Cassie's POV

The ray of light that came in through the gray curtains in my room suddenly had me up earlier than usual.

I rubbed my swollen eyes from crying my eyes out the night before.

I looked around the room, to find I had left the door to my chamber open.

I walked lazily to the door, to have it closed.

And then the minute I was at the door, I got his scent for the second time.

I couldn’t hold myself as I had my eyes closed sniffing it all into my head.

I shook myself out of it, the minute I had thoughts of what had happened the night before.

I had been so happy getting the scent of my mate right in the pack house.

And surprisingly up in the mansion.

Feeling so excited, I followed up the scent and traced it onto Alder's room.

I had been confused at first but felt excited knowing I had been given a mate by the moon goddess.

And it turned out to be the obnoxious, arrogant, callous yet astoundingly handsome Alpha of our pack.

The Sky Prowlers Pack.

Alder Lewiston…

Well, good thing he had only asked that I leave anyway and not the other way around where he would have me rejected completely.

I laid down on my back, with my eyes to the ceiling as I thought so hard about Alder and how he had reacted about a while ago.

It suddenly felt as though all of this was my fault.

I guess I had been too anxious laying out the news to him.

But still, it all didn't sit right in my head.

I assumed he had been more surprised and confused than I was.

Getting mated to a weak wolf.

I hated mostly Bu v Chi Chu the way he always tried controlling me at every chance he got, and has never for once shown any sign of care towards me.

I looked down at my clothes from yesterday, scolding myself for having to react so quickly.

But then again, I wanted to be sure and I had it confirmed the moment he voiced out about him knowing.

I was to have breakfast down at the pack house with the others.

“10:00 am” I read out loud glancing at the clock in my room.

I walked up to my closet in search of what to have on, in meeting the others.

I wondered how it was, I was always different from the others and yet, could get the scent of my Alder like every other werewolf would.

It wasn’t exactly what I had expected it to turn out to be but was far better than having him lay his hands on me for not wanting to leave.

I opened up my closet in search of what to wear, right before heading to the bathroom.

I had my favorite plain tee laid out on the bed alongside low-waist trousers and my boots.

I had plans of going over to the Pack ranch right after breakfast, just in case you are wondering about the use of the boots.

And you know how messy it could get in there.

I got out of the bathroom, a few minutes after I had freshened up.

And then, I got dressed. I had my hair rolled up into a bun.

I walked out of my bedroom, headed downstairs, and off to the pack house I went.

I had arrived a little too late as everyone had themselves served as they dug into their meal.

They had all been giggling and murmuring amongst themselves right before I entered.

And the minute I walked in, they all kept mute.

I paused, realizing they were all staring at me.

I looked down at my clothes, wondering if I had the wrong choice of clothes.

And after about seconds of them staring, they suddenly went back to their various meals.

I exhaled the minute they had their eyes off me.

Phew!!! I muttered to myself.

As I walked up to the kitchen counter to have my food tray served, I got his scent again.

He’s here…

I opened up my eyes, looking around the room in search of him.

As I looked closely, I could only see his usual gang men around at their favorite table.

But I couldn’t find him.

“Did he skip breakfast?” I asked myself, feeling bothered.

After being served, I had my food tray taken away to the spot I always enjoyed sitting when having breakfast.

A spot where I get to see the look on every one of their faces.

I hated that they had me mistaken for a human, as neither one of them could believe I had little wolf potential.

And even better, I had gotten the scent of my mate.

I guess that would be so hard to believe, as the one person I was claiming to be mates with obviously didn’t want me as a mate either.

And the thought of all of that made me so devastated.

As I hated that I was going to have to live with the fact that I had a mate who never wanted me for the rest of my life.

I suddenly felt a sharp pain cut through my chest as I had thoughts about the rejection.

Stop it!!! I yelled to myself.

I started with my meal as I munched on my breakfast.

And then as I ate, I could feel him even closer than ever.

I turned, following off the scent, wondering where he had been.

As I turned to face the opposite direction to where I was sitting, our eyes met.

I watched how he stared at me without taking his eyes off.

I had my focus back on my meal, wondering why he was staring at me the way he did.

Is he finally accepting?… I asked myself.

I looked up from my meal in his direction and realized he had gotten up to leave.

Oh, crap!!!…
