Rosa's POV.

“Can you see everything?” I asked Quinn over the micro-sized AirPod in my ear, and she sighed.

“I can, I told you the mini cameras would work,” She told me in such a boastful way, and I smiled.

Looking around, I could pick out the elites, and I fidgeted a bit.

“Are you sure I won't get caught?” I asked Quinn, and I heard her scoff.

“This is Rose speaking in you, shut her up and bring out Rosaura,” She commanded, and I smiled, always the girl to cheer me up.

“Hello, Mi lady,” I heard someone say behind me, and turned to see a young man in a suit, recognizing him from the list of invitees Quinn gave me earlier. I knew he was the CEO of Maxwell's Corps, which he inherited from his father.

“Good evening, Mr Enzo maxwell” I replied, giving a little curtsy.

“You know me?” He asked, and I nodded with a smile.

“How wouldn't I know the outstandingly handsome CEO of Maxwell Corps?” I asked and couldn't help but chuckle inwardly at the proud look on his face.

Men would always be men.

“Of course, I am indeed popular, may I say miss…” He paused, and I understood immediately.

“Miss Rosaura, Rosaura Morales”

“May I see Miss Rosaura that you are indeed a beautiful lady, care for a dance?” He asked and could hear Quinn burst out laughing.

“What?” I asked from the side of my mouth so as not to sound crazy, and she replied.

“He doesn't know who he just came in contact with,” I rolled my eyes and looked back at Enzo, who had his arm outstretched.

“As much as I love to dance with you, I plead to disagree.” He dropped his arm immediately and smiled, trying to cover his surprise.

“Oh, I guess next time then,” He said, walking away.

Quinn started laughing again, and I shushed her.

“He seems like a nice man.”

“There are no nice men in this world, only the ones who need you, and the ones who use you,” I told her, and she remained silent afterwards.

I looked around for the one person I came to see, Gary, but couldn't make out any sight of him.

“Quinn, are you positive that he's coming today?” I asked her, and she sighed.

“I am positive, at least, maybe.”

“Shit,” I cursed slightly, only to see a group of men at the corner, drinking.

I moved closer, listening to their conversation; the smallest information can be helpful anyway.

“I know you would make a great CEO of Beaumont Estates, Mr Andres,” I heard one of them say, and my eyes widened.

Is Gary not the CEO?

“What do you think is the major criterion for a CEO of a company?” the supposed Andres asked, and the rest laughed over it.

“It's pretty simple, of course, He has to be the biological son, I don't think any other thing matters.” One amongst them answered, and I nearly scowled.

What if the son is as useless as Gary?

“I beg to differ, sir. I believe that one of the major criteria for a CEO of a company should be a strategic visionary who would be able to make timely decisions and keep up a resilient culture,” I answered, and they all turned to me.

“I don't see why a woman would be bold enough to answer a question meant for men,” The one I interrupted said, and I shrugged.

“If the woman's view is way more on point than the man's own, I don't see why not,” I replied, and they all chuckled again.

“A feisty one, you are. My name is Andres.” The latter introduced, stretching forth his arms.

“Rosaura Morales, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” I took his palm for a shake and felt a spark immediately.

Redrawing, I smiled a little.

What was that?

“You sure are a defyingly smart lady,” He said.

“Smart enough to get a job at your company?” I asked slyly, and he laughed.

“Smart enough to be my wife,” He winked, and I frowned.

“Are you trying to flirt with me, Mr Andres?" I asked, and he shrugged.

“Maybe, maybe not, figure it out for yourself,” He said, winking again, and I felt my heart skip a beat.

What the hell is wrong with this stupid thing in my chest?

“Ignore him, I am Evans Underwood. If you are willing to apply, then you could send it through the company's email, beaumontestates@g***l.com.” One of the men said, and I acknowledged him with a small smile.

“Thank you, Nice to meet you again, Mr Andres, Mr Evans, I shall take my leave.” I curtsied a bit, turning to take my leave.

“Nice to meet you, too, Rosaura Morales,” Andres replied.

The way he said my name stilled me, and I paused for 0.25 seconds before leaving.

“Did you get all that?” I asked Quinn once outside.

“Yes, if Gary is not the CEO, it means that Mr Beaumont has other children.”

Could it be that Andres was his child?

No, a brother to Gary wouldn't have been so nice?

“The email?”

“I'm working on it, I could get you in, let's say…Three days?” She said, and I frowned.

“Make that a day,” I mumbled, and she scoffed.

“I am not your personal sidekick, Rosaura!” She snapped at me, and I had to squint my eyes due to her loud voice.

“Fine, fine, do what you want,” I sneered at her, and she scoffed again.

“I'll get you the job by tomorrow, you're welcome.” The bud disconnected afterwards, and I rolled my eyes.

“Again with the anger issues,” I muttered, removing the tiny piece from my ear and placing it in my pocket.

I waited for a taxi to go by, and when it did, I hailed it and entered, my mind reminiscing through the past as I stared at the mansion as we passed.

Gary Beaumont ruined my life six years ago, and now, I'll ruin his.

Rosa's POVI woke that morning, feeling very lazy, and it was a Monday morning. I was home alone. Quinn had travelled for three days for an I.T training. “Alright, let’s see what this chip has given us so far,” I said, scrolling through the files on my laptop. “It’s not flooded yet, but it’s steady. Gary is definitely hiding things. Big things for that matter. These transfers don’t make sense. And these late-night meetings? Something’s off.”I leaned back on the couch and sighed. “I should feel moved about this. We’re moving in the right direction. Why do I feel so… restless?”I picked up my phone and called Quinn.“Hey Q,” I said in a toddler tone.“Rosa! Finally. I’ve been waiting. How did the data look this past weekend?” she asked.“Pretty solid, actually. I’ve gone through everything the chip sent. It’s confirming what we suspected. Gary’s hiding a lot. There are encrypted folders he keeps opening, weird offshore movements, and meetings that aren’t on any official calendar. It’s

Andres's POV“Monday morning and I’m already on edge,” I muttered, gripping the steering wheel. “The medicine took forever to settle this weekend. It kept me staring at the ceiling for hours. And Billy’s words keep replaying… ‘Talk to her. You deserve something good.’ Talk to her? How? I’ve been turning that over for two days straight, and I’m still stuck.”I parked the car and headed inside the building. “Just breathe. Get through the day. One step at a time.”Jefferson was waiting near my office. “Morning, boss. You good? You look like the weekend kicked your ass.”“Morning, Jeff. Rough weekend, yeah. The medication settled more slowly than usual. What’s the latest on Meridian?” I asked, dropping into my chair.Jefferson sat across from me. “Update looks really clean and strong. Projections are up, client feedback is positive, and the risk section is tighter than last week. We’re in a good spot.”“That’s solid news. Walk me through the numbers again,” I said.“Revenue forecast is lo

Andres's POV“Shit… slow down, just slow down,” I breathed hard, sitting on the edge of the bed, gripping my knees so tight. “Why today? Come on… breathe with me. One… two… three… four. In… hold it… out slowly. I’m trying. I’m really trying here.”My arms kept shaking. I rocked forward a little, jaw locked. “Okay… okay, deeper breaths. One… two… three… four. You’re not falling apart. You’ve done this a hundred times. Just pass already, please. I need to get to work. Nobody can see me like this.”I exhaled shakily, flexing my fingers. “There… yeah, it’s easing up. Good. You’re alright, Andres. You’re fine. Get up. Put your shirt on. Tie straight. Look like the guy who just closed the Creston deal with his team. Nobody knows about your secret. They will never know.”“Morning, Jeff. Come in, close the door,” I said as Jefferson stepped inside.“Morning, boss. You got a minute?” he asked.“Always for you. Sit down. What’s going on?” I replied.Jefferson leaned forward. “Meridian proposal

Rosa's POV“Rosa, there you are. I’ve been looking for you,” Gary said, his voice smooth as he stepped closer to me near the elevator. “Everyone’s gone home already. Perfect timing.”I tilted my head slightly toward him, smiling softly. “Gary. You always seem to appear when things get quiet. What’s on your mind?”He chuckled, standing just close enough that I could smell his cologne. “You. All evening, I couldn’t stop thinking about how everyone was talking about how incredible you were. And at the celebration… that laugh of yours? Dangerous.”“Dangerous?” I asked, letting a light laugh escape as I looked up at him. “I was just celebrating the win with everyone. You seemed to be enjoying yourself, too.”“Oh, I was. But mostly I was enjoying watching you,” he replied, his tone dropping playfully. “You light up a room, Rosa. I meant what I said earlier. You and I should have dinner. Just us, you know ...Good food, better conversation. What do you say?”I pretended to think about it, bit

Andres's POV“Boss, we did it! Creston actually signed!” Jefferson called out, raising his glass high across the room.I stood at the edge with my barely touched drink, letting the warmth of the win settle in. “Yeah, we did. The team worked their asses off. Feels good, doesn’t it?”“Feels amazing!” Sarah from finance laughed. “Open bar tonight? My tab is on the company, right?”“Everything’s on the company tonight,” I replied, smiling slightly. “Drink up. We earned this.”The team was looser than they’d been in months. Laughter bounced off the walls. Someone turned the music up a notch. I let myself enjoy the moment, watching everyone relax for once. Then Gary walked in.“Parties already started without me?” Gary announced with that easy, perfect smile, sliding through the crowd like he owned the place. “Andres, my man! Congratulations on landing Creston. Hell of a win.”“Gary,” I said. “Didn’t know you were coming by.”“Couldn’t miss celebrating with the team. You know me.” Gary wink

Rosa's POV“Miss Morales, you remind me so much of my daughter. Same fire in the eyes, same way of cutting through the nonsense,” Mr. Creston said, shaking my hand firmly.I smiled warmly, squeezing his hand back. “Thank you, sir. That means a lot coming from you. I’m really glad we could find common ground today.”“You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. Not many young people do these days. Keep that up, and you’ll go far,” he replied, nodding with approval.“I’ll do my best. Thank you again for trusting us with this,” I said softly. The moment the door closed behind him, I let the smile drop completely. I started gathering my files and notes when Andres’s voice came from across the table.“Good work.”I looked up and found him already staring at me. For a second, neither of us moved. The air felt thick, heavy with everything we weren’t saying. I held his gaze, my heart beating a little faster.“Thank you, sir,” I said quietly, breaking the moment. I looked back down at my papers.
