Whispher's

Wrapping up, Camila stood from her black leather chair and focused her gaze on the window that overlooked the dense mountains present on the eastern side of the city, while a tired sigh escaped her lips. "The sun's set," she murmured, mesmerized by its beauty. Orange rays had shone over all of the world, swallowing everyone with their faint glow, which contained no scorching effect.

"His Majesty said you should take your time." Ariana, Camila's personal assistant, walked through the door with a broad smile plastered on her face.

"Mmh," she nodded, whacking the files on the table to re-arrange them. A month had passed since they came back to the city to avenge their foes, but issues were still ongoing. After sitting for a while, she and Ash came to the conclusion that they should let all alphas take care of their packs but would respond to them every month considering how the packs' were fairing.

Although the packs were still named the way they were in the past, they were now merged into one kingdom. The Lycan kingdom, with her being the queen and Ash being the King. They hadn't told anyone but their unborn prince yet because they wanted to keep quiet about their personal lives.

When they first came, it was really hard. The alphas were ready to kneel on the ground and even know-tow at them as long as they left them to rule their packs, and that was when she came up with a condition.

All alphas were to make peace and stop fighting against each other. There were some who were reluctant at first, but after she threatened to take their packs and merge them with others packs, they finally agreed, although half-heartedly.

Things seemed to be peaceful and going well, but they weren't going to let their guard down. There were some alphas out there who were still processing all that had happened, and she knew they would strike soon.

"Is he done with his work?" She asked Ariana, who spun, giving her a confused gaze, "His Majesty, is he done?" She knitted her brows at her.

"Uh, yes, your majesty," Ariana bowed with the same broad smile still worn on his face. Camila always wondered if she never stopped doing that. She was once like her, all smiley and content with what she was getting, but then...

"Hello, your majesty," a familiar voice she had grown to detest echoed at the door. Almost immediately, the security guard ran in, bowing his head while complaining.

"Your majesty, I told him that you don't want anyone in, but he didn't listen to me," he said in one breath.

"It's okay, Mr. Peterson; I know you tried your best, but as it always is, some people will never appreciate other people's work, and the only thing they are good at is giving them a hard time," she said sternly, her sharp gaze having surely frozen the figure's innards bestowed on him.

She shoved her hands in her trouser suit, and then, walking closer to the security guard, she asked him to leave. "Can I help you, Alpha Killan?" she asked the figure while going back across the table and sitting on her chair, her back resting on its spongy headrest.

Alpha Kilan, dressed in a three-piece purple suit, sat on the chair across from her and smiled. "Would you like to go for dinner with me?" He asked shamelessly, his lips curled in a flirty smirk.

"With all due respect, Alpha Killan, this is an office, and I am sure you know what an office is meant for," she said in a serious tone without even battling her eyelashes. "I know your kind. You don't care as long as everything goes your way, but please, I've got important things to do. I can't waste even a single second on a stupid dinner date. So, if you'll excuse me," she said, raising her hands while stretching her fingers to point at the door.

"Mila, please," Alpha Killan begged while sighing in desperation. Since Camila's arrival, he had tried to clear things with her, apologizing for every misdeed he had even done to her, but she...

"Alpha Killan, please." Camila's bored and cold voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Fine, I'll go, but you should know that I will never stop coming after you. Not until you forgive me and give another chance to our relationship," he yelled, but his words never reached Camila, who had already turned all her attention to the files on the table. The palace guards, whom Camila had snapped her fingers at to get their attention, were practically dragging him out of the office.

"Let go. Idiots!" He spat while trying to kick their asses, but they never stopped until he was out of the gate and made sure that they locked him outside.

At the office, Camila sighed while massaging her temples. She had told Killan so many times already that they would never need to be together again, but he was adamant and stubborn. Ash was now her mate—not just a mate but a real mate who was separated from her by a coven of witches, and there was no way she would let him go.

"Babe," her thoughts were interrupted by a voice she had come to love hearing, followed by a woody, masculine scent mixed with the Earth's scent. "It's a miracle he hasn't created a scene today." Ash smiled, closing the door behind him.

Camila rose from her chair as well, her poker face replaced with an excited smile. "I miss you." She jumped on his arms, burying her nose in the crook of his neck.

"I missed you too. Have you eaten?" He asked. "I got your favorite snacks," he said, taking out the plastic bag he was hiding behind his back.

"Oh my, thank you," Camila smiled while jumping off his hands. "And yes, he didn't create a scene today." She talked with a mouthful of cake.

"Good to hear that. I saw the guard dragging him out of the office. It was a nice scene; you should have been there." He smiled, kissed her on the forehead, and excused himself to go to his office.

On Ash's departure from the office, a series of whispers echoed in Camila's ears. She gasped, stood up from the couch she was sitting on, and looked around. She had heard those whispers before. Ash admitted to having heard them as well, but they never knew where they came from.

The only thing they knew was that they were dangerous. They could feel it. In panic mode, Camila deserted her favorite snacks and ran to pick up her phone from her purse. She tried to dial Ash's number and ask him to get back to her office, but an invisible force snatched it from her hands and threw it against the wall, breaking it in the process.

"Come with us, Camila, or else the fruit you are carrying shall be taken away from you," the voices echoed, this time louder and in a distorted voice.

"No, I am not coming with you. I will never desert this kingdom!" She yelled while pressing her palms against her ears.

"Come with us, Camila, or else the fruit you are carrying shall be taken away from you," the voice echoed, this time with anger. Before Camila could respond, a sharp pain resonated from her lower abdomen.

"No, don't touch my baby. Don't!" She screamed, but the voices eerie laughter echoed. The pain increased, making Camila drop to her knees. "Leave my baby, please, please." She pleaded weakly, her voice barely above a whisper. After fighting for some time, Camila decided to give up and let the darkness flickering in her eyes take over her.

"My baby." That was the last word she uttered before passing out.
