Chapter Seventy Nine

Adaline Point of View

I stare at the row of houses, the beauty and aesthetics that is New Orleans.

It's been a couple of hours since I saw Zoe, spoke to her. It was bittersweet, more bitter than sweet, because when I woke up, my bestfriend was still dead, and now, I have to live with the realization that Zoe is dead, she'll always be dead.

I keep wishing to wake up from a bad dream, to open my eyes, and see it was all an expensive prank, I keep hoping to wake up from this reality that has merged into hell.

However, I remember Zoe's word, and I love her, miss her more, but at least she was happy, I will forever delight in the fact that she was happy, that is enough for me, and I will carry her with me, till forever ends.

"Hey," I hear, look up to see Ashley, walking down to me.

"Hi." I say, then look back to the busy streets, the French Quarters, Bourbon Street.

"I was told I would find you here." She says, sitting beside me, on the bench.
