"Anyone in the Livestream want to hear about our Alpha’s first kiss?!" My mate's childhood friend, Ravena piped up with a cheeky grin as she looked from the camera to everyone attending the midnight barbecue in the pack garden
As usual,I'd spent three days prepping for tonight, cleaning the grill till my fingers were painted in soot, ordered wagyu beef and harvested veggies from this very garden.
All for Ravena to waltz with her camera and claiming the spotlight for herself and instead of her pseudo security updates she wanted to bring up that beaten story of her first kiss with my mate.
“Colt, can't you stop her? She's going to livestream that story," I asked him through mindlink.
He flipped a patty and replied casually, "Selena, the story is over ten years old. Don't tell me you’re jealous of a story of silly teenagers messing around?”
My pride was pricked so I entered the packhouse with the excuse of fetching vegetables as my cheeks flushed.
I returned hoping the story would be over and down with then I heard;"Sis you know what would be fun ?"it came one of my husband's long-time friend’s and his Beta, Jaden, said with a mischievous glint in his eyes as he adjusted the camera on the livefeed, "if reenact the kiss, give the viewers a visual,"
“Yes!" Liliana his mate beamed holding up a half eaten burger, “the comments are going crazy for it!”
She began to read them out while watching me from the corner of her eye.
" User 1045 said; I'll send moonflowers if they kiss, it's a dream come true. And Wolfiehart22 said; Once I watch their kiss I could die happy! Another viewer says; The Beta’s daughter and the Alpha kissing? Could a match be more perfect?”
She kept reading each comment, loud enough for everyone to hear. Each comment pierced my chest like a needle, truly none of them regarded me as Luna because of my outward meekly omega status.
If I told the truth, nobody in this garden could hold their head up to me.
But since I kept it locked away even a weed due for uprooting would had more presence than me.
Knots formed in my stomach as I found Ravenna and without a flicker of hesitation-or shame-she began to catwalk sensually to my mate who wasn't budging an inch to stop her.
"Ravenna!" I yelled and she just giggled leaving a peck on Colt's welcoming cheek.
"Did you really think I would kiss my best friend on the lips? He's like a brother to me,"
"Yes,"Colt backed her up without missing a beat, "Lyra we've already been together for five years, don't you think it's time to let go of this petty jealousy?"
••••
The silence was so loud you'd hear a pin drop.
There it was again, Ravenna pushing the line tactfully without crossing it so that Colt would swoop in- her knight in shining armor.
And I was left regarded as the petty one.
"Lyra, I'm sorry,"she said patronizingly, "...I've always been so comfortable with Colt, do you know we only stopped bathing one another when he got together with you?"
I gasped, searching Colt's face. He didn't deny it just shrugged like it was a normal thing.
"Lyra don't overthink it, I don't even see Raven as a woman, she's practically one of my brothers,"
A spark swept through Raven's eyes, "Yes, look..." She reached forward and grabbed his crotch while I was already facing the grill, next to him and she applied enough pressure that a muffled moan escaped his lips.
He caught my fuming face with the corner of his eye and finally came to his senses slapping her hand away.
"Ravenna, you never change do you?"
He chuckled and the rest of his friends including his Beta Jaden laughed like her massaging his privates was the funniest part of their Tuesday nights barbecues.
Jaden saw I wasn't joining in on the laughter and coughed awkwardly.
"Luna Lyra we're always messing around like this..."he brought the camera to me"...now let's have some fun,is there anything you want to share with the viewers?"
I dug my fingers into my palm letting the physical pain distract me from the emotional one bubbling within.
There was only so much I could take, Maybe it's about time I show them I have some bite in me.
"Okay, since the joke is having no boundaries let's have at it," I said before meeting Ravenna's eyes, and in one fluid motion I grabbed her skirt and ripped it right there for all to see.
I could just imagine how the comments exploded.
She screamed like she had been shot with a silver bullet
Colt broke out of the shock first shoving me away from his dear 'bestfriend' and Jaden set down the camera.
"Lyra, why would you do that?" He said, protectively wrapping her waist with his leather jacket.
"I thought we were all joking around," I seethed getting back on our feet, "So it's funny when she's being inappropriate but too far when I do the same?"
Not a single person dared to breath, they just threw aghast looks at each other.
Ravenna broke the silence first, slipping into her 'damsel in distress' mode that fit her like a glove.
"I don't know why you have to be like this Luna Lyra, you insisted you wanted to join us but you didn't have to since you're so sensitive,"
I forced a smile, gouding her.
"Looks like someone else is being sensitive,"
"Lyra enough!" Colt snapped at me still clinging to Ravenna like she could shatter, "this is unbefitting of a luna, now apologize to Ravenna for ripping her skirt,"
This moment was de ja vu, again and again it was Ravenna over me.
Suddenly, a void filled my chest swallowing any emotion.
I swiped up my purse, braced to leave. I hadn't taken a step before Colt grip clenched around my wrist his face red and flaring with fury.
"Lyra, my Beta, gamma and their mates are here, do you know how embarrassing it's going to be if you just storm out like a pup?"
And then it was, on the list of his priorities was his 'brother' Ravenna and his reputation.
But where did I stand?
With a force that even shocked myself a forced my hand away and spat in his face.
The laughter in the room died immediately and everyone transformed into statues.
All except Ravenna who didn't hesitate to use the moment to her advantage, she took a piece of her ript skirts and wiped the saliva off his face.
"Okay everyone, what's with the atmosphere?"
She looked at me softly like someone addressing a petulant child.
"My dearest Luna, Colt and I are best friends and brothers only. Do you think that if I saw him differently we wouldn't be together already?"
Her words struck me like a whip especially since Colt did not even bother to deny it.
She took Colt's fingers and then brought them the mind intertwining all of them as his touch was icy.
"Colt, sometimes I forget our luna is just an Omega and she doesn't have the same stamina as us, you should take her to bed so she can rest,"
I heard cushioned chuckles coming from his friends and I wanted to bury myself.
This time I marched out of the garden, and through the Packhouse until I was in front of my car, tears blurred my vision and the keys trembled in my hand.
Colt came from behind me stomping until he slumped his hand against the car he's alpha strength causing it to shake back and forth.
I trembled even more for a moment than steadied myself and said; "I can't do this anymore Colt,"
"You're overreacting-"
"No!"I screamed using my full lung capacity, "if anything I have been underreacting all this time!"
Everything that I had kept bottled up inside came bursting out like the dam had broke.
"Where was your precious best friend when the Elder council almost banished you over something you didn't do?"
"Ly-"
"Who was there for you when she wouldn't even pick up your calls and avoided you like the plague?"
"She wasn't-"
"It was me!"I stabbed a finger at my chest, "it's always been me! me!! ME!"
I shoved the key into my car and yanked it open, turning on the ignition and reversing as he called out my name. I kept driving without direction until I ran out of gas then out of morbid curiosity I checked the livestream.
It was back on, and my heart nearly stopped when I saw Ravenna sitting on Colt's lap as he stroked her hair.
The comments were going feral.
Tworivers((oh my goddess, can that witch just die so you guys can be happy together?))
Another one commented.
((She is so hateful, why always tormenting our lovely Ravenna, does she think if Ravenna wanted Alpha Colt she wouldn't just snap her fingers and he'd be all over her?))
Someone replied to that comment ((She's dumb and ugly, what a combo!))
Liliana walked over to them, hanging them her iPad, giggling to herself.
And to confirm my suspicion Ravenna started waving her hands dramatically.
“ Come on my mooncakes, The chat is getting really mean, What have I said about hating on people because of their looks?”
The comments immediately swung to praise her, Ignoring how bad-handed her defense was.
And as for my ever-loving mate.
He said nothing, Just focused on stroking her hair like he was playing an instrument he was entrance with
And One full minute of watching that dotting look play in his eyes Told me all I needed to know ,I called my loyal pack assistant still heaving when I said; "I know it's late but I need you to do something for me,"
"What is it, Luna?"she said fully alert.
"I can't do this anymore,"I breathed out, "I need to disappear, how long will it take you to arrange everything?"
"I'll need no longer than a month luna to get everything in order, will you be able to wait that long?"
I inhaled inside my car, I had endured five years. One month is nothing.
"I can wait Alice, also there's one more thing I need you to do for me,”
POV: ColtI found her in the hallway. She was leaning against the wall, her hands glowing with silver light. Her eyes were closed. Her breathing was shallow. For a moment, I couldn't move. She looked like a stranger.Like someone I had never truly met before."Lyra."Her eyes opened.Silver.Bright. Unnatural. My wolf recoiled inside me.That's not an Omega.I swallowed."Stay back," she said.I stepped closer anyway."What happened in there?"Her expression remained cold."What was that?""I don't know.""Don't lie to me."She pushed herself away from the wall. The glow disappeared from her hands. Her eyes slowly returned to normal."I'm not lying," she said. "I don't understand what's happening to me."I stared at her.Something was different. Her scent had changed. Not completely, but enough that my wolf couldn't settle. He was restless.Confused.Afraid.I reached for her wrist."Then we'll figure it out together."She pulled away immediately."Don't touch me.""Lyra—""I said don
POV: LyraThe pack house was suffocating. We had returned from the cabin two days ago. Colt had insisted. He said the pack needed their Alpha and Luna present. What he really meant was that he wanted to trap me somewhere I could not escape.I sat in the dining hall, surrounded by wolves who whispered behind my back. Their eyes followed me wherever I looked. Their lips curled with judgment.I had spent five years trying to earn their respect. Now I realized I had never needed it.Ravenna sat at the far end of the table, her father beside her.Elder Aldric. The man who had helped steal my assets. The man who had been quietly plotting against me for years. He watched me with cold, calculating eyes.I looked away.Colt sat beside me, his hand resting on my thigh. It was a performance. The doting Alpha. The loving husband. The man who wanted everyone to believe our marriage was perfect. He squeezed my leg gently and leaned closer."Smile," he whispered.I forced my lips into a curve.Insid
POV: LyraI walked until my legs burned. The forest swallowed me whole. Trees stretched toward the sky, their branches weaving together like a cage. I did not care where I was going. I just needed to move. To breathe. To escape. The cabin felt like a prison. Every room held a memory of humiliation. Every corner held Ravenna's laughter.I stopped at a small creek. The water rushed over smooth stones, clear and cold. I sat on a mossy rock and buried my face in my hands. My wolf stirred. She was restless, angry, hungry for release. I felt her claws scrape against the inside of my chest. She wanted out. She wanted to run. She wanted to tear something apart.I pushed her down. Not yet. I was not ready.Footsteps crunched behind me.I tensed. My body prepared to fight."Lyra?"Becca's voice was soft, hesitant. She stepped out from between the trees, her arms wrapped around herself. Her eyes were red. She had been crying.I relaxed slightly."How did you find me?""I followed your scent." Sh
POV: LyraThe couch was torture.Every spring dug into my back. The thin blanket did nothing against the cold. I stared at the ceiling, listening to the sounds of the cabin settling around me.Colt's snores drifted from the bedroom.Ravenna's soft breathing came from the spare room.Everyone else was asleep. Everyone except me.I sat up slowly. My body ached. My heart ached. Everything ached.I walked to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water. The moonlight spilled through the window, painting silver lines across the floor.I heard footsteps behind me.I turned.Colt stood in the doorway, shirtless, his hair messy. His eyes were heavy with sleep. He looked at me, and something crossed his face. Guilt? Longing? I could not tell."You should be sleeping," he said."I should be a lot of things."He walked toward me. His bare feet made no sound on the wooden floor. He stopped inches away. I could feel the heat radiating from his skin."Come back to bed," he said softly."No.""Lyr
POV: ColtI stormed out of the bedroom, my blood boiling. She had shoved me. An Omega. My Luna. She had put her hands on me and shoved me against the wall. The audacity. The sheer disrespect.I paced the cabin's main room, my fists clenched at my sides. Ravenna was on the couch, her legs tucked beneath her. She looked up at me with those wide, innocent eyes."Is she okay?" she asked softly. "I'm so worried about her."I ran my hand through my hair. "She's lost her mind. That's what's wrong with her."Ravenna stood and walked toward me. Her hand found my chest, pressing gently against my racing heart."She's just stressed," she said. "The pack has been demanding so much from her. And you've been working so hard. Maybe she just needs a break."I looked down at her. She was always so understanding. So patient. Why couldn't Lyra be more like her?"Maybe you're right," I muttered.Rake appeared in the doorway, a beer in his hand. "What's the problem now? Another Omega meltdown?"Liliana la
POV: Lyra. The cabin fell quiet after the others left for their run.I sat alone on the porch, staring at the forest where Colt had disappeared with Ravenna. Becca had gone inside to make tea, leaving me with my thoughts. My phone buzzed. It was my lawyer."Luna Lyra, I have uncovered concerning information regarding your mate bond. Please call me when you are alone."My heart raced. I stepped off the porch and walked deep into the trees. Far enough that no one could hear.I dialed. The lawyer's voice was grave. "I reviewed the paperwork you signed with the pack council five years ago. There are irregularities.""Explain," I said."Your mating ceremony contract was altered. The original documents show you were supposed to have equal rights to pack assets. But the version you signed was different. Your name was removed from shared ownership."I felt the world tilt. "Who changed it?""I traced the digital signatures. The modifications came from two sources. Colt's personal server. And R
