I couldn’t help but wonder what had happened to this island. Everywhere I looked, I found empty houses with all the appliances still intact, old fishing boats, a broken church, rusted vehicles, an abandoned lighthouse, and many other things—but not a single soul. It seemed as though everyone had fled in a hurry and never looked back.

After spending the entire day exploring the island, all the joy I had felt earlier disappeared. Exhausted from everything I had been through, I settled into one of the abandoned houses and fell asleep.

But the little peace I found didn’t last long.

I was jolted awake by the sound of objects being hurled around by the wind.

The island screamed.

The wind howled through the trees like a wounded beast, and every crashing wave sounded as though the ocean itself was trying to tear the land apart. At first, I thought some terrifying creature had awakened. I cautiously stepped toward the window, but a deafening crash stopped me.

A tree branch slammed into the glass, leaving a spiderweb of cracks across the pane.

I stumbled backward, my heart pounding.

One more hit, and the window would shatter.

That was when I realized why the residents had abandoned the island without looking back.

Hurricanes.

For twelve straight hours, I clutched a pillow and sobbed, wondering if this was how my life would end. Those twelve hours were the most terrifying of my life.

When the storm finally passed and I realized I was still alive, another feeling hit me.

Hunger.

The last proper meal I had eaten was the day before my mother died. I had no idea how many days I had spent drifting at sea or how long it had taken me to swim to the island. All I knew was that I was starving.

Thankfully, the house I was staying in still had some food left. Although most of it had expired, I had no choice but to make do with what was available.

Thank God my mother had taught me how to cook before she died. I used to hate cooking, but now it had become one of the reasons I was still alive.

After eating, I realized my phone was still with me.

Hope filled my heart as I tried to call for help.

Unfortunately, the phone had been damaged.

The only number I could call was my emergency contact.

My mother.

The call kept ringing…

But no one answered.

I finally accepted the harsh reality.

If I wanted to stay alive, I had to survive until help found me.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months.

According to the date on my phone, I had already spent three months on the island.

Every day, I wrote SOS in huge letters on the beach, hoping that if an airplane ever flew overhead, someone would notice me.

But no one ever did.

Life on the island was far from easy. Thankfully, I never experienced another hurricane after my first day there.

Whenever the food in one abandoned house ran out, I simply moved to another.

Water became another challenge.

The seawater was undrinkable, so I depended entirely on rainwater. Whenever it rained, I collected as much water as I could and stored it in empty containers.

I also taught myself how to fish.

At first, I couldn’t catch a single one, but with patience and practice, I eventually became quite good at it.

While searching through one of the abandoned houses, I found knitting needles and balls of yarn.

Ironically, I had always hated knitting lessons.

Now, I knitted simply to keep myself from going insane with boredom.

Sometimes I visited the broken church.

At least once a week, I knelt before the cracked altar and whispered,

“Mom… if the dead can truly hear us, please send someone to find me.”

Then one afternoon, as I was returning from the church, I saw smoke rising into the sky.

At first, I thought I had accidentally left my fire burning.

I hurried back to the house I was living in.

Nothing.

The fire was completely out.

Slowly, I turned toward the distant column of smoke.

For the first time since arriving on the island…

I wasn’t alone.

Fear gripped my heart.

Was it another stranded survivor?

Or was it someone far more dangerous?

Stella’s P.O.V.Professor Gregory’s Office“Good morning, sir,” I said.“Good morning. Please, have your seat,” he replied.“Some rumours are flying around about you, and I would like to hear your version of the story because I don’t want to believe the rumours are true,” he said.“Sir, if it is about the pictures on the internet, some of them are partly true. I am the one who stepped out of the car. Someone offered me a ride, and I took it. I don’t expect things to escalate to this point,” I explained.“And who is this someone to you?” Prof. Gregory asked, looking straight into my soul.I went silent.Enzo, you are always good at stirring trouble. How was I supposed to explain who Enzo was?My brother. That would make sense. It was simple, believable, and probably the easiest answer. But was he truly my brother? No.And what if the school decided to dig deeper? What if they discovered that we weren’t related at all?I swallowed.Maybe I should just tell him he was Lux.No.Absolutely

Stella’s P.O.V.“Hop in,” Enzo said as I was about to book a ride to school.“Don’t worry,” I replied.“I’m actually heading to your school area, and this is the one time you’ve been refusing my rides every time. Hope it’s not because you’re being bullied in school,” he said.“Ha-ha-ha.” I chuckled. “You should know that, out of everything, that is the last thing that can happen.”Then he entered the car.“Whether you insist or not, I can just post on my Weibo page that my sis is studying Medicine in X University. It won’t take an hour before my fans fish you out.”“You would not dare,” I replied as I entered the backseat with him.“You know, normal siblings would gist about their school activities with each other, but, humph, it seems like you are made of steel. Don’t tell me you face patients with this kind of face.”…………………Third-Person P.O.V.Sabrina’s ApartmentBoth Sabrina and Celine were scrolling through their phones while Bianca helped them with their assignments.“Bianca, ma

Tiffany/Stella P.O.V.I was walking out of the medical laboratory when I noticed the small crowd gathered near the staircase. At first, I didn’t pay much attention.Students gathered everywhere on campus. Some were discussing lectures, others were comparing notes, and a few were probably already complaining about the next test. But then I heard a girl’s voice.“Say it again.”I slowed down. The voice belonged to Celine. She was standing in front of another girl who looked completely different from her. While Celine was dressed in an expensive-looking outfit with perfectly styled hair, the other girl wore a simple blouse and a faded skirt. She had a backpack clutched tightly against her chest.“I—I didn’t mean anything,” the girl whispered.Celine folded her arms.“Then why did you say it?”“I was only answering the question.”A few people around them laughed.I stopped walking. The girl looked like she wanted the ground to swallow her.“Do you think because you’re the professor’s favo

Tiffany / Stella P.O.V.And just like that, House of Eal was born. Due to Enzo’s influence, it didn’t take long before it became a place where celebrities and dignitaries came for anything fashion-related. We dealt not only in clothes but also in jewelry, shoes, and all kinds of fashion accessories. But the owner of the fashion house remained unknown. In no time, I was also able to get my own apartment, although I still loved staying at Enzo’s place most of the time.…………………The moment I stepped through the university gates, I felt something I hadn’t felt in a very long time.Nervousness.It was strange. I had been a university student before. I knew what lecture halls looked like, how crowded corridors could get, and the familiar sight of students rushing around with bags hanging from their shoulders. But this time felt different.Maybe because I hadn’t been in a classroom for so long. The campus was already alive. Students moved in every direction, some hurrying toward their lecture

The good news is that you now have an identity,” he said, while handing me an identity card with her name oh, I mean, my new name on it. “Stella Teal. The former owner is dead, and she has no relatives. She grew up in an orphanage, so you don’t have anything to worry about,” he said.“So, about the bad news?”“You will not be able to resume medical school this year. I even tried to lobby around, but I think it would be better for you to go through the normal process, sit for the entrance exams, and voilà, you’ll get in. Don’t worry whether your results are good or bad,” he said.“So that’s what you call bad news?” I asked him.“Isn’t it?” he replied.“For future purposes, it is not. Actually, a year’s interval is pretty good for me. I’ll be able to settle down very well before resuming. And thank you. I’ll surely re

Tiffany’s POV“I helped you get some stuff,” Enzo said while placing a paper bag on the table. He continued, “This is a mobile phone. You know how to use it, right?”“Whattttt? For your information, I was once a young, wealthy, and dignified lady.”“Oops, I forgot. I thought you were a lost stray?”“You know what? I’m already stressed by that maniac today. I’m not ready for any more drama,” I said.“And this is a laptop,” he continued. “The old man said you learnt some hacking skills. You should be able to earn some cool cash with that for now.”“Yeah, the old man. Did you hear anything from him?”There was a brief silence before he said with a stern look, “I already contacted him last night and let him know that we’ve gotten back to Athens. He sent a signal. I think he’s fine.”“I hope he is,” I added.“Don’t worry about the old man. Old soldiers don’t die easily,” he said jokingly, returning to his usual self.“Let’s focus on you right now. So, what’s the plan? Do you want to contin
