Chapter 41

Selene was dozing off on the sofa when Blake quietly entered the house and noticed the TV was on, assuming that she had slept off while watching the movie.

He approached the couch and knelt down so he could see her face more clearly. Upon feeling kisses on her face, she arose and began to blink.

“You’ve returned?” In her drowsy tone, she murmured.

“Did you have dinner, Princess?”

“Yes, I had a dinner on the way home. Did you?”

“Yes, I had dinner with Grandpa.”

They remained silent for a while, just looking into each other’s eyes.

“You seem upset. Are you okay?” Selene spoke While maintaining eye contact and moving her body to sit on the sofa.

Blake sat next to her and then put his head on her laps.

“I feel terrified in addition to being sad.”

“Does Ariana’s father’s death play a role?”

“Grandma was the only thing on my mind when I saw his coffin, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to handle it.”

“Don’t worry, she’ll live a long life.”

Even though Selene was lying, she stated it to mak
