Owen brought me back a plate with two slices of pepperoni pizza, a bag of chips, a can of soda and three friends. Courtney, Bethany and Vanessa volunteered to help me since they had time to kill before they were needed on the field. Plus, they wanted to see the shots that I captured and as part of the yearbook staff, help me get everything finished so that I wasn’t overloaded tonight.

Owen pulled me into his arms and gave me a very deep, very sensual kiss before he hugged me close.

“There. I know I will see you again before I take the field but just in case, that should hold me over until I do see you again. I love you.”

“I love you, too. Now, go eat! We can’t have the star quarterback famished because he was running food to his girlfriend! Just in case, good luck. Tell the guys I said ‘good luck’ too.”

Vanessa had taken my plate and drink and set them beside her stuff at one of the tables, forcing me away from the computer long enough to eat. As soon as Owen walked out and shut the d

  • Whispers of the Heart   Pregame Excitement

Owen helped me to find a good place on the sidelines that he thought would be perfect. He assured me that I would not be in the way of any of the players and I should be back far enough from the boundary line. He said if any plays came that way, unless it was just a completely wild throw or dive, I would be safe from any harm.I just knew that being this close to the actual game play, I needed to stay alert, especially if the football or any running players were coming my direction. I didn’t want to take any unnecessary chances since I was holding the very expensive school camera equipment in my hands.Owen had asked me if I wanted him to run back and get a tripod for me but I declined. I wanted to see how this first set of games would go and didn’t want to be restricted with it. I wanted to be able to move around and get pictures of not only the game and the football players, but the cheerleaders and even the crowd. I wanted to capture the entire experience.I figured it would all be

  • Whispers of the Heart   Heading to the Field

“Hey, babe. What are you doing?” I greeted him with a smile as soon as I spotted him walking back toward me again.“I came to help you get all of this down on the field.” He answered as he took the camera bag away from me and slung it over his shoulder. “I help coach the JV so I am gonna be needed on the sidelines anyhow. I will head back to get dressed for our game just before the third quarter starts.”“What will your coaching job be on the sidelines?”“Well, when we are on offense, nothing really. Danny helps coach the defense side. That is the time I plan to sneak over and spend with you.” He said with a smile as he wiggled his eyebrows at me playfully, yet seductively before he was serious again. “But when we are on defense out on the field, I have Jacob, the JV quarterback, under my wing. Basically telling him anything he could have improved on. Gary will also be there working with Asher, their center. Coach wants us to get them ready this year cause they will move up and be the

  • Whispers of the Heart   The Building Anticipation

One by one, photo after photo, the entire football team was introduced. This included first, the Junior Varsity followed by the Varsity team. As much as I loved getting the photographs, I was getting impatient, wanting to finally get a glimpse of Owen. I now understood why the school allowed an entire hour and fifteen minutes for this pep rally. The introductions alone looked to be taking up the first hour. Still, I clicked away. Click, focus and move, click again. Sometimes the players would see me and pose for the camera. Those were shots that would be the money makers, the ones their parents and adoring girlfriends and fangirls would want to purchase.Speaking of fangirls and girlfriends, I managed some amazing shots of Danny when he came out. One in particular that I knew Vanessa would love was of his flexing those massive biceps. I managed to get at least a dozen really good shots of him before the next player was announced and I was forced to move on to them.If these photos tur

  • Whispers of the Heart   Game Day

I wasn’t even upset as the alarm went off, rolling over to shut it off after seeing Owen still beside me in the bed. The first time we had woken up together. The second I had killed the obnoxious sound, he grabbed me around the waist and pulled me back to him and peppered kisses all over my hair and neck until I was nothing but a giggling mess in his arms, begging him to stop so I could breathe. He bit my shoulder playfully before he planted a big kiss on my temple. “I could get used to waking up like this every morning.”“It is kinda nice.” I admitted as I reluctantly pulled myself from his arms and sat up.“Not gonna give me any more snuggle time than that?” Owen asked with a pout in his voice.“I would but where we took our showers last night, I set the alarm a little later than I normally would. It’s seven so we only have an hour to get to school.”“Plenty of time for me.” He answered with a yawn. “Actually, I can sleep another thirty minutes.”“Well, good for you, my love but it

  • Whispers of the Heart   Aftermath

Owen’s love and tenderness didn’t stop in the bedroom. He made sure I was taken care of while we were in the shower, too. He washed my hair, gently massaging my scalp as I stood in his arms. I washed his hair at the same time and there was something so loving, so intimate about it, especially given what we had just shared, that made it feel so special. He lathered up the shower pouf and the smile that crossed his face made me wonder what he was thinking. He must have seen the questioning look on my face as he booped my nose with suds.“The mystery of your peaches and cream scent has been solved.”I giggled and kissed him, sharing the suds back onto the tip of his nose. “I love anything peach scented so my body wash is peach scented but so is my lotion and even my body spray. I hope you like it.”“I love it. Your whole body smells like peaches and you are especially sweet to taste, too.” He replied in a husky whisper that sent a thrilling electric pulse through my body.“Stop that!” I
