Lily's advice….I think.

"Hey Eva," Decker called, waving at me. He was with a group of other young warriors, "Come over for a drink."

I blushed as he smiled at me, slowly walking over to him.

But I stopped dead in my tracks as the air took a drastic change, at least to me. Goosebumps ran down my spine.

Something is wrong.

The joyous atmosphere took a sudden, chilling turn when the first howl of pain pierced the air. For a split second, everything seemed to freeze, and then panic erupted.

The Blood Moon Pack had infiltrated our territory and was now attacking us in our moment of vulnerability.

My heart raced as I struggled to process the scene unfolding before me. "Everyone, defend the pack!" my father's voice boomed over the chaos, snapping me back to reality. I watched him shift into his powerful, gray wolf form and launch himself at an enemy werewolf.

"Stay together!" Lily shouted as she grabbed my arm, her face pale and her eyes wide with fear. "We need to protect our pups and elders!"

She was right. I took a deep breath, allowing the adrenaline and my instincts to take over. "Lily, help me get them to safety. Sarah, tend to the injured!" I called out, my voice strong and determined.

As we fought to protect our pack, I shifted into my own sleek, black wolf form. My teeth bared, I lunged at a Blood Moon Pack member, my green eyes filled with fury. The taste of copper filled my mouth as my fangs sank into their flesh.

"Eva, watch out!" Lily's cry reached my ears just in time for me to dodge a vicious swipe from an enemy wolf. We fought side by side, doing our best to protect our pack and each other.

The sounds of snarls, growls, and cries of pain filled the air, and the once peaceful clearing was now a battleground painted with blood and chaos.

The Blood Moon Pack was ruthless and relentless in their attack, and my heart ached with the realization that we were losing.

As I struggled to catch my breath, I looked around for my father. I spotted him in the midst of the chaos, locked in a brutal fight with the Blood Moon Pack's Alpha. My heart sank as I saw the Alpha land a powerful blow, sending my father crashing to the ground.

"No!" I howled, my voice filled with anguish and desperation. I raced towards my father, my vision blurred with tears. I had to save him; I couldn't lose him like I had lost my mother.

But I was blocked off by some other wolves.

The battle raged on, our once tranquil territory transformed into a nightmarish landscape of blood, broken bodies, and the cries of the dying. My heart shattered with each friend and family member I saw fall, but I forced myself to keep fighting, to protect those who still remained.

"Stay strong, Eva!" James shouted, his voice hoarse from the smoke and fear that filled the air. "We can't give up!"

I nodded, tears streaming down my face as I gritted my teeth, determined to avenge the fallen. I rushed forward to help James, working together to take down an enemy werewolf that had cornered a group of our pack's pups.

"Go, run to safety!" I urged the pups, watching as they scrambled away, their tiny legs shaking with fear.

My father's anguished cry reached my ears, and I looked up just in time to see him collapse, his body battered and bleeding. Despair filled my chest, suffocating me, as I raced to his side.

"Dad, no, please!" I sobbed, dropping to my knees beside him. His once strong and commanding presence was now weak and fading, and I could barely recognize the powerful Alpha I had always admired.

"Eva... my dear Eva," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "Promise me you'll survive... and protect the pack... I love you."

"I promise, Dad," I choked out, my vision blurred by tears. "I love you too."

As I cradled his lifeless body in my arms, my grief quickly turned to fury. A primal scream tore from my throat, the sound echoing through the battlefield. I rose to my feet, filled with a newfound determination and a thirst for vengeance.

"You'll pay for this!" I roared, my voice shaking with rage. "I'll make sure of it!"

I charged back into the fray, my heart heavy with the weight of my father's death, but fueled by the fire of revenge that burned within me. I fought with renewed ferocity, desperate to make the Blood Moon Pack pay for the destruction they had wrought upon my family and my pack.

The battle reached its peak, the deafening clash of snarls, growls, and the desperate cries of the wounded filling the air. I was cornered by several members of the Blood Moon Pack, their eyes filled with a murderous intent that sent chills down my spine.

"You think you can defeat us, little girl?" one of them sneered, his words dripping with contempt.

"I won't go down without a fight!" I spat, trying to summon the last ounces of my strength, knowing that my life was hanging by a thread.

"You have spirit, I'll give you that," another Blood Moon werewolf taunted. "But it won't save you."

Despite my determination, my body was weakening, and I knew I couldn't hold out much longer. As I fought back with everything I had left, I thought of my father, my friends, and my pack. The love I felt for them fueled me, even as my vision began to fade.

I stared around me, and watched as one of them bit into Decker's neck and he slumped down, his face contorted in tears.

At another side of me, Lily was also laying amongst other lifeless bodies, her body pale and stained with blood.

No no no no.

"Your pack is finished, and so are you!" the first werewolf snarled, lunging forward to deliver the final blow.

I let out a final, defiant cry, even as his claws pierced my flesh. I collapsed to the ground, my body wracked with pain as life drained from me. My last thoughts were of my family and my pack, hoping that somehow, they would find a way to survive and rebuild.

I struggled to keep breathing, my lifeless body lay among the fallen members of the Moonlight Pack, a tragic testament to the brutality and destruction of that fateful night.

As I lay among the fallen, the battle raging around me, a sudden calm seemed to descend upon the battlefield.

And then everything turned black.

Next thing I saw was me standing there, in the same field but kind of flowing.

Was I dead?

Above, the full moon shone brightly, casting a silvery glow over the carnage below.

From the ethereal light, a figure materialized.

I gasped as I realized who it was.

The goddess Selene!!

She was just like we always saw in visions.

Her eyes were filled with sorrow and compassion, gazing upon the devastated Moonlight Pack. Her gaze then fell upon me, and she spoke with a voice that seemed to echo through the very fabric of the night.

"Eva, my child," she whispered gently, "you fought with courage and honor, and your love for your pack has touched my heart. I cannot stand by and let your story end like this."

"Dear goddess," I gasped, falling to my knees, my heart squeezing, "You have to help us. You have to"

"Relax. Your pack have dedicated their lives serving me, generations after generations, maintaining peace as much as they can. This isn't what you deserve"

"Then why did you allow them all to die?" I Said.

"Oh my child, if only it was as simple as you think. But I can't let the pack be wiped away like that. You will reform. You will get another chance"

We had always served the goddess loyally, always. Why would she help me right now when everything was gone?

My whole family  is gone, my friends all of them.

"My dear," She whispered as if reading my thoughts, "You have so much more to look forward to. You are getting a once in a lifetime opportunity. The chance to give your people the justice they deserve,"

I loved the thought of that very much. "But why me? Why did you choose to bring me back?"

"Because, Eva i have been watching you since you were a child. Even as a little girl you have always had this pure defiance in you. You are determined, you know what you want and you can stretch yoursef to the limit to get it. No matter what the obstacles are, Such determinations is hard to come by"

I blushed at her words. After a few seconds of contemplating i nodded.

"Okay. I will tak it." I said. If i can't get my people back i might as well give them justice. They deserve it.

Her shimmering hand reached out, touching my lifeless form. A warm, tingling sensation spread throughout my body, healing my wounds and filling me with new life.

"Arise, Eva, and live once more," Selene commanded, her voice carrying the weight of her divine power. "But know this: with this second chance comes a great responsibility. You must use this new life to avenge your pack, protect the innocent, and ensure that such tragedy never befalls your kind again."

As the warmth of her divine touch revived me, I felt a newfound strength coursing through my veins. My eyes fluttered open, and I found myself gazing up at the goddess, her silver eyes brimming with both sorrow and determination.

"Thank you, Selene," I whispered, my voice filled with gratitude and awe. "I promise to honor your gift and bring justice to those who have caused this pain."

With a nod of approval, Selene slowly vanished, her presence fading back into the silvery glow of the moon above. As I rose to my feet, I was filled with a sense of purpose and a burning thirst for revenge.

As I stood among the ruins of my former life, Selene's divine power coursed through my veins, healing my wounds and imbuing me with a newfound strength. I took a moment to look around, taking in the devastation and the lifeless forms of my family and friends. My heart ached for them, but I knew that I could not bring them back. Instead, I would honor their memory by seeking justice for the atrocities committed against them.

With my new lease on life, I knew that I had to leave my old identity behind. No longer would I be Eva, the Alpha's daughter. Now, I would become someone else – someone the Blood Moon Pack would never suspect. I would use my wits, my strength, and my newfound powers to infiltrate their ranks and take my revenge from within.
