Five years ago, Seraphina Blackwood ran from her marriage and destiny as Luna to the most powerful Lycan King alive, choosing to be free over an arranged marriage. But when she saves a wounded Alpha from a rogue attack, his gratitude came in the form of a prison. Marcus Sullivan marries her out of duty, believing she's nothing more than a poor orphan—never knowing she's the daughter of the most feared Yakuza-werewolf family in the supernatural underworld. For five years, Seraphina mistakes his cold obligation for love, playing the perfect wife while her true mate's bond is left unanswered. But when Marcus's first love returns, a rare Omega who promises him the strong heir he believes Seraphina, as a "human," cannot provide, his betrayal shatters every illusion that Seraphine has portrayed about their relationship. Abandoned, humiliated, and left to face dangerous enemies alone, Seraphina finally calls upon the man she left at the altar five years ago. Kieran Nightshade, the Lycan King whose heart she broke, answers without hesitation. But reclaiming her birthright means exposing secrets that could destroy the supernatural world's balance of power. As Marcus realizes too late what he's lost, and enemies comes from every angle seeking to use Seraphina's true identity against her family's empire, she must choose between remaining anonymous and the dangerous power that comes with being Luna Queen to the most feared Alpha alive. Some regrets can never be undone. And some women are too powerful to be cast aside twice.

SERAPHINA
My wedding gown rustled against the floor as I stood before the altar, my hands shaking a bit despite Keiran holding my hands together with his. The Cathedral of the Moon was the church where I was getting married. Every seat was filled with the most powerful supernatural beings in existence. They included werewolf alphas, vampire lords, fae nobility, and witch covens.
They all gathered to witness the union that would be the talk of the century. A marriage between a Lycan King and a Luna Born.
My father, Vincent Blackwood, sat still in the front pew, his eyes were fixed on me with an intensity that sent shivers down my spine.
Beside him, my mother Isabella was the picture of a dignified lady, although I saw her eyes moving around which meant she was checking for exit and making sure that they aren't taken unawares by rogues who might object to this wedding.
My twin brothers, Lionel and Lucas, were beside them, looking handsome and proper in their suits.
But don't take their appearance as a reason to lay down your guards. They were fully equipped with weapons beneath their suits.
On the opposite side, Kieran's family was sitting and they commanded attention as well. His parents and sisters were in the front pew followed by their extended relatives and then advisors and pack leaders filled the spaces behind them.
"We gather here today," the ancient priest was speaking, his voice carrying the drawl that was associated with someone that has survived a century of existence, "to witness the sacred bonding of two souls destined by the Moon Goddess herself."
He lifted the ceremonial veil, that had the house crest of our two packs on it. "The union of Kieran Nightshade, Lycan King of the Northern Territories, and Seraphina Blackwood, daughter of the House of Shadows, will forge an alliance that will—"
My attention drifted away from listening to what the priest was saying as I could feel the eyes of hundreds of eyes on me, each of them filled with expectations that I wasn't sure I could fulfill. My clothes felt too tight on me and for a moment, it felt like I couldn't breathe.
Kieran's thumb was gently stroking my knuckles, it was a gesture meant to be comforting me, but it only made my skin crawl. It wasn't that he was cruel or unattractive. It was quite the opposite At twenty, he was very handsome, with dark hair and green eyes that seemed to see straight through my soul. He was powerful, respected, and by all accounts, a good man who would make a worthy mate. Hell he was the mate that the Moon Goddess had picked for me, recognizing him as soon as I turned 18.
But he wasn't my choice.
"The groom will now speak his vows," the priest announced, and the cathedral fell silent, waiting to hear his words.
Kieran's hands tightened around mine, as he opened his mouth and spoke
"I, Kieran Nightshade, promise to take you as my mate, to love and protect you and the pups we will have, to never leave your side, and if I must die, I die protecting you."
Around us, the guests nodded their approval, but all I could hear was my erratic heartbeat. My wolf, usually asleep was awake this time around and began to pace restlessly beneath my skin, making me fidget a bit.
"And now," the priest continued, turning to me with a smile on his face, "the bride will speak her vows."
I could feel my father's eyes burning into my back, could sense my mother's tension, could practically hear my brothers thoughts telling me to say the vows and fulfill my duty to my family.
Kieran's green eyes searched my face, his breath seized as he waited for me to speak.
My mouth opened, but no words came. The vows I'd memorized, all seemed to have fled my brain like sugar dissolved in water.
"I..." I began, my voice cracking like I was experiencing puberty for the first time. The priest nodded his head to encourage me to continue, and Kieran's grip on my hands tightened as if he could somehow anchor me to this moment through sheer will.
But my wolf had other ideas. She surged forward, her panic and desperation overwhelming my human rational mind.
"I can't," I whispered, and I heard the entire cathedral draw in a loud gasp.
Kieran's face went pale, his eyes eyes widening with shock and something that might have been hurt.
"Seraphina?"
"I can't do this," I said louder, pulling my hands free from his grasp. The ceremonial veil falling to the ground which seemed like it was mocking me
"I'm sorry, Kieran. I'm so sorry."
The cathedral burst out into chaos as people started murmuring, their voices getting louder with each passing second. I heard my father's sharp intake of breath, saw my mother's mask break as she looked worried about what was going on, I watched as my brothers half-rose from their seats as if they wanted to physically drag me back to the altar.
But I was already moving, as I kept on talking loudly.
"I believe in true love," I said, my voice loud enough to be heard despite the growing chaos around us.
"What we have isn't that. It's a political alliance that is disguised as marriage. It's duty and obligation and everything else except choice."
Kieran stepped toward me, his hand extended as he wanted to touch me.
"Seraphina, we can talk about this. We can—"
"No," I said, shaking my head so violently that my pinned hair began to spill away, the pins falling off
"I won't be a prize to be won or a treaty to be signed. I won't spend my life pretending that the arrangement we have is the same as love."
I allowed my wolf to come forward as I felt my bones breaking and white furs coming out from my body and in a second, my wolf Nyx stood in front of everyone.
"Stop her!" My father yelled pointing at me but it was too late.
I met Kieran's shocked gaze with my wolf's golden eyes. I saw hurt there, and confusion, and then anger as his face hardened. But he didn't stop me.
I looked away from him and ran off leaping through the window as I felt the glass shattering around me as I disappeared into the night, leaving behind the life that I had only known.
But I was free.
Chapter 16KIERAN"Fine," I agreed reluctantly. "We'll take the morning flight."Miranda's smile became more genuine, though I caught a calculating glint in her eyes. "Actually, I have a better idea. Why don't we share a room tonight? Give the media something to talk about tomorrow morning. After your little stunt in Millbrook, we need to cement our relationship in the public eye."Every instinct I possessed rebelled against the suggestion, that she had made and I knew that she knew that I knew what she was doing. Besides the mere thought of spending the night with Miranda, of letting the world believe we were lovers when my heart belonged entirely to another woman, felt like a betrayal of everything I held sacred. I had been holding onto the past all this while and now that Seraphina was finally out of Marcus's grasp, she wanted me to push her away, give Seraphina the message that I was spoken for, which was in her right as my fiancee. But she was right about the politics of it, desp
Chapter 15KIERANThe meeting with the Elder Alphas had dragged on for hours, each of them more concerned with their own territorial disputes than the actual business at hand. By the time I finally escaped the suffocating conference room, my wolf was pacing restlessly beneath my skin, anxious to return to Seraphina's side.I'd left her unconscious in the medical wing of the Blackwood compound three days ago, trusting her family to keep her safe while I dealt with the political fallout from my dramatic rescue in Millbrook. The supernatural world was buzzing with rumors and speculation, and I'd needed to contain the damage before it spiraled completely out of control. The hotel corridor was dimly lit as I made my way toward my suite, exhaustion weighing heavily on my shoulders. All I wanted was a hot shower and a few hours of sleep before catching the earliest flight back to the city. Back to her."Kieran."I stopped dead in my tracks, recognizing the voice immediately. Miranda Ashworth
Chapter 14SERAPHINAIt wasn't a question. I could see the answer in the careful way my family was watching me, in the pity that passed through Lucas's face before he could hide it."It's not finalized," Lionel said quickly, as if trying to soften the blow as he stepped forward a bit, his hands out as he continued speaking."It's just an arrangement, this is a political alliance that would benefit both territories and show everyone just how powerful they are.""Who?" I asked, sounding small and fragile despite the font that I was trying to keep up, in their presence."Miranda Ashworth," my father said, and I felt the world tilt sideways, hearing that name as I felt anger bubbling inside me.Miranda fucking Ashworth. That was the daughter of our family's oldest rivals, she was also the woman who'd spent our teenage years trying to prove she was better than me at everything that we were trained in—combat training, academics, manipulation, seduction. I hate to say it but she was beautif
Chapter 13SERAPHINA The first thing I noticed when I finally woke up from my sleep was the scent. It wasn't the artificial vanilla scent of Marcus's house or the disgusting Elena's perfume, but this was different and more familiar.Taking a deep breath, I recognized it. It was sandalwood and old books, leather and the faint trace of my mother's signature jasmine perfume. This scent resembled home. I was home.My eyelids felt heavy, as it was weighed down by exhaustion and also the lingering effects of whatever they'd injected into my system. Silver. I remembered the burning sensation as it moved through my veins, and I remembered Elena's vicious satisfaction as she'd watched me writhe in agony. The memory made me want to curl into myself and hide. But as awareness returned fully, I realized I wasn't alone."She's waking up," a familiar voice said softly, and I turned my head to see Lucas sitting in a chair beside what appeared to be a hospital bed. His face was filled with fury but
Chapter 12KIERANSeraphina lay unconscious on the bed, her clothes half-removed, her skin too pale. A man I recognized as Marcus Sullivan was positioned over her, his canines extended, clearly preparing to mark her against her will. A blonde woman sat in a chair beside the bed, watching with obvious anticipation.I saw red.The sound that came out of my throat wasn't human. It was the roar of a king whose mate was under threat, the howl of a wolf whose territory had been violated. Marcus looked up just in time to see me coming, his eyes widening with terror as he finally understood exactly who he'd been threatening.I hit him with the force of a freight train, sending him flying across the room to crash into the far wall. Plaster cracked and rained down as he slumped to the floor, but I wasn't done. Not even close."You dare," I snarled, hauling him up by his throat. "You dare touch what's mine?"He tried to speak, tried to explain or plead or something, but I squeezed harder. His fa
Chapter 11KIERANI stormed out of my room, my wolf was literally clawing at the edge of my consciousness with the kind of desperation I hadn't felt since the night Seraphina ran. Something was wrong and I knew it. Every instinct I possessed was screaming danger, and the mate bond, that I shared with Seraphina, who had been actively blocking it for years and it has gone dormant for five years was suddenly alive with distress signals I couldn't ignore. The hotel corridor seemed like a blur to me as I made my way towards Lucas's room that were three doors down. I had come to Millbrook with Seraphina's older brother as a favor to him, though the favor had been disguised as one to me. Lucas had been convinced that seeing his sister happy with another man would finally allow me to move on, to accept a different mate and secure the succession of my kingdom. He'd been wrong about a lot of things.I didn't bother knocking at all. The door gave way under my fist, breaking from its hinges as
