After we had dinner, pronto, I felt Anika's absence. What made me more conscious her friend Gillian was also not around.

She has a friend I didn't know, and she let her stay here at her house. Are they that close?

My ass was on fire, so I stood up to look for Anika.

Every movement seemed to stop when I captured them talking seriously. Gillian's tears became visible, making my chest pound strangely.

Something is off. They don't seem just friends in my gut feeling. My heart thumped faster than usual when Anika's hand landed on Gillian's cheek.

My whole body trembled at what happened next. Gillian kissed her on the lips, then embraced her with keenness.

Shaking, I tried to move my legs to retreat from this unsavory scenario. I shouldn't let myself witness this shit!

"Jaz?!" Anika called me, but the thunder inside me was more decisive. I averted and walked as fast as possible, returning to the house.

I didn't realize my tears were already streaming. My parents
