Living in the big city of Lagos wouldn't have been easy for Wunmi and her brother if not for the scholarship Wunmi got before getting to the university. Having lost both parents in a car crash leaving Lagos state when she was seven and her brother, Tunde was five. She tried hard to understand and cope with what had happened at such age.
After her final external examination in secondary school, Wunmi entered for a scholarship that takes care of tuition fees and other school expenses in any school in the country. She was able to get the scholarship, the board pays for almost everything involving her education and definitely not the shopping spree she's about to do with Lara, her best friend.
Lara Johnson, Wunmi's best friend from the first year and now to the final year, is a very beautiful, humble and talented girl. She comes from a rich home but stays in and out of the campus like every other middle class student in the university. Lara's family has been Wunmi's second family ever since she met her and she is the same reason why Wunmi is in the Uber car going to the popular Maryland mall.
"Wunmi, hope there's no problem?" Lara asked when she noticed Wunmi was lost in thoughts.
"There's no problem,” Wunmi smiled.
“I'm just really excited for work tomorrow.""Have you told Tunde about it?"
"No, I'll tell him when we're back." Wunmi answered and her friend nodded.
"Okay, what I was telling you before was that Uncle Kayo is at the mall with Lekan, they came to get something because Lekan is going back to school. I told him to wait for us so he'll tell you what to do tomorrow."
Wunmi smiled deeply. "That's good, Thank you so much Lara I'm really grateful."
Lara faced her and held her hand. "It's nothing Wunmi, I’ve asked you to stop thanking me, besides, what are friends for." She dropped Wunmi’s hands and folded her arms. "I'm doing everything for my husband, Tunde."
Wunmi laughed at Lara's last words. "Tunde right? You'll probably be number thirty one on his list of girlfriends."
"He dare not, I'll divorce him immediately." Lara joined Wunmi laughing. They both knew Tunde and his numerous girlfriends.
"Okay oo, as if you’re his main girl.” Wunmi paused. “I don’t think Tunde has a main guy, he reminds me of one of my old friends, Tayo’s brother. The one I told you about, Do you remember?” She asked.
“Yeah, I do remember. But, I’ll say the same thing again, when he finds the right woman for him, he wouldn’t need to look at other girls.”
“I agree.”
The car stopped as we discussed. "Are we there already?" Lara asked furrowing her brows as she looked around.
"No ma, it's the traffic and right now I'm stuck here, I can't turn to pass somewhere else.”The driver replied.
“But this will soon be clear and we're almost there." He added."Lagos Traffic! We have entered again." Lara shook her head.
"It's now a normal thing, you should be used to it." Wunmi said.
Not long after, they got to the parking lot of the mall, paid the driver and came out of the car.
"Call Uncle Kayode to know where he is." Wunmi told Lara.
"Yes, I will right away." She took out her phone and dialed his number.
"Uncle, where are you... We're outside... Okay, we'll wait." She spoke to her uncle with the phone and ended the call when she was done.
"He said we should wait for him here, he doesn't want us to get lost finding him inside this big space." Lara laughed.
Wunmi smiled and looked at the direction of the first mall’s door, she saw Uncle Kayode and Lekan coming out through the door.
"There they are." She pointed at the direction.
"Uncle Kayo!" Lara ran to hug her Uncle who smiled happily at seeing his niece.
Wunmi walked closer and greeted him, then she said hi to Lekan, Uncle Kayode’s son.
"Wunmi, why are you acting like a stranger?
Won't you hug Uncle?" Uncle Kayode questioned after the hug with Lara ended."Ema Binu Simi." (Don't be angry at me) Wunmi said in Yoruba language and hugged him.
"What about me, sweetheart." Lekan said after she pulled away from his father.
Wunmi faced and cocked an eyebrow at him. "What do you want?"
"Hug me too."
"Hug?" She faced Lara and said jokingly to her."See his mouth like hug." They both laughed at him.
"So, you both are laughing at me, right?"
"Well, you asked for it." Uncle Kayode shrugged.
"Yay!" The girls cheered and wriggled their tongues at Lekan.
"Daddy, you see them. It was because you supported them when you should have ordered Wunmi to hug me." He said which made the girls chuckle in amusement.
"You know they are girls, let them be."
Then Uncle Kayode faced the girls. "Well-done you two, let him catch you later. Anyways, concerning the job. Tayo, who is also a friend of Lekan here, is a very stubborn boy just like this young man here.” Uncle Kayode said.“He’s my friend, what do you expect?”
“He doesn't want a secretary but I have to get him one, he's actually over working himself at such young age. So till the time you'll graduate, you'll be his secretary simply because of Tunde's school fees. So, if you’d still like to work for me after you’ve paid his fees, that would be up to you."
"Yes, Thank you so much Uncle." Wunmi smiled.
"Okay, you'll meet Caroline at the office tomorrow, you'll stay with her while she tells you how we do things till I come, I'll take you to Tayo personally." He added.
"Okay sir." Wunmi nodded.
"Anyways, we'll leave now. Doctor Lekan needs to leave tomorrow and we haven't packed yet."
"Okay Uncle, Bye. Thanks a lot sir." Lara said. "Bye Lekan." She added.
"Later dear." Then he looked at Wunmi, "Won't you say bye to me."
Lekan smirked at her.Wunmi face
palmed herself."Okay Bye." She waved her hand at him. Uncle Kayode walked to the car. "Lekan let's go.""Bye Sweetheart, I love you, I'll see you when I come home again." Lekan said and got to the driver seat of the car, he blew a kiss to Wunmi and started the car.
"Let's go." Wunmi said to Lara, ignoring Lekan’s words.
"My cuz really got it hard for you?"
Lara said, her statement sounding like a question.“You know that’s not true."
"What makes you think so?" Lara said as they walked into the mall.
"Lekan jokes a lot and I’m not really interested in playing around with a guy." Wunmi responded.
"But what about Tayo? I won't lie to you, he's one of the hottest guy I've ever met and you might actually get the hot for him." Lara said.
"I don’t think so, I don’t fall for guys like that."
Lekan's POV "Congratulations on the birth of your twins." Tayo said and hugged me. "Thanks so much." I smiled warmly. My smile has been coming a lot these months ever since the wedding day. "Where's the new mother?" He asked. "They're upstairs, everyone is there." It was just like Eniola was the person missing in my life, the person I thought Wunmi was. Everyday, I keep thanking God for bringing Eniola back into my life. After that wedding, we started our relationship low-key and soon everyone knew we were dating. Few months after, we got married as I was the last single man in the trio, except Tunde but he's not one of us. Tunde is the only one who is not around here, he went to the United States for his master degree. It's been two years since we met again at the wedding, and last week Eniola g
Lekan's point of view.To be honest, it isn't really fun seeing the only woman I've ever loved get married to my best friend, that's if Tayo considers me a best friend after what I did.I knew I wasn't in my right mind, I spoked to one of my psychologist friends who told me to stay in the hospital for a while as I was going crazy over her, he told me I might do things I'll regret if I don't take care of myself. But typical me, I didn't listen. I lost my mind, I did so many things I couldn't possibly think of doing now.Wunmi has decided to get married today, three months after Lara's wedding. Everyone is happy, except me. I watched their vehicle leave for their honeymoon and I wish them all the best of luck. They've suffered a lot because of me, I know I've hurt so many people.Anu's mother has forgiven me for killing her daughter but Junio
This chapter is in Wunmi's POV Final Chapter It's been two years now, two years after that dreadful incident, two years after so many misery happened. I walked out of my room where I went to take my clutch purse, already dressed up as a bridesmaid for Lara's wedding. She was finally getting married to Ade, who would ever think Ade would end up with a girl? And worse, get married? "Mummy!" Adesewa called as she ran around the hall with Junior. Junior had come with his grandmother to Lara's wedding. As I opened the door, I saw her struggling with her zipper. "Let me help you." I offered. "Yeah, thank you." After I helped her zip up, she faced me, "Are you excited?" "Excited? I should be the one asking you this, you're the bride." Lara smiled at me, "You know what I'm talking about, He'll be here tod

Yes you're very attractive but I don't want you like all these men do, All I need is my money.""What money?" Wunmi asked."When David married you, may his soul rest in perfect peace, I realised I lost my chance of ever becoming rich. David was the popular actor while I was just his assistant, Yes he had loved me like a brother but I know once he passed away all his money will be mine since he doesn't have any living relative. But when he married you, all hope was lost until I met Lekan, who has been in love with you since you never knew, we met and decided to kill David before he got around to change his will.""Ah!"Wunmi gasped."But after he died and the lawyer came and read the will, I was so annoyed to the extent that I almost killed you.
