"Then I'll get going Mr Williams," she had to see her father and hear what kind of agreement that only needed her to agree to for their company to be back on their feet.

"Alright, I'll just walk you out then," Seth stood from his seat as Gaby started walking out of his office. Apart from wanting to know whatever from her father, she was also running away from Seth, being in the same space as him was clearly not a good thing for her.

Seth pressed the elevator button for Gaby after they arrived at the elevator doors before turning to her saying, "I'll be expecting your reply Miss Jones, and like I said don't blame your for the decision he had to make. Whatever he does, he does it for his family. You should be thankful that you still have a family that can still protect you. Think positive about whatever your dad did."

"Have a good day Mr Williams,* Gaby said as she stepped into the elevator. She could see Seth Williams send her off with his eyes until the doors finally closed. Gaby finally heaved a sigh of relief immediately the doors were closed.

Seth Williams was a dangerous species to the female generation. It was quite strange how there were no news of him with ladies. He had never been in any scandal with the opposite gender which was very strange because of how rich and popular he was, appearing in business news here and there. Does he always keep his love life a secret and that's why no news about her with the ladies had never been found? But he was clearly dangerous and she had just had a real experience just a few moments ago.

Wait, why did she feel like Seth Williams actually paid too much attention to her or was it her imagination? Damn, she must have been too bothered by their discussion that she must have heard or been seeing things. He could have whatever kind of woman she wanted but why would he want her? Focus, focus.

Gaby put Seth at the back of her mind as she thought of whatever her dad is going to say to her as she gripped the document in her hand.

As the elevator doors opened, she found the previous lady waiting for her with her hands held together at the front with a polite smile on her face. Did she know that she was already coming back down or did someone tell her that she was on her way back.

"Miss Jones, I'll show you out," she was still as professional as she was when Gaby arrived. Knowing that she was only doing her job, Gaby didn't bother her, she only nodded her head and followed her out. When she was already out of the premises, the lady waved her goodbye as she watched Gaby walk towards the car that was already parked at the front. The receptionist only turned back inside after Gaby got inside the car and the driver drove away.

"Miss, where to?" The driver didn't ask anything regarding her meeting which made Gaby feel a little better. The only person she wished to give answers at the moment was her father or maybe her brother. He might have the answers to the questions that she had. What she didn't know that her brother would be the most surprised by the proposal that was put across.

"Take me back home, thank you." She then closed her eyes to rest for the rest of the journey back home. She needed the rest the most because she was not aware of what was waiting for her immediately when she gets back home. And the words that Seth said while she was leaving. They were really bothering her, and she figured she needed to calm her nerves.

Seth on the other went back to his office and called Mr Jones immediately, "Mr Jones, the decision still lies with your daughter. She's on her way back and I hope this time you can be open with her." He was looking forward to their next meeting . Today's meeting was like a blind date to him but Gaby was not aware of that. He already had the perfect places for a date which he was 95 percent sure that she'll come back once she has calmed down.

"I understand Mr Williams and thank you," and the call ended. Mr Jones thought that maybe Seth Williams would say everything to Gabriella but he didn't. But he was glad that he didn't, hell have the privilege to say everything by himself he was only worried how his son, who had suddenly arrived back home would react and Gabriella herself. Would they think that their father is selling his children's happiness for the glory of the company interests.

"We should talk when your sister arrives," Mr Jones said to Sam after ending the call with Seth Williams. He had to face his kids so it was actually better that his son had arrived earlier.

Sam had tried to get help from his friends but they could only offer just a little help which could only push them for a while but not help them back on their feet really. He had majored in business as a first degree in campus and thus he was not strange to happenings in his father's company. But still he was not able to help much. That was why he had come back to tell his father about his progress which was not successful.

"Why? Something the matter?" Sam raised his eyes off the document he was reading to look at his father. He seemed really out of it like something was really bothering him. It was not everyday that their father would really call a family meeting.

Even when their company was on the verge of bankruptcy, he never called them even once to ask them for help. Sam had helped out of his own volition because he knew how bad the company's state was. This matter must have been very pressing for him to call them.

"Let's talk together when she's here," Mr Jones had resigned himself to his fate.

"No need dad, I'm already here," at that moment Gabriella's voice was heard as she strode towards the sitting room and placed the document on the table not so gently making the both of them surprised because they had never seen Gabriella so mad.

"You mind explaining what is happening dad? You made me look like a fool, going to that meeting without all the details. And why is your company's decision left on my shoulders? You know I want nothing to do with the company, but why am I being put in between and from the looks of it, if everything doesn't come back to normal, I'll be the one to be blamed?"

The door clicked shut behind her.For a moment, Seth didn’t move. Then he let out a slow breath, dragging a hand through his hair as if grounding himself. Five minutes—he’d asked for it, planned for it, thought it would be enough to make an impression. It wasn’t.But it was something. And with her… something mattered.—Gabriella didn’t stop walking until she reached the elevator.Only then did she press the button and let her shoulders drop—just slightly. What was that? She stared at her reflection in the polished metal doors. Composed. Untouched. Exactly how she always looked. So why did her pulse feel off? She knew that staying around Seth for long might let him catch on, she was sure Seth was aware of the effect he had on her, but he never talked about it, not even once. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable and that made her feel good that he cared about her feelings.“You’d let me walk away…”The words echoed faintly in her mind.No deals. No conditions. She knew that he

Seth set the glass down on the small table in front of her.“Warm honey water,” he said simply.Gabriella’s eyes flickered to it, then back to him. “You’re very confident.”“I’m observant,” he corrected, taking the seat opposite her—not too close, not too far. Careful. She didn’t reach for the glass immediately. “Or calculated.” He didn't even bother asking her what she wanted to drink, and last time, she only said warm water but it came with honey in it. He had been hinting at her since their first meeting.“Would it be worse if I said both?”Her lips twitched, but she masked it quickly. “It would be honest.”“Then I’ll stick with that.”A beat passed.Gabriella finally picked up the glass, her fingers brushing against the warmth. She took a small sip, more to buy herself a moment than out of thirst.“You do realize,” she said, setting it back down, “this doesn’t earn you extra time.”“I know,” Seth replied. “This is me not wasting the five minutes you already gave me.”She leaned ba

Gabriella tilted her head slightly, studying him as if she were weighing all the options she had, but then realised she didn't have much, she had already agreed and also as a businesswoman, she knew not to back down on a deal.“Don’t get too comfortable,” she added, her tone cool but not unkind. “Being ahead of schedule doesn’t mean you’ve passed anything yet.”Seth let out a soft chuckle, slipping his hands into his pockets. “So there’s a test.”“There’s always a test,” she replied. “You just don’t get to see the questions in advance.”“That’s a little unfair, don’t you think?”Gabriella shrugged. “You didn’t exactly start this fairly either.” She was never given the chance to make a choice, with her family in dire saving and only him who could save them. The words landed, not harsh—but precise. A reminder. A boundary. For a moment, Seth didn’t respond. He watched her instead, something quieter settling behind his usual confidence.“Alright,” he said finally, nodding once. “Then I’ll

"Thank you Miss Jones. Mr Williams is expecting you," the lady said to Gabriella and she knew that Seth would be waiting for her at the elevator doors. The elevator doors slid open with a soft chime.Gabriella stepped out first, holding the contract folder a little tighter than necessary. The familiar reception floor felt different this time—quieter, like the air itself was waiting. Before she could take more than two steps forward, the hallway ahead seemed to already know she was coming.Seth was there.Leaning casually near the elevator doors leading into the executive corridor, as though he had been standing there long enough to make waiting look effortless. When he saw her, his expression shifted—still calm and smiling too.“Gabriella,” he said, like he had been holding the name in mind all day.She stopped a few feet away, studying him for a moment. “You didn’t have to wait here.”“I know.” A faint smile. “But I wanted to.”A pause stretched between them. She lifted the folder sl

She almost slapped herself for forgetting such a serious issue. That grace period of one week from Seth Williams had given her so much freedom that she even forgot about it. When she checked the date, she was glad she wasn't out of time because that was the last day that Seth Williams wax expecting a response from her and also when their company's destiny would be decided."Miss Jones, you are a tricky one," that was the first word that came from Seth Williams' mouth when Gabriella Jones finally called him on the last day he had given her to think about her decision regarding her father's company. "Mr Williams, I'm in time just like you had indicated during our meeting," Gabriella was not going to go along with Seth's direction. Like her brother Sam said, she was not an easy target."I see," Seth Williams chuckled hearing Gabriella's reply. His voice was so deep on the phone that it made Gabriella's stomach full of tingly sensations. She tried as much as possible not to speak so that

Now, his children wanted to protect him even at the cost of their own happiness. He wondered what he had done in his past life to deserve such children. They had grown so much even without the presence of their mother in their life and had become independent. When his children left to go back to their places, Mr Jones felt like a huge load had been lifted off his shoulders, but at least his children didn't hate him for what he did, rather they were understanding and willing to help in his company situation. Their effort as a family was going to save them. He really was thankful to his kids for being so understanding even though he didn't say it, they knew their dad was really appreciative.Inside the car, Sam Jones decided to talk to his sister again just to make sure that she was doing the right thing and not just being pressured into doing it. The moment his sister wanted to ride in his car
