JACK’S POV

I sat on the bench at the practice area outside beside the pack house as I watched Alder. He was busy talking to a stupid bimbo known as Lucy. I actually have nothing against the girl. But knowing that Alder rejected my little sister and didn’t care that she was missing made me want to burn every single girl speaks to.

“He’s such a coward,” I mumbled. “And a bastard,” my wolf added and I scoffed. I wish there was a stronger word I could use to describe him. The fact that we even breathe the same air irritates me, even though I know it’s childish of me. I didn’t even want to talk to my parents again.

I looked up to see Josiah walking towards me. He just came back with the search squad from looking for Cassie. He shook his head at me and sadness engulfed my heart again.

“We couldn’t even get her scent again. Wherever she went, she went very far away,” he said to me. My mind and heart became troubled over this. “We need to find her, Joe. She’s still young and incapable of defending herself,” I said to him. He gave me a sympathetic smile.

Even though I hated to admit it, but Cassie couldn’t survive out there on her own if she turned rouge. A rouge would have to shift into wolf form if it needed to hunt and eat. She couldn’t do that.

“My Cassie, why?” I mumbled tiredly. A hand was placed on my shoulder, reminding me that Josiah was still here. “She’ll come back, bro. You look like you haven’t gotten a wink of sleep,” he said to me and I nodded. I was up all night, making flyers for finding her.

They couldn’t even find her scent?!

What if she’s dead?

That thought came to my mind and my heart skipped two beats instead. “God, don’t let that happen,” I thought to myself.

I turned to Josiah, “Thank you for the help.” He nodded, “I need to inform the Alpha that we’re back.” With that, he left and I then stood up.

Alder was no longer talking to Lucy. He was on the phone now, while she was nowhere to be seen. Then, he turned and we suddenly made eye contact.

As a member and a normal wolf, you were meant to bow and submit yourself to any of the alpha bloodline. Making eye contact was also not acceptable.

But right now, I couldn’t care less what the consequences were. I glared at him and his eyes narrowed before they widened slightly.

“Pain in the ass,” I mumbled and walked away. He was still going to regret what he did to Cassandra. The moon goddess is meant to punish him deeply.

And I pray Cassie finds a second chance mate that will treat her right. I pray he treats her with respect, love and adoration; just like what she deserves.

She deserves a better mate.

DR. SMITH’S POV

I knew it!

“Gerald, the result is positive!” I said to my husband happily as I re-read the result paper in my hands. “Don’t raise my hopes up, Nana. Give it to me.”

I laughed as Gerald collected the paper from me and read it. His eyes widened and he looked up to meet mine. He then cleared his throat and looked at the paper again.

“I forgot my reading glasses in my study. I’ll be right back,” he handed me the paper and walked out of the office. I let out a laughter of joy.

Finally!

We’ve found her. The Alpha and Luna will be so thrilled about this.

Gerald walked back in with his glasses on and I handed him the paper again with an amused smiled. “Holy cow!” he exclaimed after reading it and his jaw dropped.

“Now, we can go to bed with pure happiness,” I said to him and he laughed. “How will we tell them?”, he asked me as I tided up the laboratory. We then walked out of the place and went upstairs to our bedroom.

“Tomorrow, we’ll take her to the pack house and introduce her to the Alpha and Luna. Hopefully, fate will take the lead from there and all will work out well of us,” I told him. He nodded as we climbed into bed.

“I wonder why it had to take three days for the test result to come out?”, he said as we got settled. I rolled my eyes at him. “I didn’t want to do it at the hospital because anyone can access into the files. Home was the safest option even though it was slower,” I answered. He nodded, “I have no idea why I’m excited for tomorrow.” I laughed at him.

CASSIE’S POV

My eyes ached as I woke up and slowly opened my eyes. I cried myself to sleep last night, again. It wasn’t my fault that my heart was so fragile and I was an emotional wreck.

Sighing weakly, I sat up straight and ran my hand through my long brown locks, pulling it free from its messy ponytail. I wish I could do a perfect ponytail or sleek bun like Mrs. Smith but all my attempts were futile.

I got up from the bed and went to brush my teeth before walking out of the room. I’ve been staying here for about a week or more now. I loved how Gerald and Mrs. Smith made me feel comfortable. I

Today being Saturday made it the best time for me to show my appreciation. I’ve only been making dinners but I observed that they liked having very light meals for breakfast.

So, I decided to make French toast for them. I was almost done with what I was doing when Mrs. Smith walked in. her eyes widened and a smile made its way to her face.

“Good morning, my dear. I’m impressed,” she said when she saw what I had set on the table. I blushed a little, “I wanted to do something nice in appreciation for everything you’ve done for me.”

She smiled at me, “There’s no need for that honey. You remind me of my own daughter.” I smiled.

“You can go and get ready. Gerald and I are taking you to the pack house. You need to see the Alpha and Luna so you can be initiated into the pack,” she told me.

I nodded at her and finished what I was doing before cleaning up and returning back to my room.

I didn’t know why but I was scared and yet excited to meet the Alpha and Luna of the pack. I hope they initiate me into the pack so I can keep on living with Gerald and Mrs. Smith.

After taking my bath, I decided to brush my hair, leaving it down in its wavy state. It had grown long that it was now above at my waist side. I loved my hair so much. Jack always told me that I had the most beautiful hair he had ever seen.

A sad smile formed on my lips.

I missed him.

I got dressed in a deep blue sundress I found in the closet. It was off the shoulder with a little bow at the neckline. I paired it with a pair of black flats that Gerald got for me like three days ago.

When I was satisfied with my appearance, I made my way out of the room and closed the door.

I met the older people seated at the dining table.

“Your French toast is delicious, Cassie!” Gerald commented cheerily as I sat opposite them. My cheeks heated at the sudden praise. I really got compliments from people.

“Thank you, sir,” I said with a smile as I began to eat my own breakfast. When we were done, I did the dishes and followed them out of the house to their Ford that was parked outside.

“What of Loki?” I asked Mrs. Smith. I’ve already dished out her food, she knows where to find it when she’s hungry. I nodded and we got into the car.

The ride to the pack house was silent but the silence was comfortable.

Crimson Moon Pack had a lot of green land. It was also very wide and large, larger than my former pack. I could see other houses, there was even a basketball court that stood on its own.

I was so absorbed in every infrastructure that I didn’t even notice when we got to the pack house. “We’re here, Cassie,” Gerald announced, snapping me out of my trance.

We got out of the car and I marveled at the beauty of the pack house. It was sure four story buildings and it covered a large area. The exterior looked like it was made of clay bricks, making it have an ancient aura and it made it more attractive.

“I just mind linked the Luna. They’re in the office,” Mrs. Smith said as they walked into the building. The inside was as beautiful as the outside.

“You’ll explore the pack house later, let’s get you initiated first,” Gerald chuckled and I blushed.

There were a few pack members in the living room when we walked in. their eyes widened when they saw us and it made me feel very uncomfortable.

They looked to be around my age or older, that’s if I’m correct.

“Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Smith!” they greeted and the older people responded.

I quickly followed after them, not wanting to be victim of their stares.

Why were they staring at me that much?

After climbing two flights of stairs, we got to the third floor.

“This floor belongs to the Alpha’s family. The top most floor is for training,” Mrs. Smith informed me and I nodded at her.

We approached a large polished mahogany door that I assumed to be the Alpha’s office and I made a tiny prayer in my head when Gerald knocked on the door.

After a few seconds, he opened the door and my heart nearly forgot how to work when he motioned us to follow him.

“Good morning, Alpha, Luna,” Gerald greeted them. I stood behind Gerald and Mrs. Smith as they exchanged greetings with the Alpha.

I could see that the Alpha was a tall man, maybe 6’3. He had graying black hair with bright blue eyes and he was handsome to say the least.

Something at the back of my mind started yipping and I frowned.

“Who do you have with you?” I heard the tender voice of a woman, I assume she’s the Luna.

But why did that voice have an effect on me like that?

“We found her half dead by a river and too her in. We then decided to bring her to you so she would be initiated into the pack,” Mrs. Smith said.

“Well, let’s see her,” the Luna sounded excited and it made my heart race. Gerald turned around and held my hand, slowly pulling me forward.

I looked up and then a gasp was heard.

“G-good morning,” I stuttered and then my eyes widened when I saw the Luna.

She slowly stood up and tears welled up in her eyes as she went to her husband’s side.

“It can’t be,” she said and turned to Mrs. Smith. “This is a prank, isn’t it? Where are the cameras?”

Mrs. Smith and Gerald frowned. “We do not understand,” Gerald said. I too was confused to understand what was even happening at the moment. Even the Alpha looked lost.

Why did the Luna look so much like me? We had the same hair color, the shade and highlight was the exact same thing. Even the wave was the same.

We even had the same honey brown eyes. What’s going on?
