Groaning in pain, Lily opened her eyes. Bright light shone through the open curtains.

“God, how bad,” she whispered, and grimaced at the even greater pain that hit her temples and the back of her head. I tried to sit up, but every movement made me feel sick. “Mom,” she called softly, “mom.”
