Chapter 4

Su Kexin practically ran away from Little Jiangnan.

As she left, back inside the restaurant, Gu Chi leaned against the back of his chair and watched her back as she left in a panic. His slender fingers tapped the armrest on his wheelchair, and his gaze was thoughtful.

“President Gu.” Just then, a young man suddenly walked into the restaurant in a rush, going up to Gu Ch and saying softly into his ear, “Miss Li said she’s stuck in traffic, so she might be five minutes late.”

“Tell her she won’t have to come anymore.” Gu Chi’s cold gaze was still trained on Su Kexin outside the window. “I don’t like women who act hard to get.”

“But…” The young man who seemed like his assistant looked troubled. “The Old Master is really breathing down your neck…”

“Investigate this woman.” Gu Chi did not seem to hear him at all, saying that abruptly and holding up his hand. He held Su Kexin’s name card between his fingers.

“A woman?” The assistant was stunned for a second, and only then did he notice his boss’ gaze trailing Su Kexin.

He was instantly struck by shock,

Their big boss actually asked him to follow up on a woman?

That was equivalent to the sun rising from the west!

Most importantly, that woman… did not look too special, did she?

The next morning at work, Su Kexin went to the finance department during lunch break and bugged them until they gave her this month's salary in advance.

She hated owing other people money, so she wanted to return the money she owed that man as soon as possible.

During lunch, once she was sure the money was in her account, Su Kexin quickly called the man's number written on her notebook. After a few long beeps over the phone—

"Hello."

The man's deep and magnetic voice rang out next to her ear, and Su Kexin actually grew nervous for no apparent reason.

"It's me," Su Kexin said. "The one who borrowed money from you at the restaurant yesterday. I already have the money, so could you give me your bank account number?"

There was silence on the other end of the phone, and just as Su Kexin was wondering if he still remembered her, that cold and deep voice spoke again.

"I don't take bank transfers. Give me the money in cash."

Su Kexin was stunned.

Was there anyone in this day and age who only accepted cash?

"So you mean…" Still, she owed him money, so Su Kexin had no choice but to follow his whims.

"Are you free tomorrow?"

"I have a scoop to catch tomorrow afternoon, but I'm free in the morning."

"Then please come to the Civil Affairs Bureau l tomorrow morning. I have something to do there

then."

Su Kexin was once again stunned.

He wanted her to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to return him the money? Why did that feel so odd to her?

Still, Su Kexin did not think too much of it. She agreed.

The next day.

Su Kexin and that man promised to meet at the entrance to the Civil Affairs Bureau. As soon as she alighted from the bus, she could see that man from far away.

He was still sitting in his wheelchair, and his cold yet arrogant figure attracted a lot of sideways

glances.

However, those gazes were neither pitiful nor contemptuous. Instead, they seemed merely attracted to the man's looks and aura. There were even a few young girls gathered in a group, seemingly hesitating over whether they should go chat him up.

"Good day." Su Kexin hastened her footsteps and walked up to him. "Sorry, did I keep you waiting?"

The man's gaze slowly fell on Su Kexin.

She had gone to work today, so she was wearing a simple and professional suit and skirt that showed off her great figure without showing too much skin.

Su Kexin was not a beauty that took your breath away at a glance, but she was pretty enough. After you looked at her again and again, you would slowly get a taste of her subtle sweetness, like a good cup of tea.

"No." The man moved his gaze away and said calmly, "Did you bring everything?"

Su Kexin thought he was talking about the cash, of course, so she quickly nodded and was about to take the money from her bag when suddenly that man spoke again.

"Then let's go in and register."

"Register?" Su Kexin blinked and stopped, looking at the man before her in confusion. "Register for what?"

The man met Su Kexin's dazed gaze and his expression remained calm despite the shocking words that he uttered next.

"Our marriage."
