1. That night 1

Crack.

Kloe was startled when she heard the shattering sound coming from downstairs.

"Could it be that a vase has fallen or something?" she wondered as she stood up from the bed where she sat scrolling through images on social media. She headed downstairs to check on what made the sound.

Kloe was an entrepreneur, she owned one of the most prestigious fashion lines in the states, known for her unique fashion sense and she had won several awards which was a huge financial contribution to her famous fashion line.

She was raised at an orphanage home after her parents were reported to have died in a car accident and neither of their bodies was retrieved afterward.

She started as a model always showing her unique modeling skills at the orphanage home. At the age of eighteen, she worked at a boutique where she spent two years selling clothes that she loved for some reason and it did help sustain her financially as there was only little the orphanage home could do.

She proceeded to attend a fashion school with the money she had raised but soon realized that it wasn't enough to keep her in school till the end so she applied for a scholarship which she got thanks to her hard work.

Despite these things, being brilliant and creating amazing fashion designs, she was never noticed, her works were hidden, and she was never a center of attraction like a smart student should be these things bothered her to a point where she pushed herself to make friends with the famous.

It worked but she was more used than she was enjoying the relationship so she backed off and made the choice to be alone.

She made it out of the school with a good result though not the best she did put a lot of effort into making it good.

A fashion agent was captivated by her passion and desire and employed her as a model, Kloe was happy but not satisfied as all she wanted was a fashion line of her own, she put her best into it and spent countless hours working on new designs which got rejected several times until she designed the outfit which she was known for now.

The free fly as the outfit was called was designed for skinny ladies in particular but as the brand grew she made room for the busty and the fat, the free fly won three fashion awards which helped her business grow.

As a self-made entrepreneur, she lived comfortably in a fully detached luxurious duplex in a secluded estate.

She seemed to be enjoying herself having everything she needed at her disposal.

She was single but had two females servants, a male chef and three body guards, she was finally settled and thought she had everything life had to offer except for one thing which she needed the most.

Never did she think of such but becoming successful to enjoy it alone is not worth it or so she believed, she plans to make her own family one day and she was willing to do whatever it takes just as soon as she finds that one man.

With her hands tightly held to the railings, she took slow steps down the stairs, she came to halt as she heard footsteps which died almost immediately as she heard them.

She reassured herself that she was safe knowing she had three security guards on duty, she called upon some of her servants but no one responded.

"They are asleep," She thought.

After a few minutes of deliberation, she finally took a deep breath as she walked down one stair at a time trying to make no sound.

With one final step, she was downstairs, Kloe moved her neck from left to right hoping to see what made the sound she heard earlier but saw nothing.

Kloe proceeded to the dining area and was taken aback by the scenery, the glass window which separated the dining from the outside lay shattered on the floor, and the red footprint on the floor made her heart beat faster.

"Who is there?" She asked hoping to see someone but not even a single soul was present.

"Jack!" She called upon her bodyguard but received no response, shiver went down her spine as she imagined all negative possibilities leading to the scenery.

Amidst her dismay, she heard strange sounds coming from the kitchen, her curiosity caused her legs to move towards the kitchen at a slow pace, she took off her slippers quietly and tried to avoid the shattered glasses which had spread across the floor.

Halfway to the kitchen, she ran back to the staircase, he curiosity wasn't enough to quench her trepidation, she sat there with her hand on her head as tears ran down he cheeks profusely.

After spending less than a minute sitting and sobbing on the staircase, she stood up with confidence as she walked towards the kitchen door.

Her heart raced faster with every step she took towards the kitchen, every little sound startled her but didn't stop her from moving forward, her legs felt heavy but she managed to carry them to the kitchen door.

It was slightly opened and the sounds she heard became clear, they sounded like people crying in the kitchen but couldn't cry out as their mouths were probably restricted from doing so, she had no idea when tears found their way to her cheeks.

Through the little opening in the door, she peeped through it but couldn't see what was going on as there was a figure obstructing her view.

She soon heard footsteps walking towards the door and almost died of a heart attack, she was quick to jerk back to reality as her instincts kicked in, she didn't hesitate to turn around for a run but just then she bumped into someone who held tightly unto her lips.

"Be quiet else you die," A deep masculine voice said.
