I didn't have it in mind to attend the gathering, but Dad said it was good to show my face. I find it funny how he coaxes me, yet couldn't care less about my brother, Gary, but when I saw her, dressed prettily in her red cocktail dress, I just knew I had to have her.
But what if she's like the others?
Pretty, but lacking a lot upstairs, I had to be scared. I didn't want to get tangled with a beautiful woman with no brains.
However, the way she answered my question so smartly, I couldn't help but appear dazzled.
“Don't tell me you like her,” I heard Evans groan beside me, and I rolled my eyes.
“And if I do?” I asked, and he facepalmed.
“You? Andres Beaumont? Don't make me laugh,” He chuckled softly, and I smiled a little.
Evans was Gary's PA, but we had been friends since childhood, even before he got that job in our company.
“I heard Mr Beaumont saying that you would be the new CEO,” He started, and I sighed.
“I told him I wanted it to be Gary; he is way more fit for that spot…”
“We both know that is a lie. The company is in enough trouble already. If it gets handed over to Gary, then it'd destroy the company totally,” He snapped quietly, and I eyed him.
“You know you can get fired for this, right?” I asked him seriously, and he waved off the question.
“I don't care, after all, people usually don't agree with the truth,” He mumbled, walking away.
I rolled my eyes again, picking up another glass of champagne from a passing waiter, and sipping it.
“You look handsome as always, Andres,” I heard a voice which I recognized immediately as Stella, my betrothed.
“You flatter me with your compliment, Stella,” I said with a forced smile, and she smiled also.
“Care to dance?”
“Last time I checked, I'm the one who is supposed to ask you to dance,” I said with a slight chuckle, and she shrugged.
“Well, since you weren't willing to, I decided to make/ the first move.”
A normal person would have smiled, especially if it was someone who liked her, but I resisted the urge to frown.
“I'm not in the mood for dancing, Stella,” I told her politely, but I knew she wouldn't stop.
“Are you sure, I mean?”
“I said I'm not in the mood, Stella!” I snapped, and all eyes turned to us immediately.
I composed myself, releasing a little awkward cough.
“Not a nice way to treat your betrothed, Andres.”
“That would be Mr Andres to you!” I told her seriously, and she giggled.
“I don't have to be so formal with my future husband, do I?” She asked, and I nodded.
“Actually, you do,” I replied, wanting to walk away, only for her to say.
“You know you need me and my father, Andres, especially now that the company is in chaos. If I were you, I would be nicer,” She walked away sassily, and I sneered.
“What a pick me.”
Dropping the champagne glass, I headed into the mansion, only to meet Gary in the living room.
“You're having fun, right? After stealing my party,” I paused for a while, staring at him with stoic eyes before turning around and going upstairs.
“All you do is steal anyway, steal my party, steal my position, steal my company!” He yelled at me, and I gritted my teeth, trying to shut him out.
“I don't even want the shitty company!” I had the urge to yell back, but instead ignored it.
I knew better than to answer him; it'd only spark more chaos, and that I don't want.
Entering my room, I released my tie and let out a breath of relief as if I had just escaped from a tight space, maybe because I did.
I lay down for a while, wanting to rest my eyes before I do anything else, only to be swept away into dreamland.
I didn't realize I had fallen asleep until the constant beeping from my phone woke me up, and I grabbed it with a groan.
My drowsy eyes awoke instantly as I saw the message that popped up.
‘Rosaura Morales has been given the position of senior estate agent.’
“The hell!?” I gasped. From the picture, I could tell that it was the girl from yesterday, but how?
No one gets hired this quickly, no matter how smart or how influential you are.
She obviously used her charm to get that position, but that wasn't the only thing that surprised me.
For this message to be sent as a DM, it only means that she is under me, shit!
Well, we'll work out fine, as long as those weird sparks from yesterday don't continue, and that she doesn't have an ulterior motive.
I placed a call to my P.A, Jefferson, and he picked up after the third ring.
“Good morning, boss, are you coming to work today?” He asked, and I rolled my eyes.
Oh yeah, it's morning already.
“Yes, I am, but I would be a little late. We have a new senior agent on our side. Keep an eye on her.”
“A senior agent? How? We didn't get any files for the application, nor did we get any heads up! He said surprisingly and I sighed.
“Exactly my point, I don't trust her, so keep an eye on her, before I come at least,” I told him before ending the call.
I held my forehead, feeling pain.
My eyes grew dizzy, and I had to use my arms to navigate before finding my drawer.
Opening it with shaky arms, I took out the Dorsette box in it, removing the medicine in it, and swallowing it.
I stilled for a minute, breathing shakily with teary eyes.
“It'd all be over soon,” I reassured myself, wiping away the tears that nearly fell from my eyes.
I looked up at my mum's picture hanging on the wall, and felt the urge to cry again.
It'd all be over soon.
Rosa's POVI woke that morning, feeling very lazy, and it was a Monday morning. I was home alone. Quinn had travelled for three days for an I.T training. “Alright, let’s see what this chip has given us so far,” I said, scrolling through the files on my laptop. “It’s not flooded yet, but it’s steady. Gary is definitely hiding things. Big things for that matter. These transfers don’t make sense. And these late-night meetings? Something’s off.”I leaned back on the couch and sighed. “I should feel moved about this. We’re moving in the right direction. Why do I feel so… restless?”I picked up my phone and called Quinn.“Hey Q,” I said in a toddler tone.“Rosa! Finally. I’ve been waiting. How did the data look this past weekend?” she asked.“Pretty solid, actually. I’ve gone through everything the chip sent. It’s confirming what we suspected. Gary’s hiding a lot. There are encrypted folders he keeps opening, weird offshore movements, and meetings that aren’t on any official calendar. It’s
Andres's POV“Monday morning and I’m already on edge,” I muttered, gripping the steering wheel. “The medicine took forever to settle this weekend. It kept me staring at the ceiling for hours. And Billy’s words keep replaying… ‘Talk to her. You deserve something good.’ Talk to her? How? I’ve been turning that over for two days straight, and I’m still stuck.”I parked the car and headed inside the building. “Just breathe. Get through the day. One step at a time.”Jefferson was waiting near my office. “Morning, boss. You good? You look like the weekend kicked your ass.”“Morning, Jeff. Rough weekend, yeah. The medication settled more slowly than usual. What’s the latest on Meridian?” I asked, dropping into my chair.Jefferson sat across from me. “Update looks really clean and strong. Projections are up, client feedback is positive, and the risk section is tighter than last week. We’re in a good spot.”“That’s solid news. Walk me through the numbers again,” I said.“Revenue forecast is lo
Andres's POV“Shit… slow down, just slow down,” I breathed hard, sitting on the edge of the bed, gripping my knees so tight. “Why today? Come on… breathe with me. One… two… three… four. In… hold it… out slowly. I’m trying. I’m really trying here.”My arms kept shaking. I rocked forward a little, jaw locked. “Okay… okay, deeper breaths. One… two… three… four. You’re not falling apart. You’ve done this a hundred times. Just pass already, please. I need to get to work. Nobody can see me like this.”I exhaled shakily, flexing my fingers. “There… yeah, it’s easing up. Good. You’re alright, Andres. You’re fine. Get up. Put your shirt on. Tie straight. Look like the guy who just closed the Creston deal with his team. Nobody knows about your secret. They will never know.”“Morning, Jeff. Come in, close the door,” I said as Jefferson stepped inside.“Morning, boss. You got a minute?” he asked.“Always for you. Sit down. What’s going on?” I replied.Jefferson leaned forward. “Meridian proposal
Rosa's POV“Rosa, there you are. I’ve been looking for you,” Gary said, his voice smooth as he stepped closer to me near the elevator. “Everyone’s gone home already. Perfect timing.”I tilted my head slightly toward him, smiling softly. “Gary. You always seem to appear when things get quiet. What’s on your mind?”He chuckled, standing just close enough that I could smell his cologne. “You. All evening, I couldn’t stop thinking about how everyone was talking about how incredible you were. And at the celebration… that laugh of yours? Dangerous.”“Dangerous?” I asked, letting a light laugh escape as I looked up at him. “I was just celebrating the win with everyone. You seemed to be enjoying yourself, too.”“Oh, I was. But mostly I was enjoying watching you,” he replied, his tone dropping playfully. “You light up a room, Rosa. I meant what I said earlier. You and I should have dinner. Just us, you know ...Good food, better conversation. What do you say?”I pretended to think about it, bit
Andres's POV“Boss, we did it! Creston actually signed!” Jefferson called out, raising his glass high across the room.I stood at the edge with my barely touched drink, letting the warmth of the win settle in. “Yeah, we did. The team worked their asses off. Feels good, doesn’t it?”“Feels amazing!” Sarah from finance laughed. “Open bar tonight? My tab is on the company, right?”“Everything’s on the company tonight,” I replied, smiling slightly. “Drink up. We earned this.”The team was looser than they’d been in months. Laughter bounced off the walls. Someone turned the music up a notch. I let myself enjoy the moment, watching everyone relax for once. Then Gary walked in.“Parties already started without me?” Gary announced with that easy, perfect smile, sliding through the crowd like he owned the place. “Andres, my man! Congratulations on landing Creston. Hell of a win.”“Gary,” I said. “Didn’t know you were coming by.”“Couldn’t miss celebrating with the team. You know me.” Gary wink
Rosa's POV“Miss Morales, you remind me so much of my daughter. Same fire in the eyes, same way of cutting through the nonsense,” Mr. Creston said, shaking my hand firmly.I smiled warmly, squeezing his hand back. “Thank you, sir. That means a lot coming from you. I’m really glad we could find common ground today.”“You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. Not many young people do these days. Keep that up, and you’ll go far,” he replied, nodding with approval.“I’ll do my best. Thank you again for trusting us with this,” I said softly. The moment the door closed behind him, I let the smile drop completely. I started gathering my files and notes when Andres’s voice came from across the table.“Good work.”I looked up and found him already staring at me. For a second, neither of us moved. The air felt thick, heavy with everything we weren’t saying. I held his gaze, my heart beating a little faster.“Thank you, sir,” I said quietly, breaking the moment. I looked back down at my papers.
Rosa's Pov.I knew I needed to muster all the self-courage in me, and I did. I actually had a conversation with Gary, without letting anything out, and now he has invited me to his suite. That wasn't the thing that bothered me, though; I was more concerned with the fact that he was Lucas Beaumont's

Rosa's Pov.I didn't expect Andres to spit on me the same way he did, but with the look in his eyes, he seemed like someone who wasn't in the right state of mind, so I let it go at the last minute. Now, my plan is to find Morgan.Andres made it clear that he didn't trust me, and since he's my boss,
