Jacob I jolted awake in my bed with my phone already in my hand. My alarm went off, telling me that it was morning, so I quickly turned it off and relaxed a little. I looked to make sure I was up for work on time and noticed that I had a text from Maggie. I unlocked my phone and went to her messages. I looked at the time stamp and saw that it was from late last night. Maggie had texted me super late. I looked to see that she was telling me goodnight and I felt bad that I wasn’t awake to respond. I texted her back saying, "sorry, I passed out on you. Good morning." I got up and got dressed for the day in blue jeans and a black T-shirt as usual. I moved to the kitchen and started the coffee pot, then made my breakfast. Once the coffee pot was finished, I made my cup and took a sip before humming at the feeling of sunshine going down my throat and into my stomach to wake my body for the day. I finished making my breakfast and loaded my plate before sitting at the bar in the
Maggie I was done with everything that I needed to do today and was bored as hell. I cleaned the house and organized my closet before running some errands around the pack town. Here at Sandstone, we had our own little grocery store and we needed a few things from there. Normally, after getting chores done, I would sit and read in the nook in my room, but I was too restless to do that today. I grabbed my latest reading material and sighed while looking at the cover. It was a great book, but I just wasn’t feeling it today. I set it back down and looked out my window, longing to be that brave woman and just run off. I sat in the nook and opened the window to let the breeze blow into my face as I thought about Jacob. Messaging him and learning about him these past few days has been great. Though just the texts and phone calls weren’t enough for either of us. We both wanted and needed more. He wanted to see me again and I wanted that too. I knew that he was currently at
Jacob When one of the warriors mind-linked me that Maggie was at the east fence of Wolfe Ranch looking for me, I could hardly believe it. I had learned through our conversations so far that she was a goody-two-shoes, so her going against Bennett’s wishes just to see me was a surprise. I might be surprised by her, but damn, I was happy. I rode out there quickly and got her on the back of Roscoe with me. With her arms wrapped around me, I smiled at the new sense of peace. It was so amazing and something so new to have a she-wolf to call my own and to have her with me at the moment. When we got to the farmhouse, I had her get off Roscoe first, then I dismounted. I tied him to the hitching post with mom, dad, and Ivy’s horses before I took Maggie's hand in mine. The contact of our skin put a smile on my face and warmed my heart. It was incredible to feel sparks and warmth from a touch when I had never experienced that anywhere else. I was going to become addicted to this feeli
Ivy After having lunch with everyone and meeting Maggie, I jumped into my truck that was at the guest house and left for Juniper Moon. As I got closer to the front gate of the property, I texted Torin to let him know that I was here. I got to the gates and rolled my window down to talk to the guards. They recognized me right away, smiled, and opened the gates. I drove through and got a text from Torin telling me to meet him at the packhouse. I drove up to the large barn-like building, found his truck, and parked next to it. I turned my truck off and got out before I started to walk toward the packhouse. I stepped up onto the porch just as the door opened and Torin stepped out. He grinned at me and left the door wide open as he walked towards me. I smiled up at him right before he dipped down to kiss my lips in greeting. I didn’t shy away from him and eagerly touched my lips to his. The kiss was sweet and tender as he pressed his lips to mine and inhaled my scent. Torin d
Maverick I was sitting at the table in the dining room of the fully furnished house we rented. It was dark outside but the house was busy with movement. I was drinking some water because I knew I needed it and couldn't live on just beer and coffee. Damn shame though, because those were my favorite things to drink. Last night we were successful at Wolfe Ranch with our little heist. We had taken six really good cows that we could tell were bred and a breeding stud that was probably worth a little money. I would probably keep him since he had a gentle temperament and knew how to cut cattle. With that knowledge, why would I sell him for a little money when I could use him to get more cattle? As I sat in the dining room thinking, I listened to Klassen making dinner for us all. It was a rare treat when one of the guys wanted to cook. Most of the time, we ate out because cooking wasn’t our strong suit. I would never turn down a homemade meal. I couldn’t cook for a damn so I nev
Jacob It was the weekend and we had no answers to the whirlwind of questions we had about the recent thefts. No one had come forward with any new information, and no one had been caught, but we were told about someone else's ranch missing cattle not that far from us. Whoever this was, they were hitting all the ranches close by. I just needed some type of break or a lead to catch them. To get everyone's mind off all the bullshit, we decided to have a family cookout today. Dad would be smoking a brisket while mom handled all the side dishes in the house. Ivy invited Torin over and I invited Maggie to sneak onto Medicine Rock. The thrill of sneaking around with her behind Bennett’s back was amazing, but not nearly as amazing as being with her. It was mid-morning and Maggie messaged me while she was at work. She had a short shift at the diner in town today and would be off by lunch. She would be headed here instead of going home to Sandstone, and I had to keep myself from ge
Ivy I went to my house on Medicine Rock with Torin, Briar, and Jacob after the cookout with my parents. I packed my clothes, the things that I wanted, and the things that I needed with the guys. We had everything packed and in my truck in a flash because I had already been packing for the past two days. When everything was done, I handed the house key over to Briar. “I don’t need anything else from here, so the next pack member that turns eighteen can have it,” I told him. “Sounds good,” he told me with a sweet smile. Torin shook Briar and Jacob’s hands as he said, “don’t worry about her too much. I’ll keep an eye on her.” Jacob smiled and nodded his head before telling him, “keep yourself out of trouble.” Torin said, “of course.” Torin turned to me and kissed my lips before he got into his truck. I hugged both of my brothers before talking to them in private. “I’ll still be working at the ranch every day,” I told them, so they knew they could come s
Jacob It was three o'clock in the afternoon and I was at home waiting for Maggie to get off work. After she was done at the diner, it would be another twenty minutes before she was here at Medicine Rock. I couldn't wait to see her again. With all my nervous yet excited energy, I got up off the couch and started cleaning the damn kitchen to distract myself. I had already cleaned the dining area and the rest of the house. This was the last place I still needed to clean. My laundry will be done in the dryer soon. I didn't realize I had accumulated so many dirty clothes in a week. Or was it two? As I cleaned, my phone went off on the bar counter and I grabbed it to see what she said. I read the message and she told me that she was on her way. I smiled like a love-struck fool as I looked at my phone before setting it back down. I kept cleaning the house until I saw her car pull up next to my truck. I left the house and walked out to meet her. Maggie greeted me with a br
