Chapter 65

Third person’s POV

The moon hung over the sky like a diamond.

The illumination that it casted over the mountain provided a serene comfort to the couple that had waited for this very moment. It’s about time their suffering cease and this curse ends.

“I love you.” The angel whispered, dressed in beautiful chiton with his wings clearly shown in his back. The bump in his front is already showing promise of a healthy pregnancy and for that, the couple is thankful.

They just need to survive.

“I love you too.” Crocell whispered back, holding his husband by his waist and kissing him lovingly on the lips. Time had never changed his love for the angel and if it did in a way, it would’ve been the increasing intensity of what he feels for the other as time passes by.

“Are you ready?” Hades asked as he walked in on the couple who are currently hugging each other. Lux smiled as nodded.

“I’ve been ready for some time now.” He chuckled. “By the way, is Camael already here?”

Hades simply nodded and the couple followed him into the old sycamore tree. Candles are lit as well as incense. The wind is strongly blowing atop the mountain yet the candles which are lit by Lux’s fire stays unwavering as it stood tall, lighting the place up.

Beelzebub, Leviathan, Metatron, Lucifer and Azazel who will be helping in lifting the curse are there, waiting for the couple as they hold the barriers up. Lev instantly went to the pregnant man’s side with a worried gaze.

“Dear I heard you weren’t able to keep the food down this dinner, are you alright?” The demon asked, wind blowing his braided purple locks.

The angle nodded and smiled at his mother in law. “I’m fine mom, just a bit nervous about the whole thing. I heard from father that you didn’t had good sleep last night.” The angel asked and in turn the demon blushed bright red which is a reaction he wasn’t expecting.

“Yeah, just ignore that.” Leviathan sighs at his husband’s chuckles and placed his hand on the smaller male’s cheek. “Remember that we are gonna be with you the whole process so don’t worry. Okay?”

“Thank you.” Lux replied. Leviathan had always been the mother figure he didn’t have before. “Thank you for everything.”

“Oh shush, this is just my mere duty as your mother. You make my son happy.” Lev said and moved to his son. Words are no longer needed between the both of them. Leviathan and Crocell had always understood each other in a way that no one else can. Blame it on the fact that he carried the demon in his stomach for months but their mother-son bond was too strong.

“We can do this.” Lev laughed as his son gave a very uncharacteristically nervous look. “You are Crocell, the only son of two high ranking demons and we are getting help from the lord of the Greek underworld. I didn’t teach you to live today with the fear of what happens tomorrow.”

“I know.” Crocell licked his lips. “Thanks mom.”

“Now let’s do this.” The purple haired demon declared.

Lux’s POV

This is far too easy and too good to be true.

I don’t know why but there’s this thing in my gut ever since I was little. I feel like things aren’t supposed to be so easy or else they’ll end up badly. I feel like when things are too good in my life, something is bound to happen, something bad.

And at the very moment, that is what I am feeling.

“Are you okay?” Crocell asked as he helped me inside the ground with Azazel’s insignia. It is just directly below the proud sycamore tree that stood tall despite the heat of the desert. The candles are all lit up, casting orange glow to the ground and the surrounding. The moon above us rose pristine, white as snow.

“I’m okay. I guess.” I breathed out. It’s gotten a bit chilly specially that we are in this location. “I don’t know my love, it’s… I guess I will always have doubts about the world.” I said and my husband just looked me in the eye before leaning in and kissing me breathless, his tongue gliding over mine, coaxing all the negative thoughts out.

“It’s going to be alright Lux.” He whispers, my name rolling out of his tongue like a breath of wind. “I would be here and as long as we are together I would never let anything happen to you.” He smiled, giving me a tender kiss on the forehead before rubbing my stomach and cooing at our unborn children.

I just looked at my husband with warm heart as he continued to be the dorky man he is, cooing at the sight of my bump. Our little intimate moment got cut short as Camael appeared with my brother, signifying the start of the ceremony. Crocell dropped a short kiss on my nose before stepping out of the circle and waving at me, reassuring me that everything will be okay.

I prepared myself mentally but this is still scary as fuck. Watching my brother and my husband simultaneously cast their own barrier to keep possible unwanted visitors out got my heart pounding a bit and stomach doing twists and turns. I think this fear is founded on the fact that it’s not just me and Crocell anymore. There’s our blessings.

“Blessing.” I whispered with a smile and Crocell seemed to catch on as he mouthed it back before I was laid down on the flat surface of the wooden platform with warm pillows and a thick, thick white covers.

“Are you ready?” Hades asked and I nodded before Azazel motioned me to close my eyes as he will paint me with the intricate designs that the Source will send through him. I felt the gliding of the cool paintbrush over my skin, leaving wet trails as I was stripped naked, only the thin cloth that Hades draped over my body. Nudity never once bothered me but somehow… it made me uncomfortable.

“…Heed thee thy prayers and look at your descendants, your son of light.” Hades murmured and as soon as he bowed I felt this overwhelming itch all over me. It’s as if I was covered by a yarn made of wool—a hard scratchy wool that bites at my skin.

“Ahhhhhh!”

Crocell’s POV

Lux’s screams are unbearable. If it wasn’t for my father’s firm hold on my body I might’ve jumped already and tried comforting him but alas. This is a ritual. It has to be finished no matter how hard or how painful it is.

Azazel and Hades are communicating in tongues, the language of source. It is a dead language that only a handful knows and they are bargaining at the looks of it before the threads suddenly unfurled around my husband’s body, going haywire everywhere.

Red threads that pools around his heart suddenly appeared and the two nodded and held their hands in front of them before untangling the threads. Lucifer looks tense as well as everyone else in the room. I didn’t like how Lux suddenly ceased screaming and is appearing to be in a daze. I didn’t like the feeling of seeing him in a vulnerable state.

And I didn’t like how Camael’s eyes shifted to gold before he acted possessed and ran towards the ceremonial circle like a hooligan.

“NO!” I shouted and blasted the angel away. He went rolling about ten meters from where Lux is, his chiton torn on the side, bleeding all over.

The angel just spat blood from his mouth before standing up like nothing happened. Metatron and the rest are in shock, looking at the angel with wide eyes. His natural blue orbs now replaced with literal gold.

“Keep him away from us.” Hades ordered and reinforced a small barrier around the three of them as he worked with the threads. Beads of sweat can be seen in his forehead, forming easily as he concentrated on the task at hand. Admittedly, it wasn’t easy, what they are doing, I mean.

Even more that an idiot is interfering with their work. Damn it.

“It’s been awhile, Yahweh.” I heard Lucifer say as he crossed his arms.

“You used to call me father.” Camael said, craning his head side to side which bought on a change in his appearance. His long hair had become shoulder length and he grew in size, standing at almost 7 foot tall, just as tall as Lucifer and I.

“Hmm, used to. Wonder why I stopped.”

I shuddered at the sight of him appearing just inside our barriers and we didn’t even noticed it.

“What did you do to Camael?” Metatron asked, appearing in front of us, looking like he just dropped his heart. “Where is Camael?”

Yahweh looked almost bored as he gazed at the angel before he looked at his nails as if it interested him more.

“Let’s just say there was a need for intervention.” The god said and dragged an unsheathed sword. “But that’s another thing to worry about in another time. What you should be worrying about is your own intervention.”

I barely kept my eyes as the golden sword came rushing down on Metatron who easily deflected the object with his armed wings. It was almost the speed of light how the larger angel got changed into his armor made of shiny metal.

“Keep him away from us.” Azazel shouted, now even looking up from what they are doing. I can feel Lux tugging at our bond, silently giving me support where it’s due.

Father looked at mom before he instructed him to go by where Lux is to create an extra barrier to reinforce Hades’ just to be sure. Lucifer stood near the circle as well, ready to defend.

It was just a fraction of a second as Father defended his stance when an angel with a moderate build came to destroy him with a sword—a sword of with lightning enveloping it all over. Without a doubt, that would be Archangel Michael coming to assist his father and his Lord. Gabrielle appeared not too far from where Metatron stood and they began fighting while I took the initiative to attack Yahweh as he began raising his sword. His moves aren’t that sharp as expected of a God who isn’t used to fighting but his power makes up for it. He’s attentive and smart.

“Lux’s life wouldn’t be like this if you didn’t decide to think with your genitals.” He commented, bringing a sword down my face which I managed to avoid by jumping backwards. Bad move as I lost my footing due to the unleveled ground and ended up with my foot stuck between rocks. Yaweh took the opportunity, kicking me in the jaw and bringing his sword, slicing my chest. It would’ve been fatal if not for the blast that father sent his way, knocking the god off of me as I unstuck my foot. The cut was huge but I’ll live.

“Lux deserved happiness and you’re the one who took that from him.” I said. The god just looked at me as if what I said wasn’t the truth. He was quick to recover from his fall and began attacking me again. I noticed the others holding their grounds until a loud booming sound echoed and large roots began sprouting off the ground, attacking us.

“You are the demon who corrupted him. He was my shot at source.” The God was in full rage, eyes glowing as he shoots attacks after attacks.  I managed to parry him well and began sending him bullets after bullets of energy blasts the size of a baseball.

It was too fast when things happen but suddenly two angels appeared in front of me and I couldn’t even took a step as they chained me down in thorns. Raphael and Ezekiel. Two loyal dogs who are obeying their master as they held me down by the wings.

I thrashed and managed to free a wing when a lot more angels flooded in with the now completely destroyed main barrier than we had set up.

It was a fraction of a second but when I lost sight of Yahweh. He was standing in front of Lux.

And I felt my heart stop at that.

---

Lux’s POV

I can’t do anything.

I couldn’t move. It’s as if I was held down by a large rock sitting atop my body. It was like a paralysis with my senses going haywire.

I am laying down on the slab of marble as Hades and Azazel unthreaded each thread around me, carefully untangling the crimson red threads that came out of my soul and separating it from the gold ones that was my very soul itself. The process must’ve been complicated as the two expert on curses took their time to be careful.

The pain was unbearable. More so that Crocell isn’t here beside me, he isn’t here to hold my hand and ease my worries. I made sure I was channeling the pain to my body and not towards my babies. I tried my best to stay as calm as possible but when I heard the loud sounds of chaos erupting around me. I almost stood up in panic despite my state.

I could only silently cry as I saw my husband and my loved ones fight to death. Mother is protecting the inner barrier as angels came rushing in with the guise of taking me back to where I belong. My husband is fighting Yahweh and I felt a silent scream in my throat as I witnessed him being slashed and the haze that I was in after as my worry finally took over was so immense that every swallow of my throat was constricted.

Chaos, please… please let my husband live. Make this end.

More angels flooded in and Hades pales as he hasten up until Yahweh appeared in front of us.

Hades got slammed down before they wrestled on the ground and Azazel still operated on me, panicking as he tried his best. I wanted to help them so bad but I am tied down in an almost paralyzed state. I can’t help but just watch them as I suffer this experience alone. I wanted to comfort my children who had been moving around a bit, probably because of what I am feeling.

Stay strong, daddy and mommy is here my little ones.

“Don’t worry. It’ll be over soon.” Azazel whispered as beads of sweat roll down his temples. I blinked to signal him that I am thankful for all the troubles had taken while helping us.

“Azazel, behind you!” I heard Hades call out an arrow suddenly came flying on Azazel’s left, narrowly missing him by a couple of centimeter before landing on an angel’s wing that was trying to ambush him from behind. I gasped at the close encounter.

“I got it.” I heard Lucifer call from the other side, nonchalantly firing arrows after arrows.

“Be more careful! You almost hit me!” Azazel yelled before unthreading yet again. “This is the last two and we’re done. Thank fucking chaos. Hades! Twenty seconds!” He shouted.

That close encounter should’ve been a warning as to what’s about to come. But still, we we’re caught off guard as a silhouette of the man we all despised meeting appeared close to us. Too close for comfort that it made me jerk involuntary as Azazel tugged on the last thread and Yahweh took hold of the other end with eyes full of fire, ready to burn whoever opposes him.

“Stop it! It’s already done. Give up.” Azazel said as he firmly took hold of the thread that Yahweh is yanking from his grasp. “Let go.”

“You’ll never corrupt light. I will never let you corrupt light.” Yahweh growled. “And I will never let you take the source’s blessing on my pantheon.”

Yahweh pulled his sword from a void with the intent to kill Azazel for being in his way. Azazel on that moment suddenly tore the thread in two.

“Thou shall be free from the binds of all constraint and be reconnected to the source, the chaos. Angel of light you shall be torn from thee and reborn new as a light of source. Heed thy blessing, chaos.” He chanted in hurry and I felt my heart suddenly stop before beating once more, this time, sure and proud.

Yahweh was not thrilled as he felt the disconnection and Azazel was in sure danger. The glinting sharp blade was thrust forward and with the strength of a god, I sure know that this would end in a bad way. I felt my heart stop for a millisecond as I threw my hands up but it seemed like it was too late, his sword had already pierced through the chest of a person I did not expect to see.

Azazel looks at the scene with wide eyes and a scream was tore out of my throat as I watched the whole scenario unfold.

Camael was standing in front of Azazel, bright blood flowing from the chest upon which the sword had been embedded. It happened so fast as the angel fell on his knees and everything came to a still. Metatron was running, ignoring all the angels that was in his way. The way he ran is full of desperation as he halted to scoop the smaller angel in his arm.

Lucifer and Crocell came as fast as they could, standing in front of Yahweh who seemed to be in a state of shock. The angels who are fighting beside him witnessed everything. They witnessed the desperation, the aggression and the pathetic side of the God they had admired for so long. They witnessed how a God that was close to perfection in their mind fall prey to emotion and greed.

It’s as if he was a mere mortal and not the divine being they had worshipped.

“What have you done?” Metatron whispered as he looked down. Camael looked vulnerable. He looked as if he has not slept for a few days and his clothes are in tatters.

“I…protected Azazel.” Camael coughed. “So he can complete the rituals.” The weak smile that he displayed as he coughed up globs of blood had me in tears. I heard loud footsteps as Hades came running, kneeling down to see Camael’s wound.

“Camael…” Yahweh called out slowly. “I-I will heal you. What have you done?! Are you insane?!”

“Haven’t you done enough?!” Lucifer growled. “Just go! There’s nothing here for you! Nothing!”

Yahweh seemed hesitant to leave but when Raphael and Gabriel placed their hands on him, he had no choice but to disappear along with the angels.

There was a few seconds of silence as Hades inspected the smaller angel. “Camael, stay awake. I’m gonna heal you.” The god frantically said, searching for a medical kit he always carried when Camael shook his head, putting his hand on the God’s forearm.

“I… I am already disintegrating. My time has come.” Camael said. “This… is my curse too. I will return chaos.” The angel smiled despite everything.

“What do you mean?” Metatron asked, eyes glazed with unshed tears. “Y-You promised to be my side.” He softly whispered as tears fell down Camael’s eyes. “You are my only friend Camael.”

“I’m sorry, Tron, I’m sorry.” The angel said and placed his bloodied hand on my brother’s face. I am sobbing at the moment as Crocell held me in his chest. He is also quietly looking over with pained expression. Camael sacrificed his life so we can live ours.

“Please complete the ritual.” Camael said and all you can hear is the serene humming of the source as if it is rejoicing while our hearts broke.

Everyone was silent as Hades sent soothing energy to ease Camael of the pain. Metatron is silently hunched over, crying at the sight of his best friend, dying on his arms.

“Crocell, Lux… come.” Hades called and we slowly walked to where Camael is, kneeling down as we are handed obsidian knives.

“I’m sorry this happened Camael.” Crocell says, taking the angel’s weak hand.

“This is my destiny.” The angel just softly said and smiled at the both of us, coughing every now and then. “You both deserve to be happy after everything.”

“You are source’s blessing to us.” I said and placed a kiss on his forehead. “You are our blessing.”

Camael looked so weak as he gave the both of us a squeeze before we cut a part of his wrist, drinking from the source of his vein.

I cannot explain what happened next but I can hear Hades chanting along with Azazel who is purifying and purging the curse out of us. I feel like I was flying though I’m rooted to the ground as I took Crocell’s hand in mine and with that, the curse was broken. All that’s left is to purify our souls and ask for the source’s blessing.

We are finally free.
