If she heard it from him and not her father, things might become really bad to him. He didn't want to bring the situation from bad to worse. He had already done enough damage.

"Mr Williams, you know I'm not really into my father's business but I know your company have yet to get into real estates. There is no company that performs well in real estates than my father's. If you bring him back to his feet, I'm sure that you would not regret your decision," she couldn't say more but the little she said was really facts.

Seth had to agree that she was right. There was no any other real estates companies that could compare to the Jones'. They had been in the industry for long and had the best deals. That was also the reason why she had agreed to help the Jones' in addition to getting their daughter too.

"Miss Jones, you haven't said much but I'm pretty convinced. Indeed your father's company is the best and I really want to invest in the real estate. Since your company is already leading in that field, I won't major in it, I'll only invest for the profits. After all, business is all about profits," Seth said as he got up from the sofa and went towards his office table where he picked a document, which Gabriella assumed is the agreement they are supposed to sign.

She only sipped her honeyed water which had become cold already one last time before setting the glass back on the coffee table. She hoped she could get done with this meeting and go about her business. She really had a lot of work to do.

Seth had really thought about venturing into real estates before Gaby caught his eyes. But since then, he changed his mind because he wouldn't want to compete with his in-laws. He had always been the best at everything he does and that meant that he'd have to compete with the Jones in order to be at the top. The Jones' were the best in this field since that was their main interest.

If the Jones' said they were number 2, no one would claim number and he didn't want it to reach that point. He could just invest in projects and collaborate in some of the projects and just get the profits.

Seth came back and sat down with the agreement still in his hand, "I'm assuming your dad didn't tell you everything about our agreement?"

"Why? Was there more to the agreement?" Was there something she was missing about the meeting? Her dad had only told her that she needed to just sign the agreement and everything will be fine. Was their more to it? Her father didn't tell her much apart from that, was the reason why he had been acting all strange before she left?

"I see, he hasn't. Mr Jones must have his reasons for not telling you all the details. I mean if I were in his position, I'd do the same. But I hope you understand where he comes from," Seth said this as he looked at Gaby with sincerity and some emotions in his eyes that Gaby couldn't understand.

'Why is everyone so strange today, it started with dad and now this guy, what is not happening?' Gaby started having a bad feeling about what Seth Williams would say next.

"This agreement, I have signed it but you won't sign it yet,"

"Why not? That's the reason I came here but you're telling me that I can't sign it yet?" Gaby was now very confused about everything that's happening.

"You'll still sign it, just not yet. Take the document home and talk to your dad. If you agree with what your dad will tell you, then you can sign it and I'll immediately help your company. If you don't, then there is nothing I can do," Seth said in all seriousness which made Gaby's nervousness even worse.

Gaby quickly stood up and snatched the envelope from Seth's hands in attempt to read whatever it is that they agreed on but Seth quickly stopped her.

"It's not a written agreement Gaby, it was verbal with your dad so you won't find it there. It's totally your choice to agree or not agree, no one is forcing you." He even let his nickname for her slip out of his mouth but he was glad that she didn't realize it, or else he wouldn't know what to say in that situation.

Gabriella felt like a huge load had been dumped on her shoulders and it was really weighing her down. So the fat of her family was all in her hands and she could determine whether to save them or not, who wouldn't feel pressured?

"Can't I just sign it then ask my dad later," she really wanted to get this done over with once and for all. She could focus on the consequences of her actions later.

"I'm afraid not, I wouldn't want you to regret later or start blaming your dad or me for tricking you. After you're sure and signed the document bring it back to me. Take all the time you need and you can come whenever, you'll be let in when you come," that's all he could say at the moment. But he really hoped that she could sign it in any case both parties were going to benefit.

But he had to agree, it was one of his most selfish decisions he had ever made.

"What happens to my father's company until then?" What if she didn't want to sign the document later but her father's blood, sweat and tears were all wasted, she had to do something until she could make a decision.

"You're a smart girl. I'll help your dad until you make your decision and because of that, I'll now give you up to one week. If you haven't made your decision by then, I'm sorry," he would be the one on the loosing end and he had to have something to hold on too.

They were both shrewd. And Seth really liked that she had that side to her. It was not easy to dupe someone with a shrewd behaviour.

"Then I'll get going Mr Williams," she had to see her father and hear what kind of agreement that only needed her consent for their company to be back on their feet.

She hoped that whatever it was, it would not be ridiculous because if it was, her dad would be in for it.

"Alright, I'll just walk you out then," Seth stood from his seat as Gaby started walking out of his office. Apart from wanting to know whatever from her father, she was also running away from Seth, being in the same space as him was clearly not a good thing for her.

The door clicked shut behind her.For a moment, Seth didn’t move. Then he let out a slow breath, dragging a hand through his hair as if grounding himself. Five minutes—he’d asked for it, planned for it, thought it would be enough to make an impression. It wasn’t.But it was something. And with her… something mattered.—Gabriella didn’t stop walking until she reached the elevator.Only then did she press the button and let her shoulders drop—just slightly. What was that? She stared at her reflection in the polished metal doors. Composed. Untouched. Exactly how she always looked. So why did her pulse feel off? She knew that staying around Seth for long might let him catch on, she was sure Seth was aware of the effect he had on her, but he never talked about it, not even once. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable and that made her feel good that he cared about her feelings.“You’d let me walk away…”The words echoed faintly in her mind.No deals. No conditions. She knew that he

Seth set the glass down on the small table in front of her.“Warm honey water,” he said simply.Gabriella’s eyes flickered to it, then back to him. “You’re very confident.”“I’m observant,” he corrected, taking the seat opposite her—not too close, not too far. Careful. She didn’t reach for the glass immediately. “Or calculated.” He didn't even bother asking her what she wanted to drink, and last time, she only said warm water but it came with honey in it. He had been hinting at her since their first meeting.“Would it be worse if I said both?”Her lips twitched, but she masked it quickly. “It would be honest.”“Then I’ll stick with that.”A beat passed.Gabriella finally picked up the glass, her fingers brushing against the warmth. She took a small sip, more to buy herself a moment than out of thirst.“You do realize,” she said, setting it back down, “this doesn’t earn you extra time.”“I know,” Seth replied. “This is me not wasting the five minutes you already gave me.”She leaned ba

Gabriella tilted her head slightly, studying him as if she were weighing all the options she had, but then realised she didn't have much, she had already agreed and also as a businesswoman, she knew not to back down on a deal.“Don’t get too comfortable,” she added, her tone cool but not unkind. “Being ahead of schedule doesn’t mean you’ve passed anything yet.”Seth let out a soft chuckle, slipping his hands into his pockets. “So there’s a test.”“There’s always a test,” she replied. “You just don’t get to see the questions in advance.”“That’s a little unfair, don’t you think?”Gabriella shrugged. “You didn’t exactly start this fairly either.” She was never given the chance to make a choice, with her family in dire saving and only him who could save them. The words landed, not harsh—but precise. A reminder. A boundary. For a moment, Seth didn’t respond. He watched her instead, something quieter settling behind his usual confidence.“Alright,” he said finally, nodding once. “Then I’ll

"Thank you Miss Jones. Mr Williams is expecting you," the lady said to Gabriella and she knew that Seth would be waiting for her at the elevator doors. The elevator doors slid open with a soft chime.Gabriella stepped out first, holding the contract folder a little tighter than necessary. The familiar reception floor felt different this time—quieter, like the air itself was waiting. Before she could take more than two steps forward, the hallway ahead seemed to already know she was coming.Seth was there.Leaning casually near the elevator doors leading into the executive corridor, as though he had been standing there long enough to make waiting look effortless. When he saw her, his expression shifted—still calm and smiling too.“Gabriella,” he said, like he had been holding the name in mind all day.She stopped a few feet away, studying him for a moment. “You didn’t have to wait here.”“I know.” A faint smile. “But I wanted to.”A pause stretched between them. She lifted the folder sl

She almost slapped herself for forgetting such a serious issue. That grace period of one week from Seth Williams had given her so much freedom that she even forgot about it. When she checked the date, she was glad she wasn't out of time because that was the last day that Seth Williams wax expecting a response from her and also when their company's destiny would be decided."Miss Jones, you are a tricky one," that was the first word that came from Seth Williams' mouth when Gabriella Jones finally called him on the last day he had given her to think about her decision regarding her father's company. "Mr Williams, I'm in time just like you had indicated during our meeting," Gabriella was not going to go along with Seth's direction. Like her brother Sam said, she was not an easy target."I see," Seth Williams chuckled hearing Gabriella's reply. His voice was so deep on the phone that it made Gabriella's stomach full of tingly sensations. She tried as much as possible not to speak so that
