Chapter Three (Part One)

Jayce left his packhouse early the day before the invitation to the eclipse pack’s alpha’s inauguration. He had some business that he had to settle with the new alpha since they had been having a rogue problem and their treaties were almost up. He figured if he showed up early he could get the matters taken care of before the ceremony and just enjoy the celebration. He mindlinked his beta.

‘David, I’m leaving now, keep an eye out for the pack and I’ll see you tomorrow at the celebration.’

‘Alpha, are you sure you want to go alone, why not take Stephanie?’ David answered back.

‘I need to get away from that woman.’ Jayce snarled.

‘She brought up getting married again, didn’t she?’

‘Why can’t she be like any other she-wolf just trying to have a good time until they find their mate?’ Jayce growled.

‘I don’t know alpha, just let her down easy.’

‘I already did, she just won’t take no for an answer.’

‘Have you stopped taking her to bed yet?’

‘Come on, I’m only a wolf.’

He heard David chuckle through the mindlink and reminded him to let the eclipse pack know that he would be there today. He removed his clothes and put them in the bag he had packed before shifting, his wolf Shadow let out a loud howl before he grabbed the bag in his muzzle. His small pack replied and he took off toward the river knowing it would only take a couple of hours in his wolf form.

Jayce didn’t stop running until he reached the river that marked the end of his territory, drinking from the water as he looked over his pitch black fur and near silver colored eyes. He was proud of his wolf form, he was bigger than any of the other wolves in his pack, which wasn’t surprising since he was the alpha. He started to cross the river and was quickly greeted by the scent of strawberries. He followed the smell until he came to the most beautiful white wolf that had amethyst colored eyes. She was just standing up as Shadow let out a low growl of approval. He lost control completely as Shadow pounced on the beautiful she-wolf.

Shadow was in a state of shock at how quickly she was able to get out from underneath him and all they could seem to do was just stare at one another until she shifted back to her human form, covering her body the best she could with her hands. Jayce didn’t understand why, she had to be the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her brownish-red hair hung down to the middle of her back. Her skin was lightly tanned, which generally happened to most wolves since they preferred the outdoors over being stuck inside. Her body was curvy in all the right places. Her stomach toned but not excessively. Her now violet colored eyes showed worry.

He shifted back and took two large steps toward her. Not being able to stop himself he dropped his lips down on hers with a fierce passion as he backed her up to a tree, he picked her up, making her wrap her legs around his waist as he deepened the kiss. He pulled away from her lips and kissed her collarbone. “You are so beautiful.” He whispered as he ran a hand up the back of her thigh, sprinkling fervent kisses on her neck. He kissed her lips again before letting her down. “I’m Jayce Wulfric, your alpha should know that I am coming.”

“I’m Jordyn.” She hesitated and decided it best not to give him her last name. “I’ll lead you to the alpha house.”  She shifted back to her wolf quickly and leisurely started walking. He followed her lead, shifting back to Shadow who was still howling in excitement. He could tell that she was deep in thought so he didn’t try to get her attention as he grabbed his bag in his mouth and stayed next to her as they walked.

As they approached the pack city he realized just how much bigger her pack was than his, he had been here before but never really paid much attention. Instead of just a small town like his pack, that was almost unnoticeable, the town here was the size of a human city. He smelled the barbecued food wafting through the air and spotted a few shops along the way as they walked toward the alpha house as she had called it.

His pack had a pack house, which was fairly large, that was where all the unmated wolves stayed with the alpha until they found their mates. He wondered why she referred to it as the alpha house instead, he thought all wolf towns still used pack houses. She paused in front of a house that put his pack house to shame. She only stood there for a few seconds before a brunette and blonde opened the door.

“Alpha Jayce, I will show you to your room.” The short haired brunette with the nose piercing said with a small smile.

He glanced at Jordyn one more time to take in her image before he followed the brunette up the stairs to a pretty large guest room. The room had an ensuite bathroom, big bay windows that had a desk situated facing out. The bed was a queen size and there was a small loveseat tucked away by a closet. He shifted back to his human form and thanked the brunette before she left quickly, averting her gaze to the bathroom door as she slipped out of the room. It was barely a few seconds before the brunette knocked and stuck her head in the door.
