Chapter 4

Autor: Round Belly
Because of that, I spent the entire night reinforcing the walls again.

Using the survival points I had left, I upgraded the structure to make it even stronger.

I also exchanged points for a slick industrial coating, making the walls nearly impossible to climb.

Even if the zombies managed to get partway up, they’d slide right back down.

Only after everything was finished did I finally return to my room and get some sleep.

The next morning, the first rays of sunlight slipped through the curtains and spilled across my soft bed.

By the time I washed up and headed downstairs, the chef had already prepared breakfast according to my nutritional needs.

As I ate, I scrolled through the internet while communication networks were still barely functioning, checking the latest news about the apocalypse.

Posts in countless different languages flooded every platform, but they all carried the same emotions: fear and despair.

The sudden zombie outbreak had thrown the entire world into chaos.

And yet, while everyone else panicked, I remained perfectly calm, leisurely finishing my breakfast before pouring myself a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

Then a video suddenly appeared on the front page.

Someone had uploaded footage of the girl who came begging for help at my estate a few days earlier.

The video clearly showed me standing upstairs, coldly watching everything through the window while ignoring the girl’s screams and pleas for help.

The uploader even exposed my personal information and the address of my estate.

At a time when the entire world was gripped by fear, my refusal to save her unsurprisingly ignited public outrage.

Alongside the video, they also leaked records of the supplies I’d purchased before the apocalypse.

In an instant, everyone learned that I possessed enormous amounts of food and resources.

The uploader passionately claimed that someone as heartless as me staying alive would only lower everyone else’s chances of survival.

According to her, the survivors should unite and storm my estate together.

As long as they succeeded, she promised she would redistribute my supplies to those truly in need.

Her supposed kindness and compassion stood in sharp contrast to my cold indifference.

The internet exploded almost immediately.

As expected, the comment section overwhelmingly supported her.

Within minutes, people began organizing groups dedicated to “taking down” my estate.

Watching the online mob rapidly grow larger, I remained completely unfazed.

I couldn’t even be bothered to defend myself, because I already understood one thing clearly:

In the apocalypse, having resources was a crime in itself.

Besides, after all my renovations, the estate’s defenses had become virtually indestructible.

Even zombies couldn’t get inside, so how could ordinary humans possibly break through?

Still, the moment I saw the video, I immediately sensed something was wrong.

Every window in the estate had been replaced with one-way glass.

So how could anyone possibly have filmed my face from outside?

I instantly realized the video had been part of a carefully planned setup.

When I clicked on the uploader’s profile, the account was obviously brand new.

It had only ever posted that single video.

The person behind the account clearly didn’t want their identity exposed.

But I already knew exactly who it was.

In this world, the only person who couldn’t stand seeing me live well was my dear sister, Sharon.

Back when I first moved into the estate, she showed up once wearing that fake, affectionate smile of hers.

She told me the estate only fell into my hands because she’d generously given it up and reminded me not to forget the kindness she showed me.

If I hadn’t lived through my previous life, I might actually have believed her.

I stayed on guard around her and never allowed her inside.

The gifts she brought were thrown away the moment they touched my hands.

After she left, I had the estate’s entire front gate replaced immediately.

From that point on, she never appeared within range of my surveillance system again.

So how had she managed to monitor me so closely despite all the security measures?

Unable to shake the feeling that something was wrong, I took the ten guards and searched the entire estate again, tearing through every inch of the property.

  • When the Zombie Horde Came, I Built the Ultimate Shelter   Chapter 15

I let out a cold, mocking laugh.I’d said it from the very beginning that someone stupid enough to spend all their time hurting others was doomed to fail, no matter how powerful their cheat abilities were.Suddenly, Sharon lunged for the gun lying on the ground and pulled the trigger at me without the slightest hesitation.Everything happened too fast.No one had time to react. The smile on her face had become almost insane, as if she could already see herself inheriting everything here after my death.I only sneered in response. If I dared stand there without dodging, it was obviously because I was wearing body armor. What I didn’t expect was that just before the bullet reached me, the zombie bird suddenly burst out from nowhere and threw itself in front of me.The bullet slammed into its hardened feathers with a sharp metallic clang. The moment Sharon saw the zombie bird clearly, terror flooded her face. She opened her mouth to scream, but before a sound could escape, the bird clampe

She had gone insane.A few seconds later, I suddenly sat upright.Wait…Could it be that the eggs had hatched?Zombies didn’t need food to survive, but baby birds were different.Even though zombies couldn’t feel pain, they still instinctively avoided danger like the acid rain. And yet this zombie bird had actually suppressed that instinct for the sake of its children. No matter what, the bird indirectly helped me more than once. It patrolled the estate every day and dealt with wandering zombies, saving me plenty of trouble. It was probably time I returned the favor.I rushed up to the attic and stood in front of the window where the zombie bird could clearly see me.A creature that wouldn’t even allow zombies into the courtyard obviously wouldn’t tolerate me casually invading its territory either. The moment it spotted me, it immediately swooped toward the attic. But I reacted quickly, placing a plate of blueberries inside before slamming the door shut. There was no telling how long t

Before he passed away, Dad had originally planned to build a greenhouse on the estate grounds. He just never got the chance to finish it.And somehow, the system’s special reward was completing that greenhouse for me, which meant I finally had a place where I could grow crops. The moment I entered the system-built greenhouse, I froze in shock.Rich, fertile soil stretched endlessly into the distance before me.On the other side stood livestock pens already stocked with feed.I could not only farm crops here; I could raise animals too.Excited beyond words, I immediately scattered a handful of seeds into the soil. What happened next left me stunned. The seeds began sprouting at a speed visible to the naked eye.Clearly, the greenhouse didn’t just provide endless farmland; it accelerated growth itself. At this rate, I’d be harvesting my own produce within days.I instantly exchanged points for young livestock as well.If plants grew this quickly here, then animals probably would too.I

The moment I stepped outside, the scorching heat nearly knocked me unconscious, even through the system-made protective suit. But the memory of being torn apart alive by zombies in my previous life forced me to stay calm.I clutched my rifle tightly and sprinted toward the top of the wall. The other guards were already firing nonstop. One of them nearly broke down as he shouted that they had already tried using explosives to blow apart the zombie pile. But the bombs barely did any damage.Worse, one of the zombies had actually picked up a grenade and thrown it back at them. If its aim had been even slightly better, they would’ve been blown to pieces. At this point, the only reliable way to kill zombies was still destroying their brains.I frowned deeply.Just during the first week of the apocalypse, I was still able to burn large groups of zombies to death by detonating abandoned cars. And yet only a short time later, even explosives were becoming ineffective against them.My fears had

She wasn’t dead, just unconscious. But I had no interest in worrying about her.A quick glance to the side immediately caught my attention instead. My vegetable sprouts had started curling up at the edges. They were perfectly healthy yesterday. My heart ached a little.I reached out to touch one of the wilted leaves and a snowflake suddenly landed in my palm.I didn’t realize then that the snowflake was only the beginning.Over the next week, the daytime temperature continued climbing to terrifying levels, eventually reaching nearly 140 degrees Fahrenheit at its hottest. But once night fell, the temperature would plummet to almost negative sixty. The difference between day and night was so extreme it felt insane.Even though it was technically still summer, every night I could see thick layers of snow piling up outside, only for it to rapidly evaporate beneath the scorching heat the next morning.Sharon hadn’t come looking for trouble in quite some time now.During the day, zombies cro

  • When the Zombie Horde Came, I Built the Ultimate Shelter   Chapter 10

I barely had a few peaceful days before another alert came in late one night.Sharon was outside my estate again. Then again, it made sense. Her system was a Resource Plundering System. She only earned points by stealing from others, unlike me.My Apocalypse Survival System rewarded me for killing zombies and farming crops, which meant I could live comfortably in the apocalypse without risking my life scheming against people every day.And whenever I dealt with one of Sharon’s ridiculous little plots, my survival points only increased further, making my already comfortable life even better.Sharon clearly assumed my estate had already lost power.Even if I had backup electricity, she probably believed there was no way it could support a place this large for long. That was why she finally dared to show up openly tonight.I watched through the monitor as she lowered her head and rummaged through her backpack. For the first time in a long while, my heartbeat climbed into my throat.Sharo
