Serena's Point of View

"Adrian, eat another bite. You're eating too little these days."

I pouted at him.

"How are you even planning to recover like this?"

I was helping him eat, and we weren't even halfway through his meal before he started complaining.

"I'm full."

"How can you be full? You haven't even eaten half of your meal."

"I just lie here all day, doing nothing. How can I even digest all the food you are asking me to eat?"

Before I could tell him anything, there was a knock on the door.

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   206. For the Rest of Our Lives

Serena’s Point of View“Sweet or savory?”“Huh?” I looked at Sofia. The cafeteria was a bit crowded. Most people were looking at the beautiful woman who was elegantly dressed and looked like she didn't belong in a hospital cafeteria. But completely unbothered by all the stares she was receiving, Sofia was focused on reading the menu. What Noah had said was actually true. Sofia and Adrian had a similar kind of temperament when it came to things like this.“What would you like to eat with your coffee?”She looked at me.“I'm not hungry.”“You need to eat. You need energy to take care of him, at least.”I smiled.“You sound like Adrian.”“That's terrifying. Don't ever say that again.”My smile turned into a laugh. Finally, we ended up buying two pieces of blueberry cheesecake and cappuccinos. We found a quiet table near the window. As we ate, we talked about random things. My work. Her work. How much Adrian hated being stuck in the hospital. It was surprisingly easy to talk to her.“He

How can I even digest all the food you are asking me to eat?"Before I could tell him anything, there was a knock on the door. Then, before either of us could even ask who it was, the door opened and Sofia walked inside."Hey, you two."She smiled as she walked toward the bed. There was a small paper bag and a thermos lunch box in her hands."I'm done."Adrian quickly pushed the food tray away.He had clearly used Sofia's arrival as an opportunity to stop eating."You're not done."I narrowed my eyes on him.Sofia laughed."I see he's already driving you crazy.""He is.""I just said I can't eat anymore. I'm full."Adri

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   204. He Was a Child Too

Serena’s Point of ViewAfter protesting that he wasn't sleepy for close to an hour, Adrian finally fell asleep. However, his fingers were still wrapped around mine even in his sleep.I sat quietly beside him, watching how peaceful and relaxed his face looked.I always wanted my Adrian to look like this.Peaceful and stress-free.But unfortunately, he was far from being like that when he was awake.Especially with his father and whatever plans he had against Adrian.Adrian had told me everything about his father's visit. The open threat. And his decision that it wasn't safe for me to stay in my apartment anymore. He also wanted me to have bodyguards following me everywhere from now on.Seriously, I didn't like the thought of strangers following me around. It made me feel suffocated. But I'd seen the fear in his eyes as he explained everything to me.Adrian had a lot to deal with right now.I didn't want him worrying about me too.If knowing I was safe could take at least some of the st

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   203. Not Taking Any Risks

Adrian’s Point of ViewI was still staring at the closed door even a few seconds after my father left.Otherwise, even she won't know what's coming for her.My hand tightened around the blanket.I knew my father well.He hadn't made any open threats until now.And today, he finally had.It wasn't an empty threat.I reached for my phone and called Watson. He answered after the second ring.“Sir?”“Where are you?”“At the office.”“Is Serena still at her apartment?”Serena had gone home because she needed to pick up a few things. She had practically stayed at the hospital since I was admitted, and obviously, she had no plans to leave me until I was able to go home.“Yes. I think she's still busy packing. Garry is downstairs waiting for her.”My jaw tightened.“She's alone upstairs?”“Yes. Garry will let me know the moment she comes down.”“Ask him to go upstairs and wait in front of her door.”Watson paused for a moment.“Okay. I'll call you back.”He hung up.I knew nothing would proba

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   202. She Won’t Know What’s Coming for Her

Adrian’s Point of ViewI simply stared at him quietly, recalling what Serena had told me.It was my father who had sent everyone else out and asked Noah to bring her to me when I woke up and refused to even let the doctors examine me until I saw her.“So you sent everyone out and asked Noah to bring her because you felt sorry for me?”“Otherwise, why do you think I endured your childish drama?”“No… It's just…”I stared at him.“I didn't know you were actually capable of feeling something like that for me.”His face darkened.“Adrian, I am your father. What do you think of me?”What could I think of him? He'd had an affair with another woman and even brought her and her child into our home while my mother was still alive. But without saying any of that, I simply kept looking at him.“I could have asked the doctors to examine you even if you protested. I could have refused to let her enter this room. I could have thrown her out of the hospital the moment I knew she was here.”I swallow

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   201. A Perfect Match.

Serena’s Point of ViewSOFIA HUDSON STANDS BY ADRIAN HENRIX FOLLOWING SERIOUS ACCIDENT — FUTURE FIANCÉE SHOWS HER SUPPORTI stared at the headline for a few seconds.Future fiancée.I hated those two words, even though I knew with certainty that they meant nothing.Letting out a sigh, I looked at the photos attached to the article. There were four photos altogether. In the first one, Sofia was sitting beside Adrian's hospital bed, holding a glass of water toward him. Adrian was looking at her.The next photo showed Sofia adjusting Adrian's pillow, Adrian lifting his body slightly to let her do it.The third photo had been taken while they were simply talking. They were looking at each other, both smiling slightly. Sofia's hands rested on the bed while Adrian's were neatly placed over his stomach. The final photo had been taken in front of the ICU, where members of both families stood together outside the door. It must have been taken while Adrian was still in the surgery. Relief wash

Adrian’s Point of ViewI returned to the office after the meeting at 4Axis.There were documents waiting. There were always documents waiting.I went through one file, trying to read the figures carefully, but I wasn’t focused. My mind kept returning to the restaurant. To her.I hadn’t expected to

Serena’s Point of View“For table seven!”Lucy called from the kitchen, and I quickly picked up the tray.It was a Friday evening, my third day at Lena’s. With Lena suddenly ill, Marco was managing the restaurant, and the whole place felt slightly off.I made my way through the crowded tables. The

Serena’s Point of ViewFinding a place to stay wasn’t easy, and I didn’t have the luxury to be picky. After a few calls and visits, I finally found a room in a shared apartment.Fortunately, they only required the monthly rent as a deposit. The place was small, just enough for a bed, a table, and a
