We continued to discuss what had been found and what it could possibly mean. A cryptic message for the police or something far more sinister? Without linking any pattern, right now they could rule out the worst case scenario but it was still lingering, right there out of reach.

“Mom, now that you know what you do about the murder and the situation, do you think Aurora is in danger?”

She looked over at me with a look that bordered on sympathy before she looked back at her son.

“Honestly, Owen, I can’t say for sure. But right now, I would rather be safe than sorry and both of you consider that it could be a possibility. Aurora, do not go anywhere by yourself right now. Just to be safe. What apartment are you moving into?”

I quickly explained my current living situation and the apartment over the garage that I was working on fixing up so that I could get moved in there.

“I would suggest making sure it stays locked at all times and possibly installing some sort of security system in that a

  • Whispers of the Heart   These Monsters

Owen POV, continuedJealousy is new to me. I never had anyone I cared enough about to be jealous. Now, I want to burn the world down when anyone I know wants her is around her. I can’t be that guy but oh God, how I want to be. It was so satisfying to feel the impact of my fist hitting Phillip Clark’s face. He deserved worse than that but at least I had that moment to replay over and over again in my mind and enjoy every invigorating second of it.And Kyle, well let’s just say those times he bested me before, I didn’t have anything other than a bunch of testosterone to fight over. Now, I am fighting for the other half of my soul so he had better watch himself and not cross any lines. As we switch out the liners and change paint colors to finish her accent wall, I stop and pull her into my arms. I kiss her until we are both breathless and teetering on the edge of need.“What was that for?” She asks, panting heavily as her eyes twinkle with happiness and a hint of desire.“Because I never

  • Whispers of the Heart   She Makes It Easy

Owen POVI wanted to discuss the future with Aurora and so I did. I let her know what I wanted and made sure to include her in all of those plans because deep down, I still felt her doubts. She doubted I loved her as much as she loved me. She doubted she was good enough for me. She doubted a couple as opposite as we were could really make it but I knew better. I knew without a single doubt in my mind that I could never love another woman as much as I loved this red-headed beauty that had stepped into my life and stolen my heart.I have never been a sensitive, emotional guy. Quite the contrary actually. I have, for the greater part of my adolescence and young adulthood, been a pompous ass of epic proportions. I knew girls had massive crushes on me and I would not only shoot them down, I would usually take their fragile self-esteem with me in the process.Something for Gary and I to laugh about later. But it was more than that. It was also the way for me to allow him to have his time in

  • Whispers of the Heart   Owen Marshall, Mr. Fix-It

“How do you know so much about all of this stuff?” I asked him as he hopped down off of the chair to dip the trim pad in the paint again.“What stuff? He asked me with a puzzled look before climbing back on the chair.“Painting, home repair, that kind of stuff. From the looks of your house, I can’t see your Mom and Dad doing their own painting.”“Oh no, they wouldn’t. I would. Dad is hands on with his cars but that’s about the extent of it. The only brushes Mom knows anything about are the ones on her vanity. I guess I owe that to my football coaches, really. The coaches have a summer program where we give back to the community. Each player has to commit to at least forty hours during the summer or they get dropped from the football program.”“That sounds awesome! Do they take other volunteers or is it just football players?”“No, we have other volunteers, too. Most of the cheerleaders volunteer. The basketball players and track and field members are also required. We do some work on t

  • Whispers of the Heart   Meeting Mother Dearest

Making her way toward us is an elegantly dressed woman that I know with one look is Cecilia Marshall, Owen’s mother. Her dark hair is fixed back stylishly with one side having loose tendrils that frame her face. Her tan skin is immaculate without any visible tan lines or flaws and even at her age, her fine lines are minimal. She is without a doubt a very beautiful woman and has been her entire life. She is dressed in an emerald green spaghetti strap gown. The dress appears to be silk. The bosom has a crisscross wrap effect that accentuates her cleavage without being vulgar. The skirt of the dress is asymetrical and flowing, giving it a salsa dancing vibe. She is wearing a diamond tear drop necklace with matching diamond earrings. The jewelry alone looks like it is worth more than Owen’s vehicle. Her ensemble is complete with a pair of high heels that I would break my neck walking in but she pulls it off without a hitch. They are a champagne base but have a mesh see-through effect that

  • Whispers of the Heart   Distracted Mistakes

Owen pulled me from the shower and helped me to dry off after we managed to actually use the shower for the purpose it was intended. He grabbed one of his large, super comfortable cotton t-shirts for me to sleep in along with a pair of his boxer briefs.Every moment out of the shower, I became more sluggish, sleepier. It was like the warm shower accompanied with a strong orgasm was just the combination needed to render me useless until I was able to rest and recharge. Owen helped me blow dry my hair before I pulled it back into a ponytail and followed him out of the bathroom. As we climbed in the bed, it was like the silky soft sheets remembered me and welcomed me home. The mattress hugged every curve and contour like it was designed with only my body in mind. I don’t even think I had time to register anything other than the immense feelings of safety and comfort before I was gone, completely lost in the dream world.Owen and I both managed to sleep, uninterrupted for almost four hours
