“Wait... My friend drives me to work today, her apartment is only 5 blocks from mine” I say. “Alright... like what you said. Bye, love you” Ben says as he hangs up the phone. “Fiuuhhhh…” I inhale deeply as I point my eyes to Lena’s eyes. “Why?” Lena says as she rests her face on my shoulder.

“Are you fucking kidding me, Lena? You kissed my neck when I talked to my boyfriend, seriously?” I state with annoyance on my face. “Hey... I’m sorry” Lena says as she hugs me and kisses my cheeks from the back.

We leave my apartment and drive rush to the office, we haven’t breakfast because we’re late. Lena and I arrive at 8 AM, Lena drops me in front of the office and I walk through the office by myself. I sit on my seat as I lean in relief.

“Hey, Maia, you look happy today, what’s happening?” My dear new friend Riley says as she obviously teasing me. “Nothing happens, Riley. I tried to be happy. What do you want to see every day? My depressed faces” I say in disgust as I roll my eyes. Riley chuckles as she back to her desk.

I write my first article today, my first article is ‘Are You Dating A Manipulative Partner?’ I show Riley my work and she likes it. “Woww… looks you been there!” Riley says as she raises her eyebrow.

“Damn can you please support me besides teasing me?” I say as I roll my eyes. I take my paperwork with me and walk to Lena’s room. I knock on the door and was about to get into her room. “Knock…knock” The door sounds as I knock on the door. “Come in!” Lena says. I get into Lena’s room and sit in front of her.

“So, what's up?” Lena says as she highly raises an eyebrow and leans on the seat. “I’m here for the approval of my first article!” I say as I give her my paperwork. “One sec… I’ll read it first...” Lena says as she takes her glasses from the drawer and puts them on. “You wear glasses?” I say.

“Yeah, it’s kinda hot, right? I look like the dirty secretary at a porn site” Lena raises her eyebrows in boasting. “Are You Dating A Manipulative Partner?” Lena says as she read my paperwork loudly and chuckles.

“Manipulators have the skill to make you feel guilty even when you are not at fault. They will twist the facts to prove themselves right, become assertive, and shift the entire blame on you” Lena raises an eyebrow and stares at me. “Wow, bullshit...bullshit...” Lena says as she puts down my papers on the desk. I stand in dismay and tell nothing.

“I like it…but…Are you talking about someone here? It looks familiar” Lena says as she raises an eyebrow. “I’m not… you think that you’re a manipulative person don’t you?” I say. “I don’t think so!” Lena says.

“Here’s the approval… Good job” Lena says as she gives me the approval papers. “Seriously?” I say as I highly raise my voice. “Yes...” Lena says as she stares at my lips and chuckles. “Thanks, boss!” I say as I leave the room happily.

I finally wrote my first article, the article will be on Purple’s magazine sites this evening and I’m so proud of myself. I sit on my seat and I see Alaia’s name in my notifications bar. I hang up the phone. “Hey...would you like to go lunch with me today considering my office is only 2 blocks from yours?” Alaia says.

“Sure Alaia, we meet at the coffee shop near my workplace, okay?” I say. “See you there honey!” Alaia says. “Bye, Alaia!” I say as I hang up the phone. I pack my stuff and get ready for lunch with Alaia. “Hey Riley... would you like to join me and my friend for lunch today?” I say.

“Nope, I can’t...I have a lot of jobs today and I work overtime” Riley says as she stares at the computer screen and sips the coffee. “Alright, Riley see you soon!” I say as I leave the office and walk to the coffee shop.

 “Hey, sweetie” Alaia says as she hugs me. “Hey! How are you babe, I miss you” I say as I hug her and take a seat. “I’m doing well, I miss you too!” Alaia says. We ordered spaghetti for our lunch and cold coffee. “So how's work?” Alaia says as she chews her food.

“Was great” I say in pleasure. “You look happy today, what’s wrong? You're different! I saw a positive aura in you, that pretty impressive” Alaia says as she raises an eyebrow. “I’m seeing someone!” I say as I heavily inhale.

“What the fuck... Seriously?” Alaia says as she stares at me. “Yes...” I say in dismay. “Who is he?” Alaia says. “Not he but she...” I say as I chew the food. Alaia stares at me in shock “You must be kidding me!” She says.

“No, I’m not I swear!” I say as I highly raise my voice. “So who is she?” Alaia says. “Do you remember the girl that we saw at the coffee shop? The one who looks like Lindsey? I’m with her now. Not officially but It’s happening” I say.

 “Holly shit…” Alaia says as she softly hits the table. “You know Maia... if you’re happy with her, I’ll always be here to support you!” Alaia says. “Thanks, honey!” I say as I raise an eyebrow. Then a couple of minutes after that, I see Lena with someone else in the same coffee shop as us. “Fuck fuck” I mumble.

“What happened?” Alaia says. “Ooh, my goodness holly fucking shit!” Alaia says as she stares at Lena with someone and Lena kisses the girl. Lena breaks my heart, maybe it’s my karma because I cheated on Ben.

 “Are you okay?” Alaia says in dismay as she stares at me. “I’m fine, I need to go” I take my bag and leave the coffee shop in silence. Seeing Lena with someone else literally breaks my heart. That’s the most painful situation I’ve ever had. I walk to the office with a gloomy face.

I lean onto my seat and inhale deeply. I distract myself by doing things and I do my job and it’s time to go home, it’s almost 7 PM. I’m waiting for my Uber in front of the office. Lena comes as she offers me to back home with her. “Hey! Get in” She says as she opens the windshield.

I look away and tell nothing then I get into the Uber. Staring at the windshield and contemplating, I tried to calm myself down and got home. I clean myself and tried to sleep.

“Knock knock” The door sounds like a sign that someone’s pounding my door. I walk downstairs and open the door. That’s Lena, she’s coming. I close the door but she props her legs at the door. “What happened? We haven’t talked today?” Lena says. “Nothing, you need to leave...” I say as I close the door and Lena broke into my house.

 “What the hell happens to you?” Lena says as she keeps asking me the same question. “I saw you at the coffee shop this evening, it’s better for me to back off from you, considering that you had a girlfriend” I mentally want to slap myself due to the fact that I obviously told her how jealous I was.

“Hey... I’m sorry if I upset you... can we talk?” Lena says in a low voice as she holds my hands. “Okay,” I say. Lena and I sit on the couch. “I know that you’re upset with what happened this evening, but you need to know that I do really like you!” Lena says.

“But yeah… this can’t happen. Between you and I... that's confusing” I say as I furrow my brows with teary eyes. “I know...” Lena says as she holds my hands. “Do you love her?” I say. “I’m not, but I like you!” Lena says as she stares at me. “Will I get in trouble?” I say. “No, your idiot” Lena chuckles; I would like to say that I like Lena too but it’s complicated.

I had a boyfriend and she had a girlfriend. “It’s kinda late, if you wanna stay, you can...” I say. “Yeah it’s kinda late but It's okay. I’m fine...” She says as she kisses the palm of my hand and then leaves.
