treat him as their prey

“Can we go to our subject?”

Eddy felt more annoyed with her words but trying his best to suppress his annoyance he said, “seems like your daughter is in a great rush, CEO. If you were that occupied then you had called the meeting some other day.”

“It’s not about rushing, it’s about getting to the main subject rather than hitting the bush,” Selina said, finally meeting his eyes.

Their eyes got locked for a while but Selina hastily withdrew her gaze and glanced at the file on her desk.

“I am not hitting the bush, Miss. I was about to bring the subject before you interrupted me,” Eddy’s voice sounded solemn.

Eddy had never felt that before. Selina’s ignorant behaviour was getting on his nerves which he was not liking at all.

First, she was pretending like she had not met him before and now she was behaving curt, which was definitely not acceptable for Eddy.

“I apologize for my daughter’s hasty behaviour. She is this way only, she doesn't like wasting time,” Jack tried to persuade, sensing the anger emerging inside Eddy which could result in not signing the contract together, which would ruin his plan.

“You don’t have to apologize, CEO. If your daughter is not interested in this deal, then I suggest let’s not sign it and talk about that…”

Hastily Selina stood on her feet. Collecting the file, she interrupted Eddy, “that was very sweet of you to know by yourself that we are not interested in this deal. Thank you for your time CEO Eddy.”

“What?” Eddy’s eyes widened.

“Selina…” Jack said, glaring at her.

“He doesn’t want to have this deal with us, father. So we better not waste our time here,” Selina stated, not meeting his eyes.

Eddy standing on his feet said in astonishment, “Wait! What? When did I say I am not interested in this deal?”

“Yeah, he didn’t say that, Selina. Why are you acting weird and making me embarrassed in front of CEO Eddy?” Jack glanced at her with his piercing eyes.

“I… I am sorry, father…” Selina stammered and sat back on her seat.

She bit her tongue feeling nervous for not being able to cancel the deal with her plan number one. It was time for plan number two.

Eddy shook his head right to left in disbelief sat back on his seat. Deep inside he was feeling like Selina was not willing to sign the contract with him, which made his ego hurt. He had thought that he would sign the contract with them at any cost.

“Okay fine now let's get to the business,” suggested Jack and everyone nodded their head in agreement.

Joe standing on his feet started to explain the deal when suddenly Selina interrupted, “stop! First, let’s discuss profit sharing.”

“Okay! So the profit sharing will be 55% and 45% we will be keeping 45%” said Joe.

Selina scoffed and tittering said, “seriously? 55%? Are you kidding me?”

“Excuse me?” Joe was confused.

“I am not interested in sharing such low profit,” Selina said leaning on her back.

“But your company will be getting 5% more…”

Selina interrupted Joe, “exactly, only 5%? We are giving our resources and you are giving us only 5% ?”

Eddy got Selina was not done with her trick to not sign the contract, so he said at once.

“Fine keep 70% and we will keep 30.”

“What?” Both Joe and Daisy passed a surprising look.

“But CEO…” Joe was about to say something but Jack hurriedly interrupted him, "Impressive, I am quite impressed with you gentleman. You are very passionate. I see that. You are just to the level of my daughter. I am quite sure it is going to be a great profit to both the companies if we are getting this deal final."

Selina got fret hearing Eddy. ‘No, Eddy you cannot do this,’ she thought to herself.

“Actually he can. He is the CEO. Remember my lovely daughter? Well done you played it well hurting his ego turned him paranoid to get this deal. Proud of you my daughter,” Jack replied through his thought, smirking.

“We are getting this final, CEO Jack,” replied Eddy, beaming with a victorious smile on his face.

Selina’s face expression changed and still, she tried to persuade her father, "But father, how can we finalize the deal? I still have a list of possible losses we can come across signing this deal.”

Jack hastily nodded his head and replied, "No, no my daughter we must give a try. As far as I can see we both companies can go far with good cooperation after this deal.”

“But father…”

“So, 'this is final, gentleman. As long as you are ready we can sign the deal right now preparing the papers," Jack suggested.

“But father…”

“Enough…” Jack yelled all of a sudden with anger in his eyes.

Everyone startled hearing his voice and gazed at him in shock.

“Enough, daughter, don’t scare him away. He is our prey, remember?” Jack thought inside.

Seeing the awkward silence inside the hall, Selina hastily said, "I was saying how can we sign the contract without any celebration, father?”

“Hmmm” Jack raised his eyebrows.

“I was not going against this deal. As always I respect your decision but I was thinking we both companies are going to sign a contract. So why don't we organise a grand party to sign a contract and inform the public as well? Don't you think it's a good idea both our share market will hype up with this news?”

Jack with excitement replied, "Now that's like my daughter. You are also always forward like me. So, CEO Eddy what do you think about it?"

"Sir, please call me Eddy,” Eddy requested.

Laughing out Jack said,” sure, sure. So Eddy what do you think about my daughter’s plan?”

Nodding his head, Eddy replied, “I am glad she finally agreed. So, I too agree with her plan.”

Patting Eddy’s shoulder, Jack said, "You are really a sweet man as I have heard. Okay, then tomorrow I will be organising a grand party at my place where we will sign the contract. I will manage all the arrangements for you gentlemen, you just have to be on time."

Eddy smiled and replied, "As you command, sir."

So with so many obstacles which were created by none other than Selina, finally the meeting ended successfully with a positive result. Only the contract was to be signed now.

Everyone was smiling coming out of the hall except Selina, who didn’t want the deal to happen. She was not ready to set a trap for Eddy and treat him as their prey, because the feeling she got that morning being with him had still not left her head.
