Eugene's POV
It's been nearly three hours since Rose and I came down to the banquet. Father stole me from enjoying my evening with her to become acquainted with some new business partners for future business deals. It was good, though, because Rose's mother also stole her away to get acquainted with new people. I assumed that her mother was also introducing Rose to her business partners. Pfft. Now that I think about it, Rose and I are only marrying because it was a business transaction between our parents. I find it amusing to think that we are a business deal between our parents. Yet, I wouldn't have it any other way. Rose is caring, emotional and she can stand her ground when needed. She can also take a joke (if it is decent enough, though), and when I'm teasing her, she teases me with the same amount of tease strength I teased her. Now that I think about it, I won the lotto with R
Today was finally the big day. I slept like a baby after Eugene brought me back to my room last night. So, when I woke up this morning, I was surprised with breakfast in bed by Melissa."Good morning, sister-in-law! Or, well, at least soon to be,"Melissa said as she entered my room high spirited."I can't believe today has finally arrived!"I giggled."Someone is high spirited today.""Well, if you're not, I'll be for you,"she said, putting the tray of food in front of me on the bed."Here you go. I made it myself. Or well, your mot
Eugene's POVI hated leaving Rose in the care of Melissa while I went after Cassidy. I could practically feel the hurt in her eyes while she watched me walk away in the direction the guards took Cassidy. Before opening the doors, I looked over my shoulder to where Melissa and Rose were walking."I'm sorry, Rose. But this has to be taken care of before it gets out of hand,"I whispered to myself. Someday, you'll get the answers you deserve.I sighed and pushed open the doors to see the guards dragging Cassidy out of the building."Guards!"I yelled, running over to them."I'd like
Eugene's POVI watched Rose's sleeping figure as we landed. She looked so peaceful. I felt bad waking her up. I walked over to her seat and crouched down until I was level with her face. I studied her for a bit longer, admiring how innocent she looked. I didn't know how long I stared at her, but the pilot came to inform me that everything was loaded into the limo. I nodded and sighed. Time to wake the monster.I stroked my hands through Rose's hair. This seemed to wake her up as she groaned and looked at me once her eyes opened.I smiled, still combing through her hair."Hello, darling. We landed a couple of minutes ago. Everything has been loaded into the limo, but I felt bad about waking you up earlier."

"Hello, darling! Welcome back. How was the trip? Did you enjoy it, at least?"Mama enveloped me in a hug as soon as Eugene and I walked through the door. After spending two weeks in Sharm El-Sheikh, we had returned home. Needless to say, Eugene spoiled me rotten the entire time. He made sure I felt happy all the time. Giggling, I returned Mama's embrace."Bonjour, Mama. It's good to be back. I enjoyed the trip very much. It was relaxing." Mama parted from our embrace and cupped my cheek."I wouldn't have expected it to be any other way." I smiled at Mama, and her eyes wandered to Eugene next to me.
“Do you have everything you need?”I looked at Eugene, where he stood at the bottom of the stairs as I descended them.“Yes, I believe so. I didn’t really pack for myself. My assistant did most of the packing so, you’ll have to ask her if she forgot to pack anything.”Eugene snickered at my remark.“Well, if your assistant is the one who packed, I don’t believe she would have forgotten something.”I stared daggers at Eugene.“Oh, so that’s how it’s going to be. You would believe my assistant’s words more than my own?”
Eugene’s POVToday would be the first day I would show up as the new CEO at the company. Even though it would be my first day, nothing out of the ordinary would be what I would be responsible for. The countless times I had been here at the company with my father, sitting in meetings and running through business deals and details with him, every work detail had been engraved into my mind.As my assistant pulls up to the company, I receive a message from Cassidy’s father. What does he want now? An apology for what happened at the wedding? I sigh and get out of the car. Apparently, he has been waiting for a while now. I’m not sure how long one can stand idly when the company officially opens for business at 9 o’clock. I look at my watch. It’s ten to nine at the moment. If the old man wants to wait for m
It was 5 in the morning when I boarded the plane. Eugene offered to take me to the airport, but I politely refused him. I told him that Eric would take me. He didn’t seem happy about my answer, but I shrugged off his behaviour. If he thought I wouldn’t be mad because he hired Cassidy at his company, he was dead wrong. I wanted him to suffer a bit about the choice he made. He probably knows this more than I do, but if Cassidy’s behaviour at the wedding was any indication about how their family operates, then there was no end to their schemes. Being Eugene’s secretary was the first step into stepping into the Wright family. And one could only guess what the next step would be.I shuddered. It was the next step in their plan that I resented most of all because Cassidy was stepping on a warpath with me. She wants to draw a wedge between Eugene and me, and once that wedge is there, she would squeeze her way into their family. One way or another, she was going
