Lana's POV

The red flare bathed the world in a nightmare’s light. In its hellish glow the door burst open and Zed’s face had transformed from cool triumph to pure, undiluted terror. He wasn’t afraid of the Night Fang. He was afraid of Ronan.

The growls from the ridge beyond were a living thing, a promise of vengeance that rolled down the mountain like thunder. Marek followed him whispering something in his ears. “A clumsy ambush. Your Alpha lacks subtlety,” Zed said pacing up and down.

Marek kept talking but Zed wasn’t listening to him. He was fumbling with a different phone, a rugged, military-looking satellite phone as his hands were shaking so badly he nearly dropped it. He turned his back, hustling a few steps away toward the windows looking down at the SUVs, his voice a frantic, hushed whisper.

“They’re here! He’s here! The plan… it’s blown!” A pause. His back stiffened. “What do you mean, ‘contain it’? There are two dozen Lancasters on that ridge!”

Another pause, longer. I

  • Wanted By The Alpha And His Brothers   Chapter 55

Lana's POV The words kept echoing iny head. What the hell have I gotten myself into? From one problem to another and now a rival packs alpha wants to breed me. It sounded fucking ridiculous and stupid but not entirely wrong. “No,” I whispered, the denial was pretty evident. “That’s… he can’t.” Kaelia’s good eye, bloodshot and fierce, held mine. “He’s a predator, Lana. He doesn’t see a person. He sees a resource. A weapon to be replicated.” Her gaze flicked to Dorothy, who was curled silently against my side, listening with the terrible understanding of a child who has seen too much. “He will use anything to break you into compliance.” A heavy silence descended, thick with the unsaid. The distant sounds of the compound were a constant reminder of our cage. I traced the gritty lines of the mortar between stones, my mind racing down dark, panicked tunnels. Escape seemed impossible. Rescue, a fairy tale. Ronan would tear the world apart, but would he find us in time? Or would his rag

Lana's POV A small, insistent hand shook my shoulder. “Lana. Lana, wake up.” My eyes flew open to a dim, unfamiliar place. It took a moment to separate the throbbing in my head from the muffled, distant sounds of shouting and the clang of metal. I was on a hard, cold floor. Stone, not wood. The air smelled of damp earth, rust, and a sharp, musky scent that was foreign and threatening. Dorothy’s face hovered above mine, her eyes huge with a fear she was trying desperately to contain. “You’re okay,” she whispered, more to herself than to me. I pushed myself up, my body protesting with a symphony of aches. The last clear memory was the tunnel, the jaws on my arm, the darkness swallowing Ronan’s enraged face. “Where…?” “Quiet.” Kaelia’s voice was a low rasp from across the small, windowless room. She was standing on a rickety wooden crate, peering through a high, barred opening that let in the only light, sickly, greyish glow. “We’re in a compound. Night Fang territory. Deep in it.”

Ronan's POV I finally woke up to pains and a strong headache. The world still looked blurry as the place reeked of blood, fight and the stench of the Night Fang wolves. I still laid on my back and something felt painful on my left side as I turned to see a torn muscle which was already healing after being treated by definitely Finn. My head was still pounding when I tried to get up but I felt Idris press me back down to lay still. "Easy, Alpha. You took a bad hit." Idris face looked so serious. More serious than it usually is as the place looked and felt like a graveyard after that range of violence and bloodbath that happened. My warriors moved among the dead bodies, checking for survivors, their faces grim. The red flare's residue was a ghostly smear on the lightening sky. "Lana," I gritted out, the word tearing at my raw throat. "Dorothy. Kaelia." Idris's hand on my shoulder tightened, the only warning before the blow landed. "Gone. The tunnel… it was a root cellar access, se

  • Wanted By The Alpha And His Brothers   Chapter 51

Lana's POV I was still reeling from what I'd heard from Zed and Jessica or Jessica. I wasn't exactly sure yet. But what I was sure about was something going to happen at midnight, today and I don't know if it is part of Ronan's plans or Jess' I decided I needed to tell someone about it. Ronan wouldn't believe me so Bastien was my next target. I felt my hands shaking as I grabbed onto the phone Gideon gave me. This phone would probably save us all tonight or send us straight into a trap. I fizzled with the phone till I saw Bastien's number. He would listen. He had to. I stumbled back into the lodge through the kitchen door, my breath coming in short, silent pants. I could hear Dorothy laughing upstairs with one of the younger warriors, Marek, I thought his name was. A good guy, always sneaking her extra cookies. Was he in on it? Were they all? I locked myself in the downstairs washroom, the smallest room with the thickest door. My fingers fumbled over the phone, pulling up the

  • Wanted By The Alpha And His Brothers   Chapter 50

Ronan's POV The silence in the war room was the loudest sound I'd ever heard. It was the silence of a clock ticking down to an unseen detonation. Jessica was in the wind, Lana was in an isolated location known only to a handful of my most trusted, and one of those trusted had just sold her location to our enemies. The beast inside me wasn't roaring. It was coiled, silent, and utterly lethal. This was no longer about passion or possession. This was a tactical extermination. "Find her," I said to Bastien, my voice a low rasp that scraped the air raw. "Take the Swiftwind unit. Seal the borders. Check every safehouse, every den, every bolt-hole her father might have established here. I want Jessica Blackthorn found. Alive. I want to know who she called, where she's running, and who she thinks is coming for my mate." Bastien didn't question the order. The revelation of a traitor within our inner circle had forged our fragile ceasefire into something harder. He gave a sharp nod. "She ca
