Chapter Four

This is in Wunmi's pov

"Wunmi, I don't really believe in coincidences, your new boss is Tayo and your first love is also called Tayo. Maybe the Lord has finally brought him back to you." Lara said.

I shook my head as I chuckled at her last words. "I really don’t know, but I’ll confront him about it, only if he is not mean to me today." I got up from the bed and took my bag. “But I really hope he is the one. You know I said Mr Tayo looks so familiar.”

“You did. They might be the same one though.”

"Okay,” I shrugged. “I'll be on my way to work now, prepare food before I come please. I’ll like that spagetti and stew."

“I’m now your cook, right? It’s not only Spagetti, you’ll see Macaroni.” She hissed playfully. "Abeg bye-bye, Go and meet your boss.

I laughed and went out of the house.

It was a Thursday morning, the shops were not fully opened yet. I took a public transport to work and got there almost late as a result of the traffic congestion.

"Good morning." I greeted Natasha, the receptionist as I entered. She frowned at me and turned her face back to the computer. I furrowed my brows at her, then I went inside the office, trying to understand what was up with her since yesterday.

I got to Caroline's seat but she wasn't there, I was about to leave to mine when I saw her coming out of Uncle Kayode's office.

"Good morning Wunmi." She greeted me with a hug.

I smiled and responded to the hug."Good morning, how are you?"

"I'm very good, how are you too?" She walked to her seat after we both pulled away from the hug.

"I'm fine, is Uncle in?"

"No." She shook her head, "I went to drop some files on his table, Mr Tayo asked me to put it there."

My eyes widened instantly. "He's around?"

"Yes, but don't worry, you're not late. Everyone came early because of the presentation today." She smiled at my reaction.

"What presentation?"

"Don't worry, Mr Tayo would tell you."

I went into my office and dropped my bag, then I knocked on his door.

"Come in."

I wondered how he saw me then I remembered there's a glass window at the side of the office, he must have seen me coming inside.

"Good morning sir." I said as I closed the door behind me.

"Good morning." He looked up from the paper work he was doing. "Why were you late?"

Holy Shit! What would I say to this? Yeah, tell him the truth.

"I was held up in traffic." I replied him.

He didn’t say a word but his gaze were set on me like he was going to rip me off anytime soon.

I opened my mouth to talk but nothing came, I shook my head and swallowed instead.

Mr Tayo laughed at me, "Can't you just say you aren't late, I won't bite you. I might have been a little scary yesterday but Uncle Kayode caused that."

I frowned. "I'm not scared, I don't just know what to say anymore."

He stood up from his seat, "Oh shut up." he walked to the coffee machine beside him and made some for himself. "Want some?"

"No thank you." I gave a small smile.

“To be honest, I really didn’t want you here.”

Good, he’s admitting his errors.

I stared at him, waiting for him to continue.

“I never wanted to see you here, I wished you never came.”

Now I’m confused, What is he talking about?

“I don’t understand you sir.”

“In summary, I don’t want a secretary, but it’s all good now. I don’t have a choice.”

“Oh.” I mouthed and gave a smile. He ruined my hopes of thinking he was Tayo and he remembers me.

He smiled back and sat on his chair. "Have you heard of the presentation today?"

"Yes, Caroline mentioned it." I answered.

"Well, it has been canceled and moved to next week."

"Okay sir. Do you want me to do anything today?"

"Yes, just...these." he took some files from his table and gave me. "Sort it out and take it to the marketing department."

"Okay sir-"

At least he told me where to take it to.

"And... Never mind. You can go now."

I turned around slowly and went out of the office. I got to my table and started working on the files I was given.

*Time skips*

"Are you going out for lunch already sir?" I asked Mr Tayo.

"Yes, do you want to come with me?"

I smiled and shook my head. "No, I was just asking."

"You can come anyways."

"No sir, I'm still doing some work here. I'll go for lunch when I'm through." I refused.

"I insist, besides you can finish those when we're back." He set his eyes on me again.

I looked at him and my eyes met with his, there was this familiar feeling that came to me and it was unsettling.

"Okay. Fine." I said. I got up and took my bag then went out with him.

As we walked together, it felt like we were once close.

*Could it be that he's the same Tayo* I thought to myself.

We got to the restaurant not too far from the office. We took a sit close to the glass window, we sat and took the menu. We took our orders and waited for the food.

"This is my favorite spot in this restaurant." Mr Tayo said grinning.

"Oh really. I also like sitting close to the windows." I responded.

The waitress brought the food and drinks for us and we ate. "Sorry, my mother taught me table manners but I don't actually follow one except when she's around, that's talking when eating." he laughed.

"I guess I'm not the only one then, my aunt scolds us every

time." I laughed.

"What about your mum? Mr Tayo asked.

"She and my father died while I was still a child."

I noticed Mr Tayo's face became blank, then he said, "I'm sorry for your loss."

I smiled and said. "It’s fine, It has been years."

We continued eating and talking too. When we finished, he paid for the food and we went back to work. That was the start of something great.
