Anger filled me as I looked at Cassandra. She didn’t even look like she was disturbed about the fact that her own mate rejected her. How could that boy reject her?

“Who is he?” I tried not let my anger show in my voice, but it was hard. Vincenzo was also trying not to let his emotions take the best of him.

“He’s the Alpha son,” Cassandra answered with a small smile and then shrugged. “It’s not like anyone would want to accept a mate that was weak and had no wolf, not to mention an Alpha,” she said with a small laugh.

I knew that laugh, it meant she was mocking herself. My wolf growled my head, it wanted to let her know that she wasn’t weak.

“Do you ever wish to find your real parents?” I heard Vincenzo say. I was focused on stopping my claws from elongating. Being a lycan meant having a greater deal of self-control can other wolves.
