100. Patience

I sat on the edge of my bed, or what used to be my bed. My room hadn’t been touched by the attack on the house. Between all of us, the whole house was empty now. I’d gone the extra mile in taking out the kitchen tile since I didn’t think I needed to have another moment looking at it.

The floor creaked and I looked up to see Caspian leaning against the doorframe. He was the only one left now. It was getting dark, but the fire was still active outside. It probably wasn’t good for the environment with all that we were burning, but it felt good. Nothing was left but this room.

“Did you not want to get rid of this stuff?”

Sighing, I shrugged. “None of this did me wrong. It kept me sane. Kept me safe to some extent.”

“Maybe donate it?”

“Yeah. Maybe.” I frowned. “Did you want to stay here? Instead of the hotel? It would cost less.”

Caspian stepped into the room and sat next to me on the bed. “It’s up to you. I can go either way. We will need to at least have dinner here. The fire needs to go

    I've had some time to step back and take a break for a moment and honestly, I am so happy with how Winter turned out. After throwing out chapter after chapter, it felt like I was losing the strings one by one. I just managed to somehow hold onto one and fly with it.Thank you to everyone who supported me through the chapter updates. All of you are probably the reason why I didn't give up.     *** Caspian’s POV *** I winced as I heard a bottle shatter in the kitchen. Standing up from my lean, I looked out through the glass door. Shaking my head, I slipped the parchment paper in between the pages of the book I was currently translating.
