LOGINAndres's Pov.
I didn't expect to be alive, so when Rosaura made it clear, I felt irritated. I didn't ask her to save me, and yet she did. Just when I had accepted defeat, she had come to my rescue. But why? Of course, she let out an outburst, obviously angry at the fact that I didn't appreciate what she did for me, and I smiled as I watched her storm off to the taxi. Is there a woman as feisty as her? I'm not sure. I stood up, staggering as I tried to keep myself steady, my eyes were bulging, and I had felt the urge to faint again, but I kept it in. I contemplated jumping into the water again, but decided against that, after all, that was just being stupid, after being saved by a girl. “How did she even know that I was here?” I muttered to myself, walking towards the spot the cab had been, and felt surprised to see a phone there. Unlocking it, I saw that it was hers, with no password also. ‘Did she leave this on purpose or by accident?’ I asked myself within, but didn't bother as I entered her contact list and released a sigh of relief on seeing Evans' number there. “Rosaura?” He called immediately, and he picked up, and I sneezed involuntarily. “It's Andres, come pick me up, I'm at the Floral Lagoon.” “The hell? What are you doing there, boss?” He asked me, and I sighed. “Long story, just come, please,” I told him, shivering uncontrollably as I hung up. I had to try to hide it when Rosaura was around because she seemed to have been in a similar condition, but now, the thing couldn't be hidden anymore. “Shit, be quick, Evans, before I actually die,” I muttered under my breath, and as if being summoned, a black Ferrari pulled up, and Evans came out of it, rushing towards me. “Jesus Christ, what happened to you? Where is Rosaura?” He gasped, looking around while helping me towards the car. “It's a long story,” I mumbled, sitting down as he sat beside me. “Don't tell me you tried to kill yourself? Or was it her?” He asked with a frown, and I turned to him. “It was me, and what if I did? Aren't I the owner of my life?” I asked him also, and he sighed. “You know that if there's any problem, you could bring it to me and I'll…” “You'll what? Help me? How?” I asked him with a glare, but the frown still remained intact over her lips. “You can't be serious, you tried to kill yourself!” He snapped, and I rolled my eyes. “And I would have been successful with it, if not for the fact that I got saved by that new employee!” I scoffed, and he thought for a while before replying. “Wait, don't tell me she saved you?” I nodded, and his eyes widened. “How did she even know, and where is she now?” “I don't know how she did, but all I know is that she is a fùcking pest and I want her out of the company. She left a while ago in a taxi, I don't fucking care where, but she shouldn't come back,” I mumbled, and he rolled his eyes. “For saving you? Are you out of your fùcking mind?” He snapped, and I looked at her, surprised that he dared raise his voice at me. “I thought we were already past this. Don't go back into that suicidal stage if you know what is good for you. You're a grown man now,” he told me, but I ignored him, pretending that I didn't hear him. “You can ignore all you want, you know I'm right.” He sneered at me, and I couldn't help but chuckle. Evans would always be Evans. We passed the company, and I turned to Evans, who met my eye. “You're not going there in these,” He mumbled, and I frowned at him. “I can easily change in my office and have new clothes brought in,” I told him, and he rolled his eyes. “You're not doing that, you are going home, and I'm going with you to prevent you from strangling yourself with a Duraq,” He told me seriously, and I rolled my eyes. We came to stop in front of the villa, and the gatekeeper bowed, opening it immediately. We drove in, and I came out along with Evans, we headed it and I went into my room immediately, drawing out a bath. I spent time in the tub, trying to recollect and think, but the only person who filled my mind was Rosaura. What I felt while staring at her was a feeling I couldn't understand. Was it hatred? Compassion? Happiness? Or was it something else I dreaded? No, it couldn't be the last one, and I am absolutely sure of that. I sighed, coming out and cleaning myself off before putting on another set of clothes. I felt better and headed to the kitchen only to meet Evans there, munching on Buffalo wings. “I know that the only reason you came here was to eat Nana Grace's food,” I mumbled, and he smiled. “Of course, my food is the best after all,” A voice came, and I smiled, acknowledging Nana Grace, an old woman who was in her late 60's, the same woman who had taken care of me since birth. “Good afternoon, Nana,” I greeted, and she smiled at me. “Good afternoon, Andres, you're here early,” she said, dishing rice for Evans, who took it hungrily, and some for me. “You wouldn't guess what happened, nana,” Evans said, staring at me while I glared at him with my corner eye, as if daring him to talk. “What is it?” She asked, turning his face from me to hers, and I prayed silently that he wouldn't spill. “We went swimming, and he nearly drowned,” He said, and I released a relieved breath, but she wasn't convinced. “Tell me another lie,” She told me seriously, and Evans released an awkward grin. “He tried to drown himself,” he finally released, and her eyes turned bloodshot as she turned to me. “Nana, I can explain,” I mumbled, but before I could say anything more, she removed one of her loafers, aiming for my head and throwing it. I didn't see it coming, and before I could dodge, it met my head, hitting it roughly as it started bleeding. “YOU TRIED TO DO WHAT!?”Rosa's POVI woke that morning, feeling very lazy, and it was a Monday morning. I was home alone. Quinn had travelled for three days for an I.T training. “Alright, let’s see what this chip has given us so far,” I said, scrolling through the files on my laptop. “It’s not flooded yet, but it’s steady. Gary is definitely hiding things. Big things for that matter. These transfers don’t make sense. And these late-night meetings? Something’s off.”I leaned back on the couch and sighed. “I should feel moved about this. We’re moving in the right direction. Why do I feel so… restless?”I picked up my phone and called Quinn.“Hey Q,” I said in a toddler tone.“Rosa! Finally. I’ve been waiting. How did the data look this past weekend?” she asked.“Pretty solid, actually. I’ve gone through everything the chip sent. It’s confirming what we suspected. Gary’s hiding a lot. There are encrypted folders he keeps opening, weird offshore movements, and meetings that aren’t on any official calendar. It’s
Andres's POV“Monday morning and I’m already on edge,” I muttered, gripping the steering wheel. “The medicine took forever to settle this weekend. It kept me staring at the ceiling for hours. And Billy’s words keep replaying… ‘Talk to her. You deserve something good.’ Talk to her? How? I’ve been turning that over for two days straight, and I’m still stuck.”I parked the car and headed inside the building. “Just breathe. Get through the day. One step at a time.”Jefferson was waiting near my office. “Morning, boss. You good? You look like the weekend kicked your ass.”“Morning, Jeff. Rough weekend, yeah. The medication settled more slowly than usual. What’s the latest on Meridian?” I asked, dropping into my chair.Jefferson sat across from me. “Update looks really clean and strong. Projections are up, client feedback is positive, and the risk section is tighter than last week. We’re in a good spot.”“That’s solid news. Walk me through the numbers again,” I said.“Revenue forecast is lo
Andres's POV“Shit… slow down, just slow down,” I breathed hard, sitting on the edge of the bed, gripping my knees so tight. “Why today? Come on… breathe with me. One… two… three… four. In… hold it… out slowly. I’m trying. I’m really trying here.”My arms kept shaking. I rocked forward a little, jaw locked. “Okay… okay, deeper breaths. One… two… three… four. You’re not falling apart. You’ve done this a hundred times. Just pass already, please. I need to get to work. Nobody can see me like this.”I exhaled shakily, flexing my fingers. “There… yeah, it’s easing up. Good. You’re alright, Andres. You’re fine. Get up. Put your shirt on. Tie straight. Look like the guy who just closed the Creston deal with his team. Nobody knows about your secret. They will never know.”“Morning, Jeff. Come in, close the door,” I said as Jefferson stepped inside.“Morning, boss. You got a minute?” he asked.“Always for you. Sit down. What’s going on?” I replied.Jefferson leaned forward. “Meridian proposal
Rosa's POV“Rosa, there you are. I’ve been looking for you,” Gary said, his voice smooth as he stepped closer to me near the elevator. “Everyone’s gone home already. Perfect timing.”I tilted my head slightly toward him, smiling softly. “Gary. You always seem to appear when things get quiet. What’s on your mind?”He chuckled, standing just close enough that I could smell his cologne. “You. All evening, I couldn’t stop thinking about how everyone was talking about how incredible you were. And at the celebration… that laugh of yours? Dangerous.”“Dangerous?” I asked, letting a light laugh escape as I looked up at him. “I was just celebrating the win with everyone. You seemed to be enjoying yourself, too.”“Oh, I was. But mostly I was enjoying watching you,” he replied, his tone dropping playfully. “You light up a room, Rosa. I meant what I said earlier. You and I should have dinner. Just us, you know ...Good food, better conversation. What do you say?”I pretended to think about it, bit
Andres's POV“Boss, we did it! Creston actually signed!” Jefferson called out, raising his glass high across the room.I stood at the edge with my barely touched drink, letting the warmth of the win settle in. “Yeah, we did. The team worked their asses off. Feels good, doesn’t it?”“Feels amazing!” Sarah from finance laughed. “Open bar tonight? My tab is on the company, right?”“Everything’s on the company tonight,” I replied, smiling slightly. “Drink up. We earned this.”The team was looser than they’d been in months. Laughter bounced off the walls. Someone turned the music up a notch. I let myself enjoy the moment, watching everyone relax for once. Then Gary walked in.“Parties already started without me?” Gary announced with that easy, perfect smile, sliding through the crowd like he owned the place. “Andres, my man! Congratulations on landing Creston. Hell of a win.”“Gary,” I said. “Didn’t know you were coming by.”“Couldn’t miss celebrating with the team. You know me.” Gary wink
Rosa's POV“Miss Morales, you remind me so much of my daughter. Same fire in the eyes, same way of cutting through the nonsense,” Mr. Creston said, shaking my hand firmly.I smiled warmly, squeezing his hand back. “Thank you, sir. That means a lot coming from you. I’m really glad we could find common ground today.”“You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. Not many young people do these days. Keep that up, and you’ll go far,” he replied, nodding with approval.“I’ll do my best. Thank you again for trusting us with this,” I said softly. The moment the door closed behind him, I let the smile drop completely. I started gathering my files and notes when Andres’s voice came from across the table.“Good work.”I looked up and found him already staring at me. For a second, neither of us moved. The air felt thick, heavy with everything we weren’t saying. I held his gaze, my heart beating a little faster.“Thank you, sir,” I said quietly, breaking the moment. I looked back down at my papers.
Andres's POVI leaned against my desk, arms crossed, repeating the same line in my head like a damn mantra. She’s the most qualified, that’s all. Nothing more.Jefferson walked in holding a fresh cup of coffee, eyebrows already raised like he could smell the bullshit from a mile away.“Andres, you
Rosa's POV“Give me my damn phone right now, Andres. I didn’t come here for anything else.”Andres leaned back in his chair, arms folded tight across his chest, eyes drilling into me like he could see every secret in me. “Then explain why Quinn is saved under just one letter. One single letter, Ros
Rosa's POVI was halfway down the second-floor corridor when Quinn's call came in.I picked up before the second ring. "What?""Found your phone."I stopped walking. "What do you mean you found it?""I mean, I found it." Her fingers were already moving fast in the background; I could hear them. "I
Andres's POV"She's suspicious."Jefferson didn't even look up. "You've said that four times today, boss.""Because that's the truth."I stood from my desk and walked to the window. The city below was moving the way it always did, busy and completely normal, completely indifferent to the fact that
