As I sat in my small apartment, my mind consumed with worry, I couldn't help but replay the events of the past few days over and over again.

The news of my termination from the company I had dedicated years of my life to had hit me like a ton of bricks.

The weight of uncertainty and fear bore down on me, especially when I thought about my children and how we would manage without a stable income.

Jake, the company's owner, had approached me with accusations of mishandling funds, a claim I vehemently denied.

I had always been meticulous in my work, and the thought of being blamed for the decline in the company's fortunes was unbearable.

I could see the frustration in Jake's eyes as he confronted me, his voice tinged with disappointment and suspicion.

"Susan, I can't ignore the losses we've been experiencing," he had said, his tone laced with an underlying sense of accusation. "And I find it hard to believe that it's just a coincidence that this decline happened under your watch."
