The entire drive was 23 hours; we drove 14 before stopping at a hotel on the side of the highway. Koin felt like a brick in the seat weighing the car down. He tried to imagine it. The horror of what Thalia had been through, still a child, her whole family wiped out in a day. How had she made it so far? How had she survived on her own? He held a new reverence for his lost mate. She must be so strong to have survived all of this, so resilient. He knew that she wouldn't be there..and yet still he hoped. Things seemed easier with everyone helping, looking.
