Chapter 6: Cassy vs Demi

Cassy frowned when she heard what Demi said but she couldn't help but give her a sharp look.

What’s wrong with this girl? Why isn't she running out of things to say?

Urghhh… She took a deep breath. One more word, you’ll see what you are looking for.

She shook her head and ignored Demi.

She went back to her seat.

“God!” she said in a very low voice but Leon who’s sitting beside him was still able to hear it.

“Hey, just don’t mind her. She’s one of Dash’ minions.” Leon said while smiling at her.

She giggled with the thought. God, if only these girls know what kind of guy Dash is, she’s sure they wouldn’t even imagine having a crush on him.

“I am Demi. I joined the club because…” she turned her eyes around and stopped at Dash’s direction, “ because of our club leader,” projecting her sweetest smile.

God! Really, some girls cannot show even just a little decency. Cassy just rolled her eyes. She won’t stoop down on that level.

“I am inspired by his visions and the sincerity of giving the youth to voice what they feel through Overwrite,” Demi added.

Cassy couldn’t agree more on the last thing that Demi said. She’s right, Dash starting Overwrite is a good thing to express emotions especially with those having difficulty. Well, she doesn't belong to the group, she just really wanted to write, that’s it.

“Thank you, Demi,” Mika said as Demi finished her introduction. “ I hope you all have a good time here in the club and please know that we are your second family here in school. We may have differences but feel free to talk to us about anything you want to share,” and she smiled at everyone in the room.

“Dash, do you need to add anything?”

Dash walked in front and said, “I am pleased to meet everyone today, I think that’s all for now. I am looking forward to our second meeting so we can elect officers that can help us with our club.” He looked at everybody and added, “ I think we should be having our second meeting again tomorrow if that’s okay with you. I will be sending an invite to the emails you provided during registration.”

“Are you going to Overwrite's meeting tomorrow?” Leon asked Cassy.

“I guess, yes, if I don’t have any class during the meeting.” She answered. “ Why do you ask? won't you be able to make it?”

“Well, I just didn’t want the vibe earlier between you and Demi,” Leon said looking a bit worried.

Cassy chuckled, “Do you think I can’t handle her?” then she looked at the guy intently.

He let out a deep sigh,” I know you can. But, I just don’t want you dragging yourself in shame.”

Cassy frowned at what he just said. “ What do you mean?”

“Don’t just mind her and people might think you are too affected about your breakup with Dash. That’s it.” Leon turned his back.

Oh, guys. Really! Do they really need to turn their back without giving enough reason for what they are saying? Cassy just shook her head in disbelief.

The guys she meet seem to be more fickle-minded than her. What does he mean by dragging myself to shame?

Gosh! Leon looks more affected than her with her breakup with Dash.

Sometimes, she couldn’t understand Leon. He shouldn’t join the club with her as she doesn’t like being watched like a little girl.

“Hey, Cassy!” a girl’s voice made her back to her senses.

“Oh, Amari.”

“Are you heading to our last class?”

“Yes, would you like to walk with me?”

“Yes, sure.”

Amari is a new student at their school. She is shy but Cassy can talk to her casually despite her being known as a snobbish girl. Well, she is but if someone is kind to her, then she’s all kind. She’s like a mirror, she reflects what you show towards her.

“How’s your stay so far here in our school?” Cassy starts a conversation as they go to their last class.

“Well, it’s okay. I mean, I am enjoying it.” She shyly smiled at Cassy.

“That’s good. You can go with me and the other guys if you want to,” Cassy offered to her since she noticed that the girl was always alone even when eating lunch.

“Thank you, Cassy.”

“You are always welcome. Oh, by the way, have you joined a club already?” Cassy suddenly remembered. If she can get Amari to join Overwrite, she might get friends easily.

“Not yet, I didn’t have the time to roam around the gym last time.”

“I see. I have joined the club that you might be interested in.”

“Oh, what club is it?”

“Overwrite, a club for writers.”

Cassy saw her eyes widened as she looked at her and excitedly asked,

“Really? You got a writers’ club here?”

Cassy nodded, “Uhh… uh… yes, we do have. It’s just a new club though.”

“Wow, can you help me join? I mean, I am into writing and I love to join that club you just mentioned.”

“Well, that’s no problem at all, we are still looking for members.” Cassy answered, “Do you want to come with me to our meeting tomorrow?”

“Yes, sure. Is that all I need to do to join the club?”

Cassy tried to think what are the things she actually needed when she signed up for the club.

“Uhmm… I think you need to submit at least a sample of your work and they’ll check if you are qualified.”

“That shouldn’t be a problem. I can bring one tom---” Amari wasn’t able to continue what she was saying because she got bumped into someone.

Cassy’s eyes diverted to the person and were shocked by what she saw, it’s Demi!

Demi has a stain on her school blouse because of a spilled cold chocolate and if she isn’t mistaken this was spilled because Amari bumped into her.

“Are you blind?!” Demi gritted her teeth and knowing her bitchiness, Cassy is so sure that she won’t let this go.

Amari quickly got her handkerchief and tried to wipe Demi’s blouse but she pushed Amari’s hand.

“God! What are you doing?” You are just making it spread everywhere.” She shouted again.

Everyone is looking at them. Cassy doesn’t know what to do. She isn’t afraid of Demi but this girl is just really getting on her nerves and she might be unable to hold off herself if she’ll say anything that she doesn't like.

She looked at Amari.

The poor Amari just keeps on saying sorry to Demi who isn’t even listening.

“I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to bump into you.” Amari said as tears started to fill her eyes.

And this is what made Cassy intervene. She can’t just stand situations like this. She cannot stand scenes where one person is being dominated.

“That’s enough.” Cassy held Amari’s hand and was about to go when Demi blocked her way and said,

“Stay away from this, Cassy. This girl spilled chocolate in my blouse and you’ll just pull her as if nothing happened?”

Cassy let out a deep sigh. She looked at Amari and pressed her hand as if saying just leave this one to her. She knows Demi, she feels like she is the queen of their school. She wants to be a tiger and Amari as her prey.

“Demi, look… I don’t mean anything here but Amari already apologized, what else do you want her to do?” She said trying to hold off her voice or she might sound sarcastic.

“Yeah, she did say sorry but if everyone will just be okay with the word “Sorry” then people will just be okay with making mistakes.``

Whoaa…

What a word. Why does she need to make a big deal out of this? God! If this conversation won’t end, they’ll be late and miss the quiz.

“Seriously? Again, Seriously, Demi? Amari is just new here in school and do you really need to make this difficult for her?” Cassy said cannot hide her irritation anymore. “What do you want her to do except for saying sorry? Do you want her to pay for the chocolate?” She said and got a hundred peso bill in her pocket and put it in Demi’s hand.

“Here it is. Buy as much chocolate as you want and I believe you can also buy a powder to wash that blouse of yours.” Cassy didn’t wait for Demi to say a word and she pulled Amari so they could continue walking to their next class. They still have a few minutes and should be able to be there before the quiz starts.

Amari saw Demi unable to react to what Cassy did. Demi was still shocked at what Cassy did to her. She just let Cassy pull her and walked with her.

“Thank you, Cassy,” Amari said in a very low voice.
