FAZER LOGINAlexie’s POV
My eyes snapped wide and my hands started trembling, and I didn’t know when the phone slipped off my fingers. Grover knows about Freya? “It appears Mr. Grover has been digging deep into your life in the Silvermoon pack, Ms. Brown, he also knew who you were before you went to the Lunskye pack for the meeting.” I was shocked beyond words when my assistant reported it to me the next day after I was back at the Silvermoon pack. For years, I have tried my best to keep my daughter out of sight yet someone was smart enough to get that information. If he could go that far just because he was seeking my collaboration, what else could he not do? I should have made a thorough investigation of that man before even agreeing to go to a meeting with him. And now that he has found out about my daughter, what could I do to stop him from informing Rafe? Before he ended the call yesterday, he made it clear that he was going to inform Rafe about the child if I made a mistake by sending him the contract termination email. And because of that, I have been holding on for hours. That threat has put me in a tight spot especially when it has to do with my daughter. “Ms. Brown, I don’t think you should keep quiet about this. Mr. Grover has crossed the line and he needs to be taught a lesson.” My assistant’s suggestion was good. However, I have no idea what kind of punishment to impose on him. Sending that email equals the risk of exposing my secret. And collaborating with him for his threat would ruin the reputation of my company. “I will think about it.” I waved her off and dived into the realm of thoughts on how to deal with Grover. Well, Grover thinks he has found my weakness, now I will find his. With a satisfying idea running in my mind, I picked up my phone and dialed his number. “Have you reconsidered it, Alexie?” His voice came as soon as he answered the call. “Congratulations, Mr. Grover, you succeeded in getting my attention.” I got up from the chair and walked towards the floor-to-ceiling window. “Perhaps you should tell me how you managed to get that information.” He chuckled huskily. “Well, perhaps I don’t have time to explain that. What you should do now is stick to our agreement, otherwise, I will be forced to let the cat out of the bag.” He was so confident in his words that I believed he would do something if I didn’t do as he said. Anyways, I didn’t let my guard down, I called in my assistant and gave her the one task that I had never given before. “I need you to find out everything connected to Grover. From his family, business, and his enemies. I want everything.” She bobbed her head and hurried away. To Grover, I was a fool who would do anything to keep her secret hidden. But there is something he didn’t know. I didn’t just climb up to this position for nothing or to be walked over, I built this name for something. And if anyone tries to walk over me, they will have themselves to blame. While my assistant was busy with the task I had assigned her, I decided to step out for a bit—to take a walk around the company and see how things have been going. When I stepped inside the HR department, my eyes darted to the pile of files neatly stacked on the manager’s desk. “These belong to all the candidates chosen to come for an interview, Ms. Brown, there are lots of unemployed graduates out there.” The manager explained when he saw that my attention was focused on the files. But actually, I wasn’t so focused because of the number of files, but because one of them drew my attention. I picked up the file on top of the pile on the right side, my eyes fixed on the name. Amanda Charlie. The same Amanda I had encountered in the Lunskye pack. And no, the name wasn’t coincidental, her passport was pinned at the top of the file. “When was this submitted?” I asked, holding tightly to the file. “Yesterday, Ms. Brown.” “And when are they coming for an interview?” “Tomorrow.” I nodded my head and placed the file on the desk. But something came to my mind and I picked it up again. “Send Amanda Charlie to my office tomorrow, I want to interview her first.” I left clutching the file in my hand. Amanda cannot work in my company. I have literally grown up with her and one thing about her is: she is a greedy fellow. I could just forgive her for her mistakes and move on, but employing her in my company will be my greatest mistake ever. And why wouldn’t she find a job in the Lunskye Pack? Why the Silvermoon pack? And why must it be my company? “Ms. Brown?” My assistant stepped inside the office and hurried towards the desk. “You will want to see this.” She passed me an iPad, shaking her head like she had seen something unbelievable. The moment my eyes dropped on the information displayed on the screen, a gasp escaped my lips. So I am not the only one harboring a secret after all. Grover is indeed a hypocrite and a shameless fellow. No wonder he is so determined to force me into collaboration with Rafe’s company. Well, Grover has no idea who he is about to deal with. I must show him that I am not someone to deal with easily, and when I am done with him, he will be afraid to make eye contact with me again.Alexie’s POV My eyes snapped wide and my hands started trembling, and I didn’t know when the phone slipped off my fingers. Alexie’s POV Bestie? What an insane lunatic. If I were Skipper, I wouldn’t have allowed myself to cross paths with the person I wronged. And she wasn’t even ashamed to seek my help again. Her audacity pissed me off so much that, for a moment, I was tempted to remind her exactly why she had lost the right to call me her best friend. How dare she! No. How dare they! Also, she must be out of her mind to think that I wasn’t over Rafe by saying she would release him for me if I helped her. Maybe if Mr. Grover hadn’t hinted to me that Rafe was desperately trying to get into business with me, I wouldn’t have figured out what they were doing there. “Alexie?” I couldn’t ignore the voice I just heard because the familiarity of that tone was so strong. I paused on the stairs, turned to my left and I wasn’t mistaken, the voice belonged to someone I had known for years before leaving the pack. “Oh my goodness! It’s you!” She tried to come closer, but the bodyguards with me blocked
Rafe’s POV Alexie’s presence awakened something deep from my soul—the feeling that died following her disappearance from the pack. I didn’t know why that was happening, and I couldn’t control it either. But the anger I had stepped out of the car with had just vanished into thin air and I stood in front of her, with only three steps between us. “Look who we have here.” Her voice jolted me back to my senses, and as I opened my eyes, Alexie looked at me with disgust. “Are you already here to crawl at my feet? Isn’t it too early, ex-mate?” Her mockery sent waves of anger circulating in my bloodstream, making the feelings I had felt earlier disappear in an instant. “You must have been continuously replaying that impossible scenario in your mind that is why you think it is possible.” Crawling at her feet for what reason? For a second chance as she had mentioned? To hell with that. “Your delulu has made you fantasize about the impossible, lady, so get your head straight and a
Rafe’s POVSkipper sat across the dressing table, slowly applying makeup while I buckled my shoelaces. She has been constantly sick these days so we were going to see a professional doctor who just transferred to the Lunskye pack to examine her.Seven years have passed, and nothing about her health has improved. I can even say things only got worse because she keeps having miscarriages and I am afraid that Skipper won't be able to produce an heir if this keeps on.Her first pregnancy was aborted by the doctor because he said keeping it would cost Skipper her life. After all, Alexie refused to help her seven years ago. However, that was in the past but even with that, my heart always burns with rage whenever I remember that moment and how much pain Skipper had to endure. She turned around slowly, her face plastered in makeup. A few months ago, that makeup would have made her look prettier but this time, she looked like a mannequin.“How do I look?”She asked, trying to pose so that I
Alexie’s POV“The trip is tomorrow, Ma’am, do you want to take the private jet or the public plane?”My assistant asked, scrolling the schedule tablet in her hand. I looked up from my phone, a subtle smile plastered across my face. Finally, the day had arrived that I would be going to that pack after years.Seven years came so fast, but not fast enough to erase the hardship I went through after relocating to the Silvermoon pack. They said when you are new to a place, you would be treated like a very important figure, but my case was different. Coupled with the fact that I am an Omega from another pack, life only got worse. No one wanted to employ a stranger to work for them, nobody trusted me with anything, landlords kicked me out of their houses when I couldn't meet my monthly rent, and worst, I almost dropped out of school when I ran out of my savings.Nevertheless, I didn't give up, I fought so hard, showed them I was worthy to do any job, and after a few months of working as an i
Rafe’s POVEver since Alexie stepped foot out of the grand hall, no one has heard from her. I had thought she would return to the mansion to at least pack her belongings, but she didn't.I was even ready to punish her for humiliating me in public whenever I set eyes on her, but she chose to stay far away from me and the mansion.Well, that wasn't the case. What bothers me the most is the fact that Skipper has been so sick and only Alexie’s blood matches hers.I have sent the bodyguards to turn the pack upside down yet none of them could find her. Skipper has been in the hospital for hours now, battling for her life, and even in critical condition, she wants to see Alexie—to apologize to her.“What about the penthouse?”I asked one of the bodyguards who went out in search of Alexie. “There is no way she wouldn't be there. Bring her over here as fast as possible!”After ending the call, I returned to the VIP ward Skipper was admitted to, my heart palpating in rage. But before entering
