Chapter 3: Important Guest

Loud. Smoky. Wild. Those three words best describe what greeted Raenerys the moment she reached Nevil's Den. Many wolves were enjoying themselves there, so no one noticed her arrival. She even wondered if the pack from the south knew that she was here too.

Raenerys scanned the area before approaching the bar counter that came into view. She got herself a drink while casting chilly glances at everyone. She sat on the stool and looked around again while taking a sip from her glass. A pair of eyes pierced her. She didn't know the man, but he quickly reached into the glass he was holding and drank the contents without taking his eyes off her, then hurriedly bid goodbye to his companion and headed in her direction. She turned her head away while sipping from her glass, trying to hide the sneer on her lips.

"Hi," the stranger greeted her. She didn't greet him back.

"You're not from here in the North, are you?" Again, this got no answer from Raenerys.

"You're so quiet and mysterious. I'm getting more and more interested in getting to know you; I am Allen." This time, Raenerys glanced at him, but before she could speak, her attention was already taken by the silence around her. Lights became steady, music was turned off, voices were muffled, and wolves stopped whatever sh*t they were doing.

When Raenerys went in search of the cause, she discovered that her eyes were fixed on the man going down the stairs. He had his hands tucked into his pockets and had commanding eyes that were fixed on everyone else but not directly staring at anyone. Nevil Lancaster.

"The alpha looks really dashing, my god." Raenerys overheard some females gushing about their attractive alpha, but she dismissed the concept of Nevil, who she had formerly liked. He was just like the other males she had encountered in the West. In other ways, Acheron resembles him as well. He isn't unique, after all. Nevil was just like anyone else.

"I wonder why he didn't marry anyone. He had so many choices," the other she-wolf whispers, but it is still clear to Raenerys's ears.

"Well, he denied them all. He's very picky, even the goddess of the Southern pack received a rejection from him." That even caught Raenerys's attention. Knowing that it must be her sister made her happy, that she was rejected by Nevil just like he had rejected her before. Serves them right. Her mind says.

"Let's welcome, our alpha. . . Nevil Lancaster." Nevil didn't even bow his head to acknowledge everyone's appearance. He remained the same high and mighty alpha of the north who never bowed his head to anyone. Making sure they still saw their distance in position, he remained holding his head high, showing his stern look to everyone.

"Good evening, I appreciate your appearance at my party. Enjoy your night." As cold as he is and as a man of few words, he didn't say much more than acknowledge everyone's attendance at his party.

Everyone went back to cheering and let their alpha head to a separate table for it. Nevil, who hadn't seen Raenerys yet, didn't care to drink wine from the glass reserved for him. He took a discreet look around until he felt as if there were prying eyes staring at him. And he didn't err; he caught a woman with extremely dangerous-looking eyes staring at him.

That lady from a year ago, whose presence shouted fragility and weakness, was no longer there. He could only see right now a different woman who'd almost become a stranger to Nevil. She changed a lot; he could hardly recognize if it was still her. Her long, wavy hair turned neck-length and fiery red. The color of her hair seems to be burning like fire now. Her deep, bloody-red lips didn't escape Nevil's eyes either. Her nails were lacquered black, her figure was more defined than before, and she was seductively hot, which made him a little uneasy, but he managed to cover them up by masking his own emotions as he raised his glass in front of her as if he were making a toast with her.

He saw how Raenerys smirked and walked seductively in his direction. She stopped inches away from him, pressing her body closer to Nevil; it was almost touching with her leg wedged in between his legs, close to his groin.

"Long time no see, alpha," Raenerys whispers. It was a simple whisper, but Nevil could feel his fur rising. He clearly knew why his body was reacting to her. She's a living temptation.

"You come, Raenerys the conqueror." Raenerys chuckled in his ears before pulling away and taking the glass placed on his table.

She gazed at the glass, her fingertip tracing its lips as she looked at Nevil, who was watching her actions. "You invited me, it's rude to reject an invitation from the known and mighty alpha of the north, don't you think?" Raenerys grinned triumphantly as she drained the entire contents of the glass, set it back on the table, and turned to stay away a little from Nevil.

"Maybe a year isn't really that long. Nothing has changed in this place. The way it was when I left. . . stayed like that, it's surprising."

"I am not fond of changing anything just because of some circumstance. I don't like changing what's mine either, so don't be surprised. And yeah, a year is not that long to focus on." Anger flashed through Raenerys' eyes, which quickly disappeared with her rapid blinking. She casts a quick glance at Nevil, who is very attentive to her movements. His eyes are watching her mischievously, and even when he opens his lips, he doesn't take his eyes off her.

She continued, a sneer playing on her lips, "Maybe I should start blending in. It's a shame if I don't have fun... I just came from a very far place, it will be my great loss if I don't make the most of my stay here, right?" Nevil silently gulped and feigned to smirk at Raenerys.

"Sure, suit yourself, our important visitor."
