Chapter 3

My heart pounded against my chest as the lie I had carefully mapped out left my mouth.

The man looked me over with a scornful look and snorted, “Our pack is not one you can just waltz into whenever you want. Turn around and leave,” He snapped

My heart sank, and I felt my hope slipping away.

I was not expecting that. So, what was I supposed to do now?

I needed to get in.

Well I guess have to go back and prepare for plan B.

But just as I was about to turn around like he instructed, a young woman stepped forward from the shadows. Her fiery red hair framed her delicate features, and her green eyes sparkled with determination.

"Hey, give her a chance," she said, boldly challenging the man. "She's been through a lot, and she deserves the opportunity to prove herself. Besides, we never turn down visitors. Come on”

The man looked at her, seemingly irritated by her defiance, but eventually sighed and reluctantly agreed. "Fine, Lily. But she's your responsibility."

Lily nodded, her gaze never leaving the man. "I understand."

Turning towards me, she offered a warm smile. "Hi, I'm Lily, come on with me let us talk. Looks like you are going to be with me for a long time,”

With a confused smile, I followed her in. Why was she suddenly helping me out here?

"Thank you, Lily. I really appreciate it."

As we walked away from the man, I felt a mix of emotions – relief, anxiety, and the growing weight of my mission for revenge.

As we walked through the Blood Moon Pack territory, I took note of the differences between this place and my former home. The atmosphere was more tense and hostile, and the pack members all seemed to be on edge. It was a stark contrast to the loving, warm environment of the Moonlight Pack, which only fueled my determination for revenge.

When we arrived at Lily's home, I couldn't help but feel a little nervous. It was a cozy and inviting place, filled with the aroma of delicious food and the warmth of a crackling fire. Lily gestured for me to sit down on the plush sofa, her eyes filled with curiosity and concern.

"Tell me, Nora," she said gently, "what brought you here? What happened to your pack?"

I took a deep breath, preparing myself to share the false story I had crafted. "My pack was attacked by hunters," I began, my voice trembling. "They showed no mercy, slaughtering everyone in their path. I was the only survivor."

It was the half-truth after all.

Lily's eyes widened in shock, and she reached out to place a comforting hand on my arm. "I'm so sorry, Nora. That's terrible."

As I continued to recount the fabricated tale of loss and hardship, I could see the sympathy in Lily's eyes. By the time I had finished, she looked as though she was on the verge of tears.

"You've been through so much," she said softly. "You need a place to heal and find your footing. You can stay with me for as long as you need."

Her genuine kindness caught me off guard, and I felt a pang of guilt for lying to her. But I couldn't let my emotions get in the way of my mission. "Thank you, Lily," I said, my voice full of gratitude. "I don't know what I would have done without you."

She smiled, “I feel like you were meant to be here. The goddess showed me in my dream last night that a new girl will come in and she is to be my responsibility. So, you were meant to be here and I am meant to help you”

“Thank you so much,” I said and offered a little thanks to the goddess as well for truly helping me out. I would not take it for granted.

The door opened and a man walked in carrying a bag. He entered the room with a warm smile, his eyes falling on me as he took in my presence.

"Adam, this is Nora," Lily introduced me. "She's going to be staying with us for a little while. Her pack was attacked, and she's the only survivor."

His expression immediately filled with empathy, and he crossed the room to shake my hand. "I'm so sorry to hear about your pack, Nora. I can't imagine what you've been through. Welcome to our home, and if there's anything you need, don't hesitate to ask."

"Thank you, Adam," I replied, my voice sincere. "Your kindness means more than you know."

“Nora? This is my mate Adam.”

I smiled, and gave him a slight polite nod.

He gave me a reassuring smile before turning to Lily. "I'll leave you two to catch up. I have some things I need to take care of."

Lily nodded, giving him a quick peck on the cheek before he left the room. As the door closed behind him, I felt a little envious of their bond. They seemed to have such a loving and supportive relationship, and it was a stark reminder of what I had lost.

But I knew I couldn't dwell on my feelings of loss and loneliness. I had a mission to complete, and I needed to focus all my energy on avenging my pack.

The rest of the day, was better than I imagined it would be.

Lily spent hours explaining how things worked in the pack and I got to understand clearer.

She was the chef for the Alpha’s family and apparently, they had a very strict ruler.

Her eyes lit up with excitement as she talked about her work.

I also accompanied her to a very beautiful kitchen where she pulled out some dishes from the refrigerator and warmed them up. Then packaged them up in different baskets.

"Would you like to accompany me while I deliver dinner to the Alpha's chamber? You could get a glimpse of the pack's leadership."

I nodded, trying to hide my eagerness to meet the people I planned to take revenge on. "Sure, that sounds interesting."

We walked through the pack's living quarters, the warm glow of the setting sun streaming through the windows. The scent of the delicious meal Lily had prepared filled the air, and I couldn't help but feel a bit hungry.

As we reached the Alpha's chamber, the heavy wooden doors opened to reveal a spacious, luxuriously decorated room. In the center stood a tall, muscular man who seemed to be in his mid-twenties.

He turned when he we came in and started smiling until he saw me.

“Hello sir. I brought dinner,” Lily said, but the “Sir” ignored her completely.

He stared at ne with a deep frown.

His piercing blue eyes locking onto mine the moment he saw me. I felt my heart skip a beat, an electric current running through my body, and I cursed under my breath.

Damn it how could this be happening?

At the same time, my wolf howled lowly in my head and whispered, “Our mate” even as I groaned.

Mated to my enemy?

Dear mother goddess, I honestly thought you were on my side, so why this?

The guy himself must have caught on to and he also didn’t appear too pleased by what just happened.

"Who is this?" he asked, his voice deep and commanding, yet filled with curiosity.

"This is Nora," Lily replied, her tone warm and friendly oblivious of the bonding that just happened in her presence. "She recently lost her pack and will be staying with us for a while She is a rogue."

His gaze never left mine as he stepped closer, the intensity of our connection growing stronger by the second.

“Well I will be damned,” He muttered, striding closer to us, “Mated to a rogue,”

I winced as Lily gasped beside me in shock.
