Getting Fired

Jenny's POV

Working at The Family Restaurant has been hell. All I do is always wrong. I am always late. I am always leaving too early. Lastly I am always doing the cooking wrong. I am only doing what I am told to do. I smile when I look up at my dad.

"Is this how you want me to do it, Dad?"

He shakes his head from side to side as I flip the egg over, making it an over easy. The whole time he is staring at the egg, which has now flopped and made it's yolk cook through.

"No, that is not how you do it. In fact, daughter, you could never cook. I think you need to start looking for other jobs." He taps his chin as he looks at my work. "You have two weeks to find a new job and a new place to live." He shakes his head from side to side as he adds, "You would be better off just getting married to whomever will take you."

My jaw drops as I look at him. "What the actual fuck, Dad? I thought you wanted me to take over this place!"

He looks condesendingly down at my tattoos. "That was before you decorated your arms like a damn junky."

I smile as I look at my tattoos. They help me see who I am, who I really want to be. "Well then, I guess I better start looking."

My dad nods and lets me get back to work. I spend the rest of the day working, making my dollar count. After work, I go and get more tattoos. The way Dad talked about them I just knew I needed more. Did I go looking for work? No. Did I even think about getting an apartment? Also no.

Two weeks pass and before I know it I am still jobless and homeless. I sit my ass down at the local library computer and start to searching. I find a website that seems legit. I look up all the jobs that could start today, finding more than one hundred. Why didn't I look sooner?

I keep scrolling until I get to the maid section. I have always excelled at cleaning. Looking at the ads I can't help but notice they are all very suggestive. I don't want to whore myself out, I just want to clean houses. I find one that sounds like a good one. I click on it and accept the job.

Not having a phone or internet I use the libraries wifi to recieve the call at the dummy number I gave to the job. What I don't expect is the voice on the other end. His voice is deep and dreamy. I can't get over how much I want to jump his voice.

As soon as I get over the urge to jump his voice, I clear my throat and start to talk, answering him. "I would love to accept the job."

I can hear a chuckle in the background, just like his but maybe it's just an echo. "You don't even know us. Would you like to at least interview first?"

I giggle as I look at my phone. "Is now a good time to interview?"

The deep voice enchants me as he says, "Yeah, now is great. Where can we meet you?"

I look at the phone. I was expecting them to have me come out to them, not the other way around. "I... Well, you see... I am at the library. I don't have a home, a phone, or internet. I have a phone that takes wifi, that's all."

I hear a note of concern as the man on the other end grunts, "So you really need this job, huh sweetie?"

I nod, knowing he can't see me. "Yeah, I really need a job. I liked how much your posting offered and the fact that it covered room and board." I clear my throat. "So, I am here and waiting for your interview. I'm the red-head in the white tanktop with tattoos covering my arms."

Another grunt, this time it sounds more interested than concerned. "We will be there within the next half an hour."

They hang up and I look at my phone. What did I just do?
