Amelia’s POV

My heart pounded in my chest, even as the video vanished from the screen and Ethan hurled the phone across the room. It crashed into the wall with a sharp crack, the shards bursting everywhere.

"Dammit!" he shouted, putting a shaking hand through his hair.

I hugged myself, attempting to regulate my breathing, but my mother's face kept flashing before my gaze—gagged, bound, helpless.

"I'm calling security," Ethan declared, already reaching for the landline and punching numbers into it. "We need all the surveillance tapes reviewed. Find out where this video originated. Trace the IP. Get all available recent footage from the warehouses—"

"Ethan,"I gently touched his arm.

He turned to confront me. His jaw was clenched so tightly that I thought he would shatter it. His eyes blazed with cold anger, which I had not seen there before.

"He warned me," I whispered. "He threatened that if I spoke, that if I informed you about it."

“This is not your fault,” he declared immediately, i

Ethan’s POVBy the time I made it back to the penthouse, I smelled like stale coffee and printer ink. Another day wasted in meetings that solved nothing.I expected Amelia to be curled up in bed. Instead, she was in the kitchen wearing one of my shirts, sleeves rolled up past her elbows, humming while she stirred something on the stove. The knot in my shoulders loosened instantly. “Domestic goddess?” I asked, dropping my briefcase by the door. She turned, spoon in hand. “Don’t sound so shocked. Pregnant women still cook.”I walked over, kissed the top of her head, and peeked in the pan. “That’s not cooking, that’s bribery. You’re trying to keep me from ordering takeout again.”The penthouse smelled like garlic and butter. Amelia had insisted on cooking, even though I told her I’d bring takeout.“Sit down,” she said, waving me toward the couch as she pulled a pan off the stove. “You look dead on your feet.”“I’ve been worse,” I said, loosening my tie.She shot me a look. “You’re not im

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 175: she wasn't happy

Ethan’s POVThe ceiling groaned again. A long, tired moan of metal above us, like it was deciding whether to hold or not. Dust drifted onto the marble floor, thin streaks across Sienna’s black dress. She brushed it off and smirked. “Well… if this is it, at least I’m dying pretty.”“Not funny,” I muttered, keeping my eyes on the loose panel above.“You’re right,” she said, stretching her legs out in front of her like she owned the place. “We should talk about serious things. Like how you keep pretending you don’t want me.”I turned to her, incredulous. “Are you seriously doing this right now?”“What? We’re stuck. No phones, no door, no one coming anytime soon.” She tilted her head. “Might as well use the time.”“We’re not using it for that.”She leaned closer, lowering her voice. “Ethan, come on. We’ve always had this pull. Don’t tell me you don’t feel it.”I scoffed. “What I feel is regret every time I have to stand in the same room as you.”“Ouch.” She clutched her chest like I’d st

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 174: Eventually

Ethan’s POVThe private lounge we were meant to eat at smelled like lemon polish and old money at six in the morning. Too early for music, too early for chatter, just the hum of the air vents and the squeak of my shoes on marble.I was running on coffee and nerves. Amelia had still been asleep when I left, her hand curled over her stomach like she was guarding the baby in her dreams. I hated walking out, but there was no way around it.Sienna was already there, leaning against the long bar in the lounge, sipping water like it was champagne.“You’re late,” she said.“It’s six-oh-five,” I answered, tugging off my jacket.“Five minutes late is still late.”I dropped the jacket over a chair. “You sound like Veronica.”She smirked. “She taught me well.”I rolled my shoulders, trying to shake the tension. “Let’s just get this over with.”Sienna walked toward me, heels clicking on the polished floor. She’d dressed sharp, fitted dress that clung too close for a morning practice. Not accident

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele    Chapter 173– Stains

Ethan’s POVSienna raised an eyebrow. She raised an eyebrow at Amelia who shrugged in response. Her eyes went straight to the stain on my sleeve. I tugged it down, but not fast enough.“Is that blood?” she asked again, moving closer to inspect it.“It’s nothing,” I said. “Paper cut.” I lied smoothly. She raised a brow. “You must’ve fought the paper to the death.”Behind me, Marks coughed into his fist like he was choking back a laugh. I shot him a warning look. If he opened his mouth, I’d strangle him myself.Amelia stepped in, her arms crossed tight. “He had a rough day, Sienna. Drop it.”Sienna’s lips curved, not quite a smile. “I only asked a question. No need to get defensive.”Marks muttered, “Defensive is an understatement.”“Marks,” I snapped. “Door. Now.”He gave me this smug salute, like a brat, and strolled toward the exit. “Fine. I’ll leave you to your… company.” He didn’t even try to hide the smirk he shot Amelia on the way out.Once the door shut behind him, Sienna moved

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 172 – Fuck!

Amelia’s POVThe ocean was darker than I thought it would be. No stars, just black water stretching out forever. The waves slapped against the pier like they were angry with us.I guess they had every right to be. We killed someone.Ethan and Marks carried the bundle between them. I followed a few steps behind, arms wrapped around myself, hoodie pulled tight. My legs shook with every step.“Careful,” Ethan muttered.Marks snorted. “It’s not like he cares if we drop him.”“Shut up,” Ethan said. His jaw was tight, sweat shining on his forehead even in the cold.I whispered, “Are you sure about this?”Ethan glanced at me. “You want him in the middle of the living room instead?”I shook my head. My throat was dry. “No. Just—”“Then help us finish it,” Marks cut in. His tone was almost cheerful, like this was some errand instead of dumping a body.We reached the edge of the pier. Ethan and Marks counted to three, then heaved. The splash was loud, heavy, and final. Ripples spread out into

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 171-- Oh no!

Amelia’s POVI had just kicked off my shoes when the buzzer went off. Ethan glanced up from his laptop, frowning.“Who the hell is that at this hour?”I checked the screen. My stomach dropped. “It’s… Dr. Marks.”Ethan groaned. “You’ve got to be kidding me. Again?”“I should let him up.”“Amelia—”“I have to.” My hand was already on the door release. “If I don’t, he’ll just keep coming back.”Minutes later, Marks stepped inside, hair a mess, shirt half untucked, eyes darting like he hadn’t slept in days. He barely looked at Ethan.“You see?” he blurted at me. “Didn’t I warn you? Didn’t I say he’d hurt you?”I crossed my arms. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”He jabbed a finger toward me. “The office. That incident. It’s not. He left you for dead, didn't he?”Ethan stood. “Alright, that’s enough.”Marks waved him off. “You think you can protect her, but you don’t know him like I do. Leo doesn’t stop. He eats people alive.”Ethan stepped forward, jaw tight. “Get out before I thr
