Chapter 6

Andrea's Point of View

As I stare at the ceiling my mind, as usual, begins to wander back.

When I got home that morning two months ago my family was excited and wanted to know about my mate. I burst into tears and broke down before I told them everything.

My father and brother were both furious. My mother who even though she was also angry and hurt for my part, stayed calm and composed and she managed to calm down my brother and father and stopped them from doing something rash.

After she managed to calm them down, she wrapped her arms around me, walked me to my room and she held me tightly while I cried myself to sleep.

The first few days were rough, but I managed to successfully avoid Rafeal, which wasn't that hard, he had luckily left for another pack, and things have just started to feel normal again when about a week ago I realized that something is wrong.

At first I thought it was still just stress after the rejection that caused me to miss my period, but then there came more and more signs, signs that I kept denying.

But when I fainted at lunch today, scaring everyone at the table, my mother insisted I take a pregnancy test, and, well... Here we are.

I sigh, shaking my head.

I can't believe this. I should have know better. I can't believe I was so blinded by him and the mate bond.

Now, here I am. Rejected and pregnant with his child. What a cliché, right?

I laugh at myself bitterly, shaking my head.

God.... I was so stupid. But now... I need a plan...

I think with a sigh as I unsubconsiously rub my stomach.

I don't know what to do about Rafael... On the one hand I know I should probably tell him, I mean, technically this baby is the rightfull heir to his pack... But on the other hand... I don't want to talk to him or see him. He hurt me... He rejected me as his mate and luna which means indirectly he also rejected our baby...

No... my baby... Not ours.. I correct myself.

In a few days, we have to start at our local university.

I can't go back to school like this, not when he will be there as well. But what other choice do I have?

We could leave...

My wolf suddenly murmurs and I still... She has been mostly quiet since the rejection and just the thought makes my heart clench slightly.

What do you mean leave?

Exactly that. We leave. We go somewhere else and we never come back. That way we'll never have to see him again, or talk to him...

She says and I frown.

But our family and school...

They can come visit us. And we could try getting into another school. Come on, Andy... Think about it. You've heard through the grapevine that he is supposed to marry that... girl... Do you really want to be around for that? Do you really want to see it and put us and our baby through it?

She asks and my heart squeeze painfully.

You're right. We'll have to leave if I don't want him to find out about the baby and to take care of ourselves... But where would we gou?

Maybe we could go stay with your aunt, Lyla, in her pack? At least until the baby is born?

She suggests and I consider it for a few seconds before slowly nodding my head.

That's actually a really good idea... I'll discuss it with my parents at dinner.

I say. She doesn't respond after that, but suddenly a sense of relief fills me, and before I know it sleep takes me over.

I wake up from the feeling of someone shaking me and I frown, opening my eyes.

I see my mother smiling at me, before gently brushing some hair away from my face.

"How was your nap? I tried knocking but you didn't hear."

She says and I sit up slowly.

I yawn and stretch.

"It was good. I guess I was even more tired than I realized."

I say and she nods her head.

"Good. I'm glad you got some rest. You'll be needing plenty of that from now on."

She says with a gentle smile and once again my hand drifts down to my stomach.

"I guess so..."

I murmur and my mother squeezes my leg.

"Come on, dinner is ready. Your father and brother are already waiting for us and you know how they are."

She says and I nod my head. I quickly get out of bed and we begin to make our way down to the dining hall together.

"Did you tell them about the baby?"

I ask softly, glancing at her and she nods her head.

"Yes, I did."

She says softly, a tight smile on her face and I groan.

"God, you guys must be so disappointed in me."

I say, covering my face with my hands and shaking my head.

My mother shakes her head and stops before she pull me to her chest.

"No, don't even think that. You did absolutely nothing wrong. We understand, he was your mate and everyone gets caught up in the mate bond, it is a normal thing to do. He is the one that did something wrong. So, don't put that on yourself. "

She says and I slowly nod my head before pulling away.

We continue walking down the hall in silence for a few seconds before my mother speaks again.

"Are you going to tell him?"

She asks and I don't pretend to not know who she's talking about.

"No."

I say firmly, shaking my head.

"Andy..."

She begins but I shake my head again and cut her off.

"No. I have thought about this, and I don't think he needs to know."

I say, just as we enter the dining hall.

My mother sighs but before she can say anything my father walks over to us and he pulls me in for a hug.

"I fully agree with her. That little asshole doesn't deserve to know."

My mother frowns, shaking her head but she doesn't say anything.

I look up at my father, giving him a small smile.

"Thank you, dad."

I say and he nods his head.

"Of course, now let's get you something to eat."

He says and I nod my head, letting him lead me to the table.

My mother follows us to the table with the frown still on her face.

We eat in silence for a while before my mother speaks again.

"I understand that you are hurt right now, and you have the right to be... But do you really think not telling him is the right thing to do? How would you feel if the roles were reversed?"

She asks softly and I frown at her.

"Mom... It's been two months... He hasn't reached out once. He knows we didn't use protection, he knows this could be a possibility and still, he clearly doesn't care. Why should I?"

I ask and she sighs.

"Fine, but how long do you think we will be able to hide it? You are going to start showing soon, and he'll figure it out."

She says as I take a bite of chicken.

Well, I have been wondering how to bring it up, what better opportunity could I get than this?

I slowly finish chewing before taking a deep breath.

"Well, I actually have an idea.. What if I go stay with Aunt Lyla?"

My family stares at me for a few seconds and then my father opens his mouth to speak, but I quickly continue before he has a chance to.

"Before you say anything, just think about it. This way I won't run into him or his chosen at school or around the territories. It won't be forever. Just at least until I'm done with university and I've healed a little."

I quickly say and for a few minutes my parents once again just stare at me from across the table.

"What's wrong? Don't you think it could work?"

I ask, and my dad hesitates for a second before he shakes his head.

"No, it's a good idea, and it will work... but... it's just.."

He trails off, unable to find the right words and he looks at my mother for help.

She gives me a small smile before speaking.

"I think what your father is trying to day is that we're just worried about you. If you do this. you'll be going through all of this alone. And I know your aunt will be there, and she'll help you.. But we don't want you doing this without us there to support and help you."

She says softly and my throat tightens.

I give them a small smile.

"I'll be fine, I promise. I'll call you everyday and you can come visit. But I need to do this."

I say softly.

Harvey who has been quiet so far looks at our father.

"I think you should let her go. It will be good for her and the baby if she isn't here where she can see both of them."

He says and I give him a thankful smile that he returns with one of his own.

I look back at my father.

"Please, dad?"

My father looks at me for a few seconds before he sighs, but he nods his head.

"Fine...You're mother and I will think about it and talk to your aunt first, before we decide anything."

He says and I can't help but smile at him as I feel excitement bubbling up in me.

"Thank you!"

I say and they nod their heads.

"Now, eat your food."

My mother says and I quickly nod my head before I happily dig into my food again

The thought of moving gives me a boost of energy and I feel a deep sense of relief about moving someplace where I won't have the urge to go see him, or where I can accidentally run into him.

This is exactly what we need... A fresh start...

I slowly move my hand down to my stomach, rubbing it gently.

We'll be okay baby... It's you and me against the world.
