It's been over a month she got back to Kano, work hadn't been the same with Aisha's presence - she was a pest in human form always making sure she heckled her at any chance she got.
The constant glares and mockery she got from her got on Ben's nerves daily - she was certain she had a motive in the office but it was indecipherable.
Reporting to Roshan would only escalate things since his parents sent Aisha to work for him for a reason - she knew they would have her back.
She walked into Roshan's office and there, Aisha was seated on a chair with her legs crossed, she barely wore a hijab even though she claimed to be a Muslim.
Aisha turned to face Ben and immediately she spoke. "Courtesy demands you knock at the door before barging in." She told Ben with a Sly smile on her face.
Ben ignored her and went to where Roshan was seated. "Sir, I need more papers to type on. We've run out of stationeries
"Thanks for coming." She muttered as she sat close to him. "And welcome here, this is the first time you'd be entering into my apartment. " She smiled. "What should I offer you?" She asked."Nothing." He retorted. "Your apartment is beautiful and portable." He said as his eyes roam the small living room. "Can you get me something eatable?" He changed his mind when she shot him a glare."Something like what?" She asked again, almost regretting why she asked him what to offer - she wasn't ready to cook yet, but she'd cook anyway if he demanded for food."You always ask if I've eaten or not." He smiled sheepishly. "I haven't had anything to eat since yesterday cos I was anticipating today, I want to eat in your house." He said."What do you want to eat?" She asked."Anything you make for me, beautiful." He replied."You have to choose, Roshan." She smiled shyly.
Aisha walked into Ben's office. That was how she always barged in claiming she was there to see Roshan. As usual, she didn't greet Ben, she just walked towards Roshan's office. She turned back when she was almost at the doorpost."Hey Ben." She feigned a smile, Ben could read it wasn't genuine. She shook her head and continued with the work on her table."I know you won't give me a reply." Aisha said. "Just passing by and decided to ignore you but I changed my mind and here I am greeting you as politely as I can but you're ignoring me, damn!" She slammed her hand on the table angrily."I didn't beg for your greetings, you decided to greet me and I've not decided if I should answer you or not." Ben told her."So, you have to decide that too?" She looked at Ben scornfully."Very well." She raised her head up to look at Aisha. "Any other thing?" She raised her eyebrows i
Toba was in front of Abdullah Holding waiting patiently for Ben to close from work, he didn't tell her he was coming but somehow he felt she'd be excited to see him.She just closed from work, leaving Roshan behind, she walked slowly towards the gate. Hoping to get a cab when she gets to the garage. She greeted the gatemen that bothered to acknowledge her, she stepped out of the gate and immediately recognized Toba's car, she looked closely and saw him leaning beside the car."Oh my God!" She screamed and ran to where he was standing. "Toba!" She yelled his name happily."Big baby." He pulled her into a bear hug. "How have you been?" He asked."Been good, what happened? No calls, no texts, I thought you forgot about me." She told him."You did but I didn't." He rolled the car keys in his hands. "I traveled, I've not been in the country. Just got back two days ago and I dec
She stood in front of the mirror in her room and ruffled her hair, they didn't end up together even after all the promises. It wasn't her fault, he wanted what she wasn't ready to give. She had followed Annie to her doorstep that day and had taken a cursory glance at her cousin who was lying on the couch, he was the one! The same Daniel she knew. She bid Annie goodbye and went back to her room. She sat on one of the couches. "What will he do if he sees me?" She asked herself. They broke up cos the relationship wasn't working anymore, he was her first kiss, first and only boyfriend in the uni, she loved him dearly, they shared everything together. She picked her phone and dialed her best friend's number, she picked up at the second ring."Esther." Ben called softly."What's wrong?" She noticed the flatness in her voice."Daniel is Annie's cousin.
Sitting on the pavement and catching up on the lost moments in their lives was something Ben didn't plan to do anything soon but it was unavoidable in a situation like this. She had to give him time cos of old time's sake."How have you been after all these years?" He asked with a bright smile on his face."Very well and you?" She retorted."Been coping, were you posted here for NYSC?" He asked."Yes, I was." She replied him."And how has it been so far?" He asked again, Ben was getting bored already. The incessant questions he was asking was getting on her nerves. Can he just find something reasonable to talk about?"Been beautiful." She answered."Just like you." He smiled. Was he trying to flirt with her?"Annie told me about her cousin that was coming to stay with her
Daniel resumed work at Abdullah Holdings on Monday morning, he resumed firstly to the director's office, Roshan provided some documents for him to sign, he did and became a certified staff member. As Daniel was inside with Roshan, Ben sat thoughtfully on her chair. How did Daniel ever got to know about the company? Was it fate that brought them together again and if yes, for what purpose exactly? The questions that ran through her mind as she placed a hand on her chin and stared into space. She hoped he doesn't get clingy in the office too.Daniel startled her by touching her shoulder lightly, she just thought of that."Can you stop getting clingy every time Daniel?" She begged. "If you want to talk to me, call my name!" She stated angrily"I called your name but you were deep in thoughts." He smiled at her."You can leave now." She said sternly."Yo
Traveling from Ekiti state down to Kano wasn't a friendly journey at all. It was tiring, butt-hurting and energy-consuming.Esther almost knelt down to give thanks when the bus finally arrived at bus stop in Kano. She hurried out of the car to stretch her already stiffened legs."This journey no be here." She whispered to the other passengers that were looking as tired as she was."Wallah." One of them whispered back. The driver sorted the luggage of each passenger. After everything was set down, the few ones that got acquainted with each other exchanged contacts and they dispersed afterwards.Esther picked her luggage and found a pole to lean on, she got one. She brought her sunglasses out and wore it on her eyes, the sun was blinding. She rummaged her bag to search for her phone, she brought it out and placed a call to the number Ben gave her to call on when she was in Kano.
Having Esther around in the house made everything easier for Ben, she no longer have to wake up so early to prepare breakfast before going to work in the morning. Esther always did that now.And Ben would spend hours sleeping, she only got out of bed when it was about an hour to her working hours."Morning Bes." Ben went into kitchen to get a cup of water to drink."Hope you slept well?" Esther asked."Sure, you?" Ben retorted."I did too." Esther smiled. "I already prepared breakfast, go have a bath and come eat." She instructed."Can't I just have a taste before bathing?" Ben cooed."Not with that teeth you haven't brushed." Esther shoved her out of the kitchen with her hands. "Come have a taste when you've brushed your teeth." She giggled as she dished the food into a flask.---Ben g
