Tatum’s POV

Tears streamed down my face.

Liam had been fine just moments ago. He had been talking to me, smiling weakly, and for the first time in what felt like forever, I had allowed myself to believe he was getting better.

So why had he suddenly started convulsing?

I didn’t know what to do. My hands trembled violently as I paced back and forth outside his hospital room before finally sinking into one of the waiting chairs.

"Tatum, he’s going to be fine," Dayton assured me gently.

  • Vows Written In Dust    Chapter 41

Tatum's POV Today was the day of the gala. Honestly, I didn't have a good feeling about it. Something about these kinds of events always made me uneasy. Maybe it was the judgment hidden behind polite smiles, or the way powerful people looked at others like they were pieces on a chessboard. But Dayton had personally asked me to come, and after everything he had done for me, there was no way I could refuse him. Still, as I stood in front of the mirror, my thoughts drifted somewhere else entirely. Liam. Even after the doctors assured us that his condition was stable, the image of him convulsing in that hospital bed refused to leave my mind. My chest tightened at the memory. He woke up once. He'll wake up again. I repeated those words silently like a prayer while fastening the delicate earrings Amelia had helped me choose earlier that afternoon. I slipped into a dark emerald dress that flowed elegantly to the floor, paired it with black heels, and spent far too long fixing my mak

  • Vows Written In Dust    Chapter 40

Tatum’s POV It had been days since Liam fell back into a coma, and none of them had been easy. Every morning I woke up hoping for good news, only to be met with the same painful uncertainty. I missed him terribly—the sound of his voice, his weak smile, even the way he always tried to reassure me when he was the one lying in a hospital bed. The doctors kept saying his condition was stable, but stable wasn’t the same as awake. Unfortunately, my annual leave had officially come to an end, and hiding at home wasn’t an option anymore. With a tired sigh, I got out of bed and walked toward the mirror. I chose a simple but elegant navy-blue dress, applied a light layer of makeup to hide the exhaustion beneath my eyes, and tied my hair neatly back. For a moment, I stared at my reflection. I looked composed. I just didn’t feel composed. After grabbing my bag and car keys, I headed downstairs and drove to work. The familiar glass building came into view as traffic crawled through the b

"Tatum, he’s going to be fine," Dayton assured me gently. I nodded, but I couldn’t bring myself to believe it. "Tatum, calm down," Amelia said, trying her best to keep herself composed, though I could hear the fear in her voice. Minutes felt like hours. Every second that passed tightened the knot in my chest. Finally, the doctor and two nurses stepped out of Liam’s room. I shot to my feet immediately. "How is he?" I asked eagerly, my voice shaking. The doctor removed his gloves and looked at us sympathetically. "He’s stable for now," he said. "He suf

Tatum's POV The drive to the hospital was fast, yet agonisingly slow for me. My leg bounced uncontrollably as I kept glancing at the time on my phone. My heart pounded so hard that I could barely hear anything else. Liam's awake. The words echoed over and over in my mind. Please... let him still be awake when I get there. "Can you drive a little faster?" I asked, my voice trembling despite my best efforts to stay calm. "I can't. I don't want to break any traffic rules," Arden replied, his eyes fixed on the road. "Oh..." My shoulders slumped in disappointment. A moment later, without saying another word, the engine hummed louder as he pressed slightly harder on the accelerator. The scenery outside the window blurred a little faster. I turned to look at him. "Thank you," I whispered. He simply gave a small nod, his hands never leaving the steering wheel. Not long after, we arrived at Sun Crest Hospital. The moment the car came to a stop, I pushed the door open and ran ins

  • Vows Written In Dust    Chapter 37

Tatum’s POV Time flew by far too quickly. Before I knew it, our vacation had come to an end, and we were heading back home. As I zipped up my suitcase, I couldn't help but glance around the room one last time. This place had given me a kind of peace I hadn't felt in a long time. A part of me wished the trip could last a little longer, but reality was already calling us back. "Hey, are you packing your stuff already?" Amelia asked as she walked into the room. "Hmm, help me out," I replied with a smile. She walked over without hesitation, and together we folded the last few clothes into our suitcases. "Gosh, I haven't felt this refreshed in ages," Amelia sighed dramatically. "Lowkey, I don't want this vacation to end." I chuckled. "So you can spend more time with Damien?" "Come on!" she laughed, swatting my arm playfully. "Hey!" I laughed, rubbing the spot dramatically. While we were busy bickering, the door opened. Arden stepped inside and cleared his throat, immediately draw

  • Vows Written In Dust    Chapter 36

Tatum's POV As soon as we returned from the beach, I headed straight to our room to freshen up. By the time Arden came in, I had already finished showering and changing. When I stepped out of the bathroom, I found him sitting on the couch, completely absorbed in his phone. Fortunately, I had changed before leaving the bathroom, sparing myself the awkwardness of dressing in front of him. Sensing my presence, he finally looked up. His eyes settled on me, and for a brief moment, neither of us spoke. Warmth crept up my neck, spreading across my cheeks beneath his unwavering gaze. I quickly looked away, pretending to focus on drying my hair. A sudden knock on the door broke the silence. "Who's there?" I called, walking toward it. "Damien." "Okay." Just as I reached for the doorknob, a warm hand closed gently around mine. I froze. A shiver raced through my body at his touch. Slowly, I turned to face Arden. He wasn't looking at the door anymore. He was looking at me. His dark e

ARDEN’S POV I pulled into the driveway of the mansion and handed my keys to the butler before heading inside. The Old Man had requested my presence today. God only knew what scheme he was cooking up this time. As I stepped into the foyer, I nearly collided with his personal assistant. “Wh

Tatum’s POV I arrived at the hospital still reeling from shock,or perhaps it was pure, unadulterated rage. Liam had already been rushed into the ER. I had texted Amelia on the way, and I was slumped in a chair right outside the operating theater, The sound of my racing heart was all I could hea

NIGHT The drive to Arden’s mansion felt endless. Liam was asleep on my lap in the back seat, his tiny fingers curled into my dress as if he was afraid even in his dreams. The driver’s eyes stayed fixed on the road, silent, careful — as though even breathing too loudly might shatter whatever fra
