YOU ARE SO HORRIBLE.

“Oh, my! Did you lose weight, ma’am?”

I glanced at the middle-aged woman who helped in putting the wedding dress on and then looked at my reflection in the big dressing mirror in front of me.

The wedding is tomorrow and I am just trying out the dress.

“W…why did you say that?”

“The last time you came for the dress fitting. It was so tight that we had to loosen it a bit. That’s why…”

“It’s the wedding stress.”

I turned around gently as I watched my mum enter and said.

Wedding stress? I chuckled slightly.

“I think it runs in the family. I lost over three kg when I was preparing for my wedding too,” she said as a joke and the woman laughed too.

“I can understand that so much! A lot of brides lost weight when preparing for their wedding. It’s fine, we can just adjust it quickly. Tomorrow is the wedding,” she looked at me and smiled.

I looked at myself for the umpteenth time and curled my fist into a tight ball. This is indeed not what I had envisioned for myself.

“I will pick another dress,” I said without thinking and my mum widened her eyes.

“W…why? We can easily amend this dress? You loved it so much and talked about it so much. I will make sure it…”

“I don’t love it. I will pick another dress,” I repeated, this time, pinning my eyes on hers.

“But…”

“Can you give us a moment alone, please?” My mother asked and the woman nodded her head gently.

She nodded her head at her assistants and they all went out of the dressing room together.

As my mother moved in front of me, I bit my lower lips and looked away.

“What are you doing?”

“What do you mean? I am simply asking for a change of dress.”

“You could as well tell everyone that you are not Emerald!” She whispered shouted.

“Do you want me to?” I raised my brow and smiled a little.

I would love for nothing more than that. Ever since I entered this place. Everyone has been addressing me as Emerald.

It is taking everything and the little sanity I had left in me to not yell to their faces that I am Sapphire and not Emerald!

As if standing in for her on her wedding wasn’t enough. I would be using the same jewelry, wedding dress, shoes, and everything she had picked and wanted for herself!

My parents had made me trim my hair a little to the length of Emerald’s hair this morning before we left the house. I had long, black raven hair which nearly touched my butt and Emerald had the same, just different length. My hair of many years was trimmed to the bra length because I was replacing her!

Everything I was doing was practically screaming her name!

My father had ceased my phone this morning and had handed Emerald’s phone to me.

Huh, he said I was going to have mine after she woke up.

Now, the last thing I wouldn't take was the wedding dress she had picked for herself. Apart from the fact that it was too revealing, I was not going to wear it!

As heaven would have it too, I was skinnier than her and that was not bad either.

“Don’t be stupid, Sapphire.”

“I am going to pick another dress. Can’t I do that much?!” I shouted and then breathed in quickly. People were outside and it wouldn’t look well if they thought I was not interested in the wedding or I was different.

“You can’t! Emerald would not like that when she wakes up! The least you can do for her is to wear the dress she had picked,” my mother said.

I scoffed at her statement and swept my hair to the back harshly. “What?”

“Even now… you still think and worry about her. How… how could you be so indifferent to me, how?!”

“As if making me replace her wasn't enough, you and Dad made me do everything to look like her. And these stupid contact lenses?! It's itching so much and I am just trying my best to be fine with it!” I cried.

Emerald has hazel eyes and I have Amber eyes. Our eyes looked quite similar from afar but still so different. Emerald’s eyes contain specks of amber and gold while mine are of a solid gold hue. Still, my parents forced me to wear contact lenses. He said Daniel might have taken note of it.

“Dear, you just have to put up with it for a while. It's nothing serious,” my mom said and dropped her hand on my shoulder.

I looked at her again and shook my head. These people are so broken beyond repair. I am too.

“I will get another wedding dress.”

“Sapphire,” she groaned and pinned her eyes on mine.

“It's not like it is your wedding. After this is over, you will get married to the man you want and everything you chose will be yours. You can…”

I didn't let her finish before I got down from the dressing stand. I scurried over to the table beside me, grabbed the glass of red wine that the designer had been drinking earlier, and then splashed it over the white dress that I was wearing.

“Are you insane!” My mum screamed and the designer rushed in almost immediately.

“What’s going…” she stopped halfway as she looked at me.

She covered her mouth with her hands and stared down at my dress.

The white, sparkling, flowing wedding dress was now awfully stained in red and I knew much that it might as well be ruined.

My mum covered the space between us and slapped me across the face. Hard.

I refused to touch my hot cheek. I refused to show that it hurt. I pressed my lips together and folded my fist tightly.

“I… I can choose another wedding dress now, right?”

“You are so horrible, Sa… Emerald,” she said and swallowed hard as she quickly corrected herself.

I raised a brow and then turned to look at the woman who still had shock registered on her face. “You have ready-made dresses already. I will go with any of them,” I said to her and she nodded her head slowly.

My mum moved away from me as the woman began to take my measurements and I looked away from her also. After she was done, I went to sit in the chair across the room and the moment I settled in, I heard a phone ring beside me and I frowned at the unfamiliar ringing tone. I placed my hand on my handbag and when I realized it was coming from my bag, I sighed.

This was Emerald’s phone and whoever was calling wanted to speak to her.

“Who?” my mum asked.

I glanced at her for a few seconds and then opened my bag zipper slowly.

I frowned at the caller ID and I turned the phone in her direction.

“LOGAN.*heart emojiX3.”

“It is Logan,” I said to her.

“Talk to him.”

I sucked my lower lips and then breathed in and out. I picked up the call and then placed the phone in my ear gently.

“Hi, Emerald.”

I felt a lump in my throat and I swallowed hard.

He just called me Emerald.

“Hi,” I finally said.

“You know, right now, you do not look like a happy bride,” he said and I frowned at his statement.

“What… what do you mean?” I asked with a stammer.

“You look like you are forced… or something,” he said again.

I look like I am forced.

Of course, I look like that and that is because I am!

I almost screamed at him.

“I don't know…” I was going to say when I halted abruptly.

Hold on, he could only say that if he saw me…

I looked around hurriedly and unconsciously held my breath when I saw the familiar figure standing by the curtain.

“Daniel,” his name dropped out of my lips and I stood up gently.

“Did I surprise you?” he walked in fully.

“W… what are you doing here?” I asked and hiccuped.

It just felt like I was caught doing something wrong.

Of course, I was.

“Is this not your wedding dress?” he asked as he stared at the ruined dress on the floor.

I bit my lower lip and looked down at the wedding dress that I had poured wine on and then returned to look at him.

“Did… you ruin it?” he asked and I hiccupped again.

What the fuck is wrong with me?!

“You did,” his lips tugged into a smirk, and then pinned his eyes on mine.

“You don't want to get married again?” he asked again and I exhaled.

Why was this man here and what is with this sudden interrogation?
