Institution

If someone watched from the highest place in Austin City , he could watch a young man running in the rain. Although the rain soaked his clothes and he could catch a cold, it seemed that he did not care. 

Under the stormy rain, a bright smile could be seen hanging from the young man's mouth. This young man was Allen.

He entered the house using his card and went to the main room without pause. There, he saw a girl of about 14 years sitting on the couch, watching something on her digital watch intently.

He could not help but smile and call her "Elena, I'm home." The young girl called Elena raised her head, and seeing him, she became very happy. She said, "Brother, you seem very happy. Did you pass the test?"

Allen said nothing, but simply nodded his head and extended his arms. Elena jumped into her brother's arms and gave him a hug and said to her brother "I knew you could do it easily brother!" 

Allen smiled at her answer and asked "So, what is my reward?" Elena kissed her brother on his cheek and asked: "Well?". Allen smiled and dropped her.

Allen said to his sister: "Elena, now you do not need to be reserved about what you want and just tell me, the institute gives a good salary, so you do not have to be mindful of anything." 

Allen looked at his sister and felt very sorry, ever since his parents died and left little to no money, their future prospects became worrisome. His sister was also intelligent and did not ask for anything and even her clothes were so old that they seemed small for her age.

He tried to buy her things by overworking, but she never accepted them and always found an excuse to reject them.Elena said to her brother: "Okay brother, please order takeout today." The brother said to his sister "As you wish". 

After they had eaten, Allen spent the rest of the day with Elena to make up for the time he could not spend with her due to the hectic activities of the previous few days. After Elena fell asleep, he left the house and saw that the rain had stopped.

After seeing his sister so happy today, the flame of ambition burned inside him again. He vowed to himself to work hard and rise up in the ranks of the institution to improve their living conditions. Little did he know that his priorities would be something else soon.

In a place far from the ordinary house. A middle aged man wearing nice and clean clothes was talking to an old man whose hair had more white hair than black hair. This old man was the same person as the head examiner of the institute test.

"Old Steven, have the newly recruited people been screened?"

" Yes, sir Charles, it has been done. The newly recruited are geniuses from common people with no background. And you don't really need to call me old when you talk to me. You are now old yourself!" Steven said.

"Well, let it be. I am accustomed to that. And you have asked that too many times." 

"And you have ignored it that many times." Old Steven replied with a small sigh.

"More importantly, how's the genetic research coming along?I was reported that it is close to achieving good success but I have not seen any concrete results yet. Investors are also losing confidence because even with the advanced technology, genetic research is a tacky problem. And if it was not for our reputation they would have withdrawn already. I have already solved your problem of shortage of personnel. And it wouldn't hurt to get some results now. I am leaving the rest to you. If you have any further problem you can come but with some results otherwise.."

"Yes, yes, your old servant would gladly oblige"

"So you can call yourself old now but won't let me..."

Steven didn't dare reply to the joke and stayed silernt. He understood sir Charles well. He was very angry right now. This had been his passion project since he was a teenager, unlike many other teenagers whose priorities were something... different.

He had allocated most of resources of the institute into this project and there was still not any real result so far.

Charles said waving his hands"You may leave now."

Old Steven took the hint and bowed slightly and didn't say anything but left the room.

Charles sighed as he talked to himself "Was I too cold to him?" He thought 'How much I need to wait before achieving your dreams, grandfather'.

Charles looked outside the place consoling himself, silently watching the surroundings that he had seen many times.

In the morning, bright sunlight penetrated the place where Allen slept, making him awake even though he was unwilling.

Thinking back to his new duties now, the thought of the new project occupied his mind. "Come to think of it, why there's been no advancement till now?' Then he remembered reading something related in the institute's history. The institution might really have made a breakthrough but for some reason whenever the project was close to achieving something, it was always shut down. And it was already the third attempt at it.

Allen was only concerned about it now because he was previously content with just being a member of the institute. Now, he wants to rise through the ranks and provide his sister with the best he can.

As Allen was thinking about how he should do that, he heard a soft knock on the door
