Chapter Two

Abdul-Dayyan and Munawarrah

Their marriage had been a short one in which he had blackmailed her into.

"Uhmm ma'am, there is someone here to see you." Khairatu had come into her office to announce.

"Does the person have an appointment?" She asked without looking up from her computer.

"No ma."

"Then send them away."

"It's Sir Abdul-Dayyan." The girl said and Munawarrah finally raised her head and a coy smile enveloped her face.

"Send him in at once!"

Sir Abdul-Dayyan wasn't just brilliancy, he was also handsome with his well trimmed beard he stood above six feet.

"To what do I owe this unexpected visit?" She asked with a simple as she stood up showing her beautiful features, her atampa had been sown into a tight fitting gown that didn't fail to display her curves that she had been generously endowed with.

He smiled at her with a glint of mischievousness in his eyes, "The great Munawarrah Osman Abdel-Jabar, even more beautiful than have been described. Please to make your acquaintance milady." And he bowed, her laughter rang through the room and it was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard.

"Please sit." She pointed at the couch behind him and he settled himself on it, watching her in awe. This was the first time he was meeting her in person, she had sought his presence numerous of times but he had intentionally denied her it.

"What should I offer you? Absinthe or if you'd like champagne?"

"Aah, I didn't know you drink?"

"I don't but they usually come in handy for when I have the rich and mighty to please." She said a smile alluring her beautiful features and Abdul-Dayyan swooned more.

"Well, I'm just a simple man, so I'd settle with coke."

"Perfect." She brought out a plastic bottle of coca-cola from her fridge, and took a glass cup from a nearby tray. She dropped it on the table and served him before going over to sit opposite him.

"So after numerous attempts at me seeking your presence, you've decided to grace me with yours." She added with a fake smile, inside she was fuming and a catastrophe of hatred. When she was done with him, he won't be anything next to her.

"No comments." He said with a small laughter.

"So may I know why you wanted to see me."

"Purely business." She said as she walked over to her desk and carried a file from it, she came back and dropped it on the table in front of him.

Taking a sip from his glass, he nodded his head at the file, "what is this?"

"Open it." She said with a smile, he picked it up and began flipping through its pages.

"That is the financial statement of Aaima pharmaceuticals, as you can see there it also state how much the scientists working for us are paid. The six most brilliant scientists of this company are paid three million annually."

She rested her back on the couch and continued, "Aaima pharmaceuticals over the years have gained recognition worldwide and I'm proud to say it's the best in Africa and well recognized abroad with foreign investors. I started Aaima pharmaceuticals with basically nothing, but look at where we are today, imagine what will happen if we had the best scientist in Africa working for us. We'd be making a lot of money from the cure we'd be producing."

She smiled as she noticed him listening to her with rapt attention.

"So you want me to work under Aaima pharmaceuticals?"

"If you'd consider my offer, I promise you the best working condition, a lab fit for a great scientist like yourself, we'll cover the health insurance of your wife and daughter, we'd cover her tuition fees and we'd pay you any amount of your choice as your salary."

Abdul-Dayyan couldn't lie, the offer was very tempting, the best offer he had ever received but that wasn't what he wanted.

"Very tempting I must say."

"You're under no obligation to give me an answer, take as much time as you need for I know it won't be easy for a man that has worked alone to suddenly start working under a company. But at Aaima pharmaceuticals, we seek to give you nothing short but the best." Her speech flowed eloquently and he couldn't deny the fact that she was a great businesswoman, no wonder she stood at her position among the fifty most influential women in the world.

"Very well then, I will work with this company under one condition."

She smiled, that had been easy, "Whatever you want."

"Don't be too quick Miss Munawarrah." He pronounced her name so beautifully.

"Very well then, may I know what your condition is?"

"Marry me! Marry me and I'd stop at nothing to make Aaima pharmaceuticals the best in the world."

Her breath hitched in her throat, she hadn't expected that, she had thought the man was going to ask her to be his mistress, that she wouldn't have mind, she had been the mistress of some men to land her where she was and she was the mistress of the vice president of the country so him proposing marriage to her came as a shock that she was speechless for few seconds.

"What?" She asked her brown eyes widened in shock.

Abdul-Dayyan shrugged, but that had been a bold move. The moment he had walked in and had caught sight of he knew he wanted nothing more than to make her his, his and no one else.

Their marriage was held two weeks later at a mosque where an elder in the mosque had acted as her wali.

"Where should we spend our wedding night?" He asked her as soon as they settled at her home.

"I'd like to inform you that this marriage is based under contract." She said through her teeth.

"Oh yes the contract your lawyer devised, I'm yet to sign it you know."

"Yes and I'd like to know why?"

"No time." He excused himself and went to his car, he came back with a sheet in hand and a pen on the other. He sat down and began to read it.

"I don't like this " He said frowning.

"What is it?" She snapped.

"It states here that I'm to be working under Aaima pharmaceuticals and to be paid two million annually."

"Yes! Isn't that what you asked for?" She was fuming.

"Calm down Munawarrah, I'd like you to call your lawyer and ask him to change the terms of this contract."

"Based on what?" Who did he think he was?

"I will keep working for Aaima pharmaceuticals as long as we're married, the moment we divorce that terminates the contract."

"Well that won't be too long." She murmured.

"It'd be in our best interest if you repeated that, I didn't quite catch your words."

"I said fine." She was seething at this point and felt like grabbing his neck and wringing it till he dropped dead.

"And also it doesn't matter who divorces who, the contract is terminated as soon as the marriage is. When all this have been added to the contract, then and only then will I sign it."

"Die! Die and end up in hell you stupid bastard" She flung a vase at him and he dodged with ease, was it perverted to say he was getting turned on dodging as she hauled more stuffs at him? Probably was.

In as much as she hated the man and his arrogant nature that beat hers, she couldn't deny the fact that his presence in her company was catalytic. They had a lot of investors and many people willing to buy shares in the company, this was going to be big.

Abdul-Dayyan Mohammad who had never worked under any company before all of a sudden has started working with Aaima pharmaceuticals, it wasn't surprising that it became news.

Aliyu Umar hated Abdul-Dayyan for a lot of reasons, but the most prominent being he was Munawarrah's husband and the fact that the man was treated like a golden hawk and given sackfuls of respect. He was just a scientist, but Aliyu deep in him knew he wasn't just a scientist, he was a genius.

His brilliancy wasn't exaggerated, Aliyu had been at his lab once and saw the cure he was working on.

"Using avertin as a mice anaesthesia has proven to have serious side effects and I can't go through with it."

"What's needed for it's preparation?" Aliyu blurted his question, his curious side coming out.

The man didn't bat an eyelash neither did he look up from his work, "2,2,2 tribomethanol, tert amyl alcohol... Yes!"

"Yes what?" Aliyu asked confused.

"I got it." And the man had plunged into his work, going about to get his chemicals and not once did he spare Aliyu a glance.

"You could use chlorine as a catalyst you know." Aliyu advised while watching the experiment.

"Not needed." The man said and Aliyu could swear he wasn't just talking about his suggestion, so he quietly exited the lab without another word.

Abdul-Dayyan worked till 11pm he finally left the lab and drove to Munawarrah's.

The securities let him in without hassle, he had a room on thesame floor as she did, he didn't expect she'd be awake but when he saw her office door slightly ajar and the lights illuminated from inside peeked out he thought otherwise.

He strode over there, and with a slight push he widened the door and entered, she raised her head from her computer on which she had been typing on, her eyes were bloodshot and her hair disheveled.

"You're awake."

"You're late, that's a first." She said continuing her work. They had settled on him staying in Kaduna from Monday to Friday before he leaves to Abuja on Friday evening where his wife and daughter Rumaysa were based.

"You were waiting for me?" He asked his heart beating faster.

She shrugged nonchalantly, "I thought it was wierd you weren't back yet."

"So aren't you going to bed yet?" He asked letting his hands sink deeper into his pocket.

"No, I'm not done."

"What are you working on?"He went and stood behind her to get a better view of what she was doing, he was shocked at what he saw on the screen. He bent down to get a better view, it seemed she was studying, she was reading on animal biology.

Munawarrah's breath hitched as she caught whiff of his male cologne as he bent to peer into her computer, her heart was beating faster and she didn't realize when she had placed her palms on his cheek and turned his face to look at hers. He was staring at her like she was a gorgeous piece of art, she crashed her lips against his and the ferocious burning and the brimming chemistry between them seemed to spark as he deepened the kiss, his soft lips nibbling on hers.

She gave a yelp as he suddenly carried her, he chuckled. She wrapped her legs around him as they continued to kiss, she barely realized they were moving till she felt him softly drop her on a bed. She opened her eyes and noticed they were in his bedroom, she was breathing faster now as she saw him removed his black T-shirt.

His lips were back nibbling on her ear and whispering the words of a sweet lover and slowly they both lose pieces of their clothing. He laid her on the bed and began to kiss her, they spent the night in each other's embrace, consummating their marriage and in a deep form of ecstasy.
